  • Rapid social changes and scientific advances of the $21^{th}c$ have brought on a major paradigm shift towards consilience, making boundaries more or less irrelevant. In the field of architecture, this is manifested in the emergence of colors that can be described as 'being aleatory', 'non-formal', 'non-deterministic' and 'perpetually evolving'. Contemporary architectural colors are not definitively fixed. They are rather liquid and metaphorical. Whereas the more traditional architectural colors have delivered clearly and precisely the intended symbolic meaning and visual information, those of today are less definitive and embody a more liquid and conceptual value system. This paper discusses the denoted signification and the meaning effect of the metaphorical color system found in contemporary architecture. This paper analyzes works of architecture from the late 20th century, when dramatic change sin architectural color system surfaced, to the more contemporary creations. Here, three categories of color are suggested, namely material color, spatial color and liquid color. Each categories considered in connection with deconstruction, holistic interactivity and the multiplicity of meanings that may result as information from the external world is perceived as stimulus to the inner mind. Contemporary architectural color scheme is characterized by its unpredictable vagueness of meaning, synesthetic engagement of imagination and chance, and expansion of the inner and outer world, all of which contribute to a metaphorical effect. The metaphorical color system of contemporary architecture can be classified into three dimensions, and it connects with human consciousness and amplifies itself through flexible and fluid communication. In this process non-physical colors materially serve as formal logic and room for varied interpretation of architectural space and our conceptual framework.

  • Many studies indicate the emerging crisis of education of calculus even though the emphasis of calculus have been widely recognized. In our classrooms, the education of calculus also has been faced with its bounds. Most instructions of calculus is too much emphasis on the algebraic approach, thus students solve mathematical problems without truly understanding the underlying concept. The purpose of this study is to develop mathematization teaching and learning materials and methods in caculus based on the mathematization teaching and learning theories by Freudenthal and the variability principles of conceptual learning by Dienes, In order to this purpose, first, we analyzed the high school mathematics II textbook of 7th curriculum in Korea. Second, we developed mathematization teaching and learning materials and methods in highschool calculus. Consequently, the following conclusions have been drawn: we have reorganized and reconstructed the context problem in calculus based on concepts of tangent line and instantaneous rate of change.

  • The goals of nursing education, and the bases for evaluating them depend on the goals of nursing practice. In order to prepare for the coming twenty first century and the meet changing societal demands and health needs, it is necessary to develop a new conceptual framework for future nursing education. While hospitals will still be in significant components of the health care system, will no longer be central focus or dominant influence. Health care services will be more usually delivered at community base. The nursing education required by that new approach must provide for reconsidered about a concept of caring as nursing curriculum. The changes in health care delivery that have occured, now being proposed, for nursing education undergoing its own changes. So the philosophy and objectives of education meed to reconsidering about the caring concept and general nursing. Nurse educators must prepare students to practic in condition of constant change. At the same time nurse educators must emphasize preparation about that. The practice of science of caring in nursing draws on a basic knowledge of the behavioral knowledge, biophysical processes, pathological processes, nursing skills and procedures and various treatment regimes and problem solving to help decision making in nursing situations. The concept of care is probably one of the least understood ideas used by professional and nonprofessional people, yet it is probably one of the most improtant concepts to be understood by nursing. Human caring and human relationships are closely interrelated. Humn caring remains an essential dimension of professional work and the science of caring as essental to the discipline of nursing. It is expected that the objectives of nursing education will be accomplished when the course and content of the curriculum are based on this conceptual framework. One recurrent education goal with some consistency is that of equipping the student with the necessary skills to live effectively and productivly in the world of tomorrow. In the new vision we are developing, professional education must also include exposure to liberal arts, encouragement of critical thinking, and a moral context for advanced professional education that is based upon a contextual health policy and caring science educational model.

