  • Construction work accidents have not decreased in spite of much effect such as new work methods education and research related to the safety management. Specially, many fatal accidents were mainly caused by unanticipated risk factors in reinforced concrete construction work, which was involved in apartment, building. school church, hotel hospital, bank work and the other works. According to the construction fatal accident book by KOSHA 1,903 workers were killed by the fatal accidents in reinforced concrete construction work during the 13 years$(1992\~2004)$. From these reasons, this study researched the cause of fatal accidents which were happened in reinforced concrete construction work during last 13 years and surveyed construction managers and specialists about risk factors according to the work type in the reinforced concrete construction work. Therefore, this study will suggest the counterplan about the construction safety management and prevent fatal accidents from construction site related to the reinforced concrete construction work.

  • According to the trend of tail building, it is essential to improve productivity in tall building construction. However, the study on that is insufficient until now. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose a new work process of efficient concrete structural fame work to improve productivity in tall building construction. The results of being applied proposed work process are that the 5day cycle time of concrete structural frame work is cut by 0.5day and the quantity of rebar to be demanded in concrete structural frame work is reduced.

Specially, many fatal accidents happened in construction works which involve the apartment, building, school, church, hotel, hospital, bank work and the other works. These accidents are mainly caused by unanticipated risk factors. From these reasons, this study researched fatal accidents which happened in construction works during last 13 years($1992{\sim}2004$) and analyzed the input workers and a work period of construction work. According to the input workers and a work period, the results are as following. During 13years($1992{\sim}2004$), the fatal accidents, related to the construction work, were happened to the 1,977 cases. These results were occupied the 21.32% of the total industry accidents. According to the result of the construction, the fatal accident rate of a concrete form work was the highest rate of 16.24% (321 cases) and a temporary work, a steel frame work was the each rate of 12.39%(245 cases), 10.07%(199 cases). Comparing to other work types, the fatal accident rate of those three work types(concrete form work, temporary work, steel work) was represented highly. We surveyed input workers and work period of construction work site. From the result of survey, input workers of a concrete form work were occupied with 13,720. The risk rate of the work type, which was considered input workers and work period, was represented 0.3622(a steel frame work), 0.1142(a temporary work), 0.0782(a tower crane) and 0.0772(a concrete work).

  • The exposed concrete has been widely used in building construction. Therefore, many researches are presented to secure a proper construction quality of exposed concrete. Low quality and management absence, however, still remained in construction fields. Thus, many studies have been conducted to improve the quality, but defects still occur in the exposed concrete finishing work. In this study, the causes of defects were analyzed by process in order to prevent the generation of defects and to enhance the need for integrated management to secure quality. In addition, a case study and AHP analysis have derived the importance of defects occurring in the exposed concrete finishing work. The study concluded that the occurrence of the exposed concrete finishing work needs to be managed throughout the process, not the management limited by one process, according to the causes of the existing defects, and integrated management is required to prevent defects and improve quality of exposed concrete finishing work.

  • For the successful introduction of the construction automation system, it is necessary to define the consideration factors and target tasks for the necessity of automating the conventional methods. In this study, the factors for automation were derived through brainstorming and questionnaires, and calculated the relative importance through the pairwise comparison using the AHP analysis method. In addition, the detailed type of concrete work was classified into 32 detailed works, and the automation score for each work was calculated by investigating the factors considering the necessity of automation. As a result of the automation score analysis, it was concluded that the need for automation of concrete placing work was the highest. Based on this study, we will consider the strategy of a concrete construction automation system.

  • Expert systems which represent the appllication of artificial intelligence research are now nearly 20 years old. It is said that the present technology together with ever- increasing computing applicability of Combined Hypertext-Expert System Techniques to the design of reinforced concrete structures. Hypertext systems allow the user to control the system while expert systems alone don't give the user any control over the system. Therefore the combination of these two techniques, offered by KnowledgePro, may bring us closer to real user-expert communication. The system developed in this work offers information on design in general by reorganizing ACI Manual 318-89, detailed stress analysis and cross sectional design of simple PC/RC beams and optimum design of reinforced concrete building frames. The system also includes the author's earlier work on guidance to identify types of cracks in concrete. It is also includes the author's earlier work on guidance to identify types of cracks in concrete. It is also demonstrated how well and conveniently existing programs can be used by reorganizing the user manuals in the context of hypertext.

  • The adoption of Green Frame is expected to provide economic benefits, since construction costs are reduced by the in-situ production of precast concrete column and beam. The cost reduction can ultimately be realized by saving transportation costs and the overhead and profit of PC plants. The cost structure of Green Frame, which is built up using composite precast concrete members, is similar to that of a bearing-wall structure, but the difference in construction process has resulted in some cost differences for a few items. In particular, production and installation is the principal work involved in Green Frame made by precast concrete members, while form and concrete work is the principal work for a bearing-wall structure. As such, the rental time and fee for a tower crane should be compared through time analysis. To verify reliability, this study focused on developed residential projects to estimate the construction costs. Through this analysis, it was found that the costs of Green Frame were 1.57% lower than the costs of bearing-wall structure. The results of this study will help in the development of a management plan for the structural work of Green Frame.
