  • In this paper, an efficient robust control method for chaotic system introducing the concept, the edge of chaos (:boundary status between chaos and non-chaos), is proposed. To realize this concept, we introduce an extended performance index which consists of two parts. One is for achievement of the system's objects, another is for keeping the system edge of chaos. Parameters of the neural network controller are adjusted to minimize the value of the extended performance index and achieve the above two objects using Random...

  • Saudi laws must be derived from Islamic law. However, Islamic law has a flexible methodology that allows it to deal with any form of business entity. Today there is no difference between the countries around the world about the general concept of the corporation because countries have copied the system of the corporation from each other since the sixteenth century.

  • A speaker's intentions can be represented by domain actions (domain-independent speech act and domain-dependent concept sequence pairs). Therefore, it is essential that domain actions be determined when implementing dialogue systems because a dialogue system should determine users' intentions from their utterances and should create counterpart intentions to the users' intentions. In this paper, a neural network model is proposed for classifying a user's domain actions and planning a system's domain actions. An integrated neural network model is proposed for simultaneously determining user and system domain actions using the same framework. The proposed model performed better than previous non-integrated models in an experiment using a goal-oriented dialogue corpus. This result shows that the proposed integration method contributes to improving domain action determination performance.

  • With the advent of the Internet, data centric computing applications, and e-business applications, virtually all network-stored data has become mission critical in nature. This increasing reliance on the access to enterprise data is challenging the limitations of traditional server-storage solutions. As a result, the ongoing need to add more storage, serve more users and back up more data has given rise to the concept of a SAN(Storage Area Network), “a network whose primary purpose is the transfer of data between computer systems and storage elements and among storage elements.” The purpose of this article is to help the managers and researchers make the understanding of a SAN as the possibility of new data repository in e-business era. This paper provides a thorough literature review on this new concept including its structure, its benefits and disadvantages, and its underlying issues.

  • In Korea, we witness vivid evidences of changing trend in communication that insist the emergence of new networking architecture. To accommodate the changing trend and to hold current strong position in global IT industry, Korea have launched broadband convergence network (BcN) initiative. BcN vision for Korea is to be the first in the world to realize converged network infrastructure and ubiquitous service environment. In this paper, we have introduced the concept and the vision of BcN with a viewpoint of a new paradigm to prepare future-proof communication environment. And then, we have disclosed BcN research and development (R&D) activities including R&D philosophy, R&D phases, and key technologies required. Also, we have discussed current development issues in three technology branches including service and control technology, unified transport technology, and next-generation access technology.

  • The concept of standard error ellipse and confidence ellipse is vtilized in the detection of displaced station which are uncluded in the observational network. In this paper, the influences on the accuracy of unknown stations according to the varied selection and geometrical conditions of fixed stations were evaluated. And then the displaced stations were detected by error ellipse concept, and the amounts of displacement were determined by coordinate differences between epochs which were calculated by fixed point adjustment and free network adjustment. As a result, it is found that the free network adjustment is more efficient in the detection and displacement calculation of displaced stations.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient friendly forces location data sharing algorithm in a troops using a low bandwidth radio. The future battlefield is a 'Network Centric Warfare' with a concept of identifying the position and power of the enemy and friendly forces and leading the battlefield to victory through proper links at the time of our need. One of the basic elements in the 'Network Centric Warfare' is to share friendly forces location data. The bandwidth and transmission rates of radio used in battalion are low. Nevertheless, we should share our locations data almost in real time for effective fighting in a war situation. This paper describes the efficient method of friendly forces location data sharing based on low bandwidth radio. In particular, the concept of 'network-centered warfare' is reflected in the troop below the battalion to present an integrated and efficient way to shared location data of friendly forces.

  • In this paper, we analyze the concept of network convergence and characteristics of Broadband convergence Network(BcN) from the service perspective where convergence would appear. We suggest the evolutionary 3 stage steps of BcN as an ideal network strategy when considering present network situation. We also propose the features of several representative services that are expected to emerge out of network convergence.

  • $IP^2$, as an extended concept of the next generation IMT network, is a concept of basically supporting mobility using two steps of IP address (i.e. IPha (IP Host address) and IPra (IP routing address)) in IP backbone network. Current $IP^2$system has a shortcoming of excess usage of network resources caused by sending paging messages to all cells in LA (Location Area) in paging procedure. Considering the evolving direction of network, which is taking mobility with various speed and integration of devices into consideration, this shortcoming must be overcome. In this paper, we proposed a method to reduce time and memory for paging by maintaining current information of MN (Mobile Node) not in Active state with proxy server. Performance evaluation based on NS-2 simulations has shown that the efficiency of network resources is improved in the proposed method.