  • Due to the development of domestic technology, a variety of aircraft launch weapons have been developed, and the importance of aircraft-store integration certification is increasing. The aircraft-Store integration certification is to certify compliance with the armaments/stores integration criteria set out in the Standard ACC and to prove that there is no problem with the safety flight. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect the requirements of the aircraft in the store development process to reduce the design change requirement in the compatibility verification stage. In this paper, the relationship between the Standards ACC, aircraft-store compatibility reference document MIL-HDBK-1763, and the development process of cruise guided weapons have been analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the design changes in the aircraft-store integration certification stage could be reduced if the aerodynamic and structural design requirements were reflected from the conceptual design stage.

  • Electronic media are an integral part of modern civilization; educational practices are no exception, which should change the content orientations, structures and methodological approaches in accordance with the requirements of the educational market. This makes it relevant to find effective and successful configurations in the process of implementing modern educational practices. The purpose of the research lies in determining the basic principles of electronic media and their place in modern education, identifying the effectiveness of teaching disciplines with application of electronic media, as well as establishing the level of assessment by students of the need to involve different types of electronic media in the educational process and professional practice. The research methodology is complex; the descriptive method and methods of observation, analysis and synthesis have been used in the academic paper. The method of pedagogical experiment has become the principal one; the method of questionnaires and statistical methods have been also used. The hypothesis of the academic paper lies in the fact that the involvement of electronic media in the educational process makes it more effective and requires conceptual changes in educational practices. The result of the research manifests in the identification of new opportunities for the use of electronic media, leading to conceptual shifts in the framework of modern educational policies. In the future, it will be appropriate to consider the theoretical aspects of changing worldview models in education and the use of new media in the educational process, their effectiveness and relevance.

  • This paper proposes a new model as a framework for forecasting demand and technological substitution, which can accommodate different patterns of technological change. This model, which we named, "Adaptive Diffusion Model", is formalized from a conceptual framework that incorporates several underlying factors determining the market demand for technological products. The formulation of this model is given in terms of a period analysis to improve its explanatory power for dynamic processes in the real world, and is described as a continuous form which approximates a discrete derivation of the model. In order to illustrate the applicability and generality of this model, time-series data of the diffusion rates for some typical products in electronics and telecommunications market have been empirically tested. The results show that the model has higher explanatory power than any other existing model for all the products tested in our study. It has been found that this model can provide a framework which is sufficiently robust in forecasting demand and innovation diffusion for various technological products.

  • Based on the comprehensive literature search and the sample library surveys, some observations are made on the impact of online information technologies for reference services. Various issues specifically with OPAC, CD-ROM, remote database access, and internet environment are overviewed as the source of and trigger for change in reference librarianship and in terms of expectations as well as difficulties. The paper then focuses on how these technologies influence on the roles of reference librarians as intermediaries in information providing, instructing, consulting, and evaluating functions. This leads to rethinking the conceptual basis of today's reference service and the competencies for reference librarians with new functions and responsibilities.

  • This paper examines a historical case- the French Revolution- of conceptual change in mathematics. The case that is a space of possibility gave birth to a new community of mathematical practitioners. Carnot and Monge shared the particular conceptions of the problems, aims, and methods of a field and contributed to found Ecole Polytechnique. I intend to show how Carnot's and Monge's mathematical endeavours responded to social, political and technological developments in French society.

  • This study examined 10 Korean children's expressions of the mental states of desires and beliefs by analyzing mental state verbs as well as modal expressions in Korean production data. Mental expressions of desires and beliefs increased with increasing age. Two transition points of desires and beliefs were found in the data. First, belief expressions were less frequently produced than expressions of desires between 23 to 32 months. Second, belief expressions were much the same as desire expressions from 33 to 44 months. Finally, belief expressions were more frequently produced than desire expressions between 45 to 76 months. The authors suggest that these developmental transitions represent a conceptual change in understanding of mental states as proposed by Wellman (1990).

  • The analysis concerns collapse behavior of framed vehicle models with the change of design parameters at the initial stage of conceptual design. Collapse analysis of a vehicle model with framed structures has been carried out using finite element limit analysis. The analysis makes sequential changes of design parameters from an initial model with frames of uniform section so as to stage then weak parts. As a result of those design changes, the collapse load of a model has been increased and the deflection toward a passenger room has been reduced. The results demonstrate the versatility of finite element limit analysis as a tool that confirms the safety of vehicle models.
