Carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) plate Is one of the alterative materials for soengthening of reinforced and prestressed connote members due to excellent strength and light weight In this paper, the behavior of beams strengthened with CFRP plate and CFS(Carbon fiber sheet) is observed and analyzed from the test results. Especially specimens with thick plate is tested when large moment and large shear lone appear in same position. The main failure mode is a peeling-off of the CFRP plate near the loading points due to flexural-shear crack, Because of this failure mode, failure load is not linearly proportional to the thickness of CFRP plates. When beam is wrapped with CFS around oかy loading point it does not influence on the failure loads. Depending on the loading pattern, it is necessary to consider different design criteria for reinforced concrete members with external reinforcement. When line moment and large shear force appear in same location, maximum thickness may limit to 0.6mm and ratio between moment of strengthened beam and moment of unstrengthened beam is proposed 1.5-2.0. In order to use the plate of thicker than 6mm, CFS may be extended to the location which moment of strengthened beam is 1.5 times than moment of unstrengthened beam.
Purpose: The Seoul Metropolitan Government classifies the cavity risks into emergency, priority, general, and observation grades in consideration of the cavity size, asphalt pavement thickness, and pavement depth based on the cavity management grade criteria of Seoul. In this study, the depth of cracking was measured at 17 cracks identified by checking the pavement condition of the cavity at 265 cavities found in the 2019 cavity investigation service. Method: In the first phase, crack width and depth were measured using a vernier caliper, taper gauge, and depth gauge to check the cracks of the identified cavities. In the second phase, the location of the largest crack in the upper road surface was confirmed, and A.C. was drilled to further measure the crack depth. Results: As a result, the cavity management level was raised in nine of the 17 test cavity identified. Therefore, in case of emergency and priority recovery, the grade should be adjusted according to the depth of pavement crack and the thickness of residual A.C. pavement. Conclusion: In the case of cracks in the upper part of the cavity, the crack progression must be determined through the perforation and the remaining asphalt concrete thickness must be determined to determine the cavity grade.
Objectives: This study was carried out to analyze the single dose toxicity of ShinEumHur (SEH) pharmacopuncture injected into the muscles of Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods: The SEH pharmacopuncture was made in a clean room at the Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute (K-GMP). After the mixing process with sterile distilled water had been completed, the pH was controlled to between 7.0 and 7.5. All experiments were conducted at Biotoxtech, an institution authorized to perform non-clinical studies under the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations. Sprague-Dawley rats were chosen for the pilot study. Doses of SEH pharmacopuncture, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mL, were administered to the experimental groups, and a dose of normal saline solution, 1.0 mL, was administered to the control group. We examined the survival rate, weights, clinical signs, mean hematology parameters, mean clinical chemistry, necropsy and histopathological findings. This study was conducted under the approval of the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee. Results: No deaths or abnormalities occurred in any of the four groups. No significant changes in weight, hematological parameters or clinical chemistry between the control group and the experimental groups were observed. To check for abnormalities in organs and tissues, we used microscopy to examine representative histological sections of each specified organ; the results showed no significant differences in any of the organs or tissues. Conclusion: The above findings suggest that treatment with SEH pharmacopuncture is relatively safe. Further studies on this subject are needed to yield more concrete evidence.
It is important to pay careful attention to the backfill construction for the structural integrity of concrete box culvert. To increase the structural integrity of culvert good compaction by the dynamic compaction roller with big capacity is as effective as good backfill materials. However structural distress of the culvert could be occurred due to the excessive earth pressure by great dynamic compaction load. In this study, two box culverts were constructed with change compaction materials and construction methods. Two type of on-site soils such as subbase and subgrade materials were used as backfill materials. In most case, dynamic compaction rollers with 11 to 12 ton weights were used and vibration frequency were applied from 2000 to 2500 rpm for the great compaction energy. Backfill compactions with good quality soils were carried out to examine the effect of cushions on dynamic lateral soil pressure. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) and rubber of tire were adapted as cushion materials and they are set on the culverts before backfill construction. This paper presents the main results on the characteristics of dynamic earth pressures. Test result indicates that the amounts of increased dynamic pressures are affected with backfill materials, depth of pressure cell, and compaction condition. The earth pressure during compaction can give harmful effect to box culvert because the value of dynamic earth pressure coefficient $(\DeltaK_{dyn}=\DeltaK\sigma_h\DeltaK\sigma_v)$ during compaction is greater than that of static condition. It was observed that cushion panels of EPS(t=10cm) and rubber(t=5cm) are effective to mitigate dynamic lateral pressure on the culverts.

This study is to investigate experimentally the effect of refining of fly ash (FA) on the engineering properties of the cement mortar. Five different FAs are used including raw fly ash, refined fly ash, reject ash and their two different combinations. The cement mortars are fabricated with 1:1(binder to fine aggregate), 1 : 3 and 1 : 5 respectively, which are replaced 30% of FA by cement. Test results, indicated that, the flow of Ra showed lower flowability than Rf at all mixing ratios. Also in the case of Rj, it was expected to show low fluidity, but it showed flowability equal to or higher than Rf. Air contents are all formulations except Rf and Rj did not satisfy the target range. Using Ra, the refining process shows an air amount about 41% lower than Rf, in the case of Rj, it showed about 19% higher air content than Rf due to porous foreign matters inside the mortar. Compressive strength was in the early days 3 and 7, the strength was lower than that of Plain's OPC, after 28 days Rf exerts higher strength than other FAs, it was confirmed that higher strength than OPC can be secured at a mixing ratio of 1: 1 and 1: 3. For frost resistance, the use of unrefined FA resulted in decrease of frost resistance sharply due to loss of air content by the use of unrefined FA. Therefore, it is considered that the use of high quality FA through refining process will contribute positively to the economical formulation of concrete and the stability of the structure.

