A new concept wave absorber is proposed. It is a net type wave absorber. Its efficiency was reported in another publication. Since it is based on new concept, the traditional wave absorber theory is not applicable. It is modeled by introducing damping terms in linearized free surface boundary conditions in this study. The length and the thickness of the wave absorber are modeled by the length and the coefficient of the damping terms. Series of experiments are carried out to get the data for the coefficients of the damping term. The boundary element method is adopted to solve the system. The predicted wave heights show excellent agreement with those of experiments when the lengths of the incoming waves are within the length of the wave absorber.

In this paper we constructed semantic net that can efficiently conform retrieval and reuse of object-oriented source code. In odor that initial relevance of semantic net was constructed using thesaurus to represent concept of object-oriented inheritance between each node. Also we made up for the weak points in spreading activation method that use to activate node and line of semantic net and to impulse activation value. Therefore we proposed the method to enhance retrieval time and to keep the quality of spreading activation.

기존의 키워드 기반 이미지 검색에서는 의미적 내용 인식을 위해 일반적으로 어휘적 정보나 텍스트 정보를 인간이 주석 형태로 달아주었다. 그러나 이런 텍스트 정보 기반 이미지 검색은 개념적 매칭이 아닌 스트링 매칭이므로 주석을 달아놓은 단어와 정확한 매칭이 없다면 찾을 수가 없다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 개념 기반 이미지 검색 시스템을 위한 WordNet의 적용 방안에 대해 연구했다. WordNet은 단언형이 아닌 단어의 의미 즉 synset이 구성 요소라는 특징을 이용해 각각의 이미지에 텍스트 정보 대신 적합한 개념의 Synset번호를 저장한다. 그리고 검색시 개념간의 유사성 측정을 이용해 검색어와 개념적으로 유사한 모든 이미지를 검색하도록 한다.

This paper presents a network-based traction control system(TCS), where several electric control units(ECUs) are connected by a controller area network(CAN) communication system. The control system consists of four ECUs: the electric throttle controller, the transmission controller, the engine controller and the traction controller. In order to validate the traction control algorithm of the network-based TCS and evaluate its performance, a Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation(HILS) environment was developed. Herein we propose a new concept of the HILS environment called the network-based HILS(Net-HILS) for the development and validation of network-based control systems which include smart sensors or actuators. In this study, we report that we have designed a network-based TCS, validated its algorithm and evaluated its performance using Net-HILS.

본 연구에서는 추상적 사고를 가능하게 해주는 개념은유 표현의 서술어를 분석하여, 추상개념의 근원영역을 찾는 알고리즘을 HowNet 지식 시스템을 이용하여 제안하고자 한다. 실제로 추상개념 '문화' 가 쓰인 242개의 은유 표현 용례 문장을 가지고 제안된 알고리즘으로 근원영역을 찾고. 이를 토대로. 목표영역 '문화' 의 근원영역이 추론기에 의하여 자동적으로 추론되는 HowNet 기반 은유 온톨로지의 구축 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 또한, 한국어 '문화' 와 영어표현 'Culture'의 근원영역 비교를 통하여 구축된 온톨로지를 영어 번역 및 작문에 어떻게 활용할 수 있는지 보이고자 한다.

Older or damaged structures can require significant retrofit to ensure they perform well in subsequent earthquakes. Supplemental damping devices are used to achieve this goal, but increase base shear forces, foundation demand, and cost. Displacement reduction without increasing base shear is possible using novel semi-active and recently-created passive devices, which offer energy dissipation in selected quadrants of the force-displacement response. Combining these devices with large, strictly passive energy dissipation devices can offer greater, yet customized response reductions. Supplemental damping to reduce response without increasing base shear enables a net-zero base shear approach. This study evaluates this concept using two incremental dynamic analyses (IDAs) to show displacement reductions up to 40% without increasing base shear, more than would be achieved for either device alone, significantly reducing the risk of response exceeding the unaltered structural case. IDA results lead to direct calculation of reductions in risk and annualized economic cost for adding these devices using this net-zero concept, thus quantifying the trade-off. The overall device assessment and risk analysis method presented provides a generalizable proof-of-concept approach, and provides a framework for assessing the impact and economic cost-benefit of using modern supplemental energy dissipation devices.

Cities cover only 3% of the planet's surface, yet they are responsible for more than 75% of the global emissions. Given the projected urban built area will double by 2060, the carbon emitted from cities will further increase. SOM proposes the Urban Sequoia concept, for buildings that go beyond 'net zero' and absorb carbon from the atmosphere. This concept combines multiple strategies, including the use of an optimised building form with a highly efficient structural system, modularized prefabrication techniques, holistic integration of facade, MEP and interiors' components, bio-based materials, and Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, to reduce a 40-storey building's whole life cycle carbon emissions by more than 300% over a 100-year lifespan. Calculations of embodied carbon emissions are performed with SOM's in-house Environmental Analysis (EA) Tool to demonstrate the effectiveness of employing Urban Sequoia's design strategies in the design of new buildings using current technologies.

개념 정보를 제공하는 어휘 데이터베이스로 WordNet, CYC, EDR등이 출현하였다. 본 연구는 WordNet의 개념 기술 방식에 따라 한국어 개념 사전을 구축하기 위한 것이다 우선 개념을 분류할 적절한 분류 체계를 설정하고, 연세 말뭉치에서 빈도수가 높은 상위 300개 명사를 추출하여 사전의 뜻풀이에 나타난 명사와 연관관계로 표시된 명사를 함께 제시함으로써 개념을 표현하였다. 이러한 한국어 개념 사전은 의미모호성을 해소하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

Presented in this paper is a CPO tool-path linking procedure optimizing technological objectives, such as dealing with islands (positive and negative) and minimizing tool retractions, drilling holes and slotting. Main features of the proposed algorithm are as follows; 1) a data structure, called a 'TPE-net', is devised to provide information on the parent/child relationships among the tool-path-elements, 2) the number of tool retractions is minimized by a 'tool-path-element linking algorithm'fading a tour through the TPE-net, and 3) the number of drilling holes is minimized by making use of the concept of the 'free space'.