This study was conducted to recycle flotation tailings as non-sintered construction materials considering the economic and eco-friendly treatments. The particle size distribution( median $220\;{\mu}m$) of flotation tailings from Soon-shin mine was confirmed to be larger than that(median $140\;{\mu}m$) of tailings from Sam-kwang mine. Thus we investigated the properties of non-sintered eco-brick producted with the tailings from Sam-kwang mine and non-sintered water permeable block producted with the tailings from Soon-shin mine. Compressive strength of non-sintered water permeable block which was made with less than 25 wt% of tailings from Soon-shin mine was met with products class(over 14.70 MPa) of water permeable concrete(EL 245) from KEITL. Meanwhile, the coefficient of its permeability wasn't met with the products class( over $1.0{\times}10^{-2}\;cm/sec$). The properties of non-sintered eco-brick with less than 40 wt% of tailings from Sam-kwang mine were satisfied with third class in sintered clay brick products standard(KS L 4201). The non-sintered eco-brick as a result of leaching test on heavy metals by KSLT was verified to be environmentally stabile.

Slim floor system using deep decks has been developed and employed in Europe to reduce the floor height of steel structures. Although long span buildings involving the issue of reducing floor height are being increasingly built in Korea, employing deep decks in more than 7m long span structures is likely to cause problems associated with excessive deflection. This study is applied to the long-span concrete casting of the deep deck plate usability of deflection due to bending and torsional instability of open cross-section, as a way to improve the problem of cap plates are suggested, and the optimum length of reinforcement and location are derived from theoretic estimation. The cap plates are placed on the deep decks with regular intervals to overcome the instability of open sections, improve the stiffness of the sections and control the deflection at the centers. The improvement in flexural capacity associated with the location of the cap plates and the length of reinforcement are verified through analysis and test.

This study investigated the use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) over a two-decade period on public roads, focusing on the electromagnetic characteristics of the pavement dielectrics and attenuation. From the results, a typical range of characteristic value, influencing factors, and a correction method were suggested. The typical dielectrics of asphalt pavements were 4-7, as measured by an air-coupled 1 GHz GPR antenna. The dielectrics of concrete pavements were very large in the early age, but were drastically reduced with ageing. Ten years on, collection was in the range of 6-12. The dielectrics were proportional to the relative humidity (R.H.) of the atmosphere. The effects were reduced to one eighth with an overlay. Attenuation generally increased with thickness of the road layer, and also increased where there was damage. The GPR results could also vary depending on the weather conditions as well as on the characteristics of the GPR equipment, even at the same frequency. Therefore, GPR surveys should be performed on road surfaces without debris on a single, fine day. The reliability of the GPR analysis could be improved by cores and equipment calibration with other non-destructive test surveys.

Recently pipe-framed greenhouses are widely constructed on domestic farm area. These greenhouses are extremely light-weighted structures and so are easily damaged under strong wind due to the lack of uplift resistance of foundation piles. This experiment was carried out by laboratory soil tank to investigate the displacement be haviors of cylindrical pile foundations according to the uplift loads. Tested soils were sampled from two different greenhouse areas. The treatment for each soil type are consisted of 3 different soil moisture conditions, 2 different soil depths, and 3 different soil compaction ratios. Each test was designed to be repeated 2 times and additional tests were carried out when needed. The results are summarized as follows : 1. When the soil moisture content are low and/or pile foundations are buried relatively shallow, ultimate uplift capacity of foundation soil was generated just after begining of uplift displacement. But under the high moisture conditions and/or deeply buried depth, ultimate up-lift capacity of foundation soil was generated before the begining of uplift displacement. 2. For the case of soil S$_1$, the ultimate uplift capacity of piles depending on moisture contents was found to be highest in optimum moisture condition and in the order of air dryed and saturated moisture contents. But for the case of soil S$_2$, the ultimate uplift capacity was found to be highest in optimum moisture condition and in the order of saturated and air dryed moisture contents. 3. Ultimate uplift capacities are varied depending on the pile foundation soil moisture conditions. Under the conditions of optimum soil moisture contents with 60cm soil depth, the ultimate uplift capacity of pile foundation in compaction ratio of 80%, 85%, and 90% for soil 51 are 76kg, 115kg, and 155kg, respectively, and for soil S$_2$are 36kg, 60kg, and 92kg, respectively. But considering that typical greenhouse uplift failure be occurred under saturnted soil moisture content which prevails during high wind storm accompanying heavy rain, pile foundation is required to be designed under the soil condition of saturated moisture content. 4. Approximated safe wind velosities estimated for soil sample S$_1$and S$_2$are 32.92m/s and 26.58m/s respectively under the optimum soil condition of 90% compaction ratio and optimum moisture content. But considering the uplift failure pattern under saturated moisture contents which are typical situations of high wind accompanying heavy rain, the safe wind velosities for soil sample S$_1$and S$_2$are not any higher than 20.33m/s and 22.69m/s respectively.

FRP is a new material that is lightweight, has high strength and high durability, and is emerging as a third construction material in many countries. The composite material panel targeted in this study was a curved member and is the most frequently used arch-shaped member of a structures, such as tunnels. Composite curved panels can be produced in high quality and large quantities through automation operations. On the other hand, the frequency of application is low, and the design criteria and experimental data are lacking. Therefore, this study examined the mechanical performance of the member unit first to verify its performance as structural members of the FRP curved panel. For this purpose, tensile, compression, and connection performance tests were carried out. The tensile tests showed greater tensile strength of specimens with larger curvature, and the compression tests showed that the composite section of a composite material has greater compressive strength than the concrete section. Finally, the test of the performance of the connection showed that the attachment performance of the connection was more than equal to that of the FRP composite material panel.
