  • A system dynamics model is developed to investigate the applicability of the agent based modeling concept in the system dynamics model. The assumed problem is to forecast the size and structure of the organization with the developing market environment. The agent based modeling concept is applied to the organization part, and the other parts of the model such as market, facilities, etc. are developed with the traditional system dynamics technique. The simulation results show the agent based modeling part can be combined with the traditional system dynamics modeling with more precisions. However, the complexity increases and the simulation times are longer than those of the traditional method.

  • We propose a new method of robot manipulator modeling. Different from existing modelers, our modeler provides a convenient robot modeling configured from modules from module library or module modeling. In addition, a way of using D-H parameters to configure a robot is proposed. These additional functions of robot modeling can be a powerful and flexible tool for various needs of robot modeling. We show an example of modeling with our approach.

  • Network-Centric Warfare is a forthcoming military revolution paradigm for maximizing combat effectiveness in terms of information superiority. However, quantitative assessment of information effect is a challenging issue. Among the many approaches, war-game is a well known method to evaluate combat effectiveness. However, previous researches and current models have a limited function or logic to simulate information process, which is core concept of NCW. So this research suggests a concept of simulation modeling method to describe the information process as defining of combat information process based on probability decision model. In addition, we suggest a simple scenario to represent proposed concept modelling method. This results can be used in designing war-game analysis model for enhanced information effectiveness.

  • A concept of hierarchical modeling, the newest modeling technology. has been introduced early In 1990. This nu technology has a goat potential to advance the capabilities of current computational mechanics. A first step to Implement this concept is to construct hierarchical models, a family of mathematical models which are sequentially connected by a key parameter of the problem under consideration and have different levels in modeling accuracy, and to investigate characteristics In their numerical simulation aspects. Among representative model problems to explore this concept are elastic structures such as beam-, arch-. plate- and shell-like structures because the mechanical behavior through the thickness can be approximated with sequential accuracy by varying the order of thickness polynomials in the displacement or stress fields. But, in the numerical analysis of hierarchical models, two kinds of errors prevail: the modeling error and the numerical approximation errors. To ensure numerical simulation quality, an accurate estimation of these two errors Is definitely essential. Here, a local a posteriori error estimator for elastic structures with thin domain such as plate- and shell-like structures Is derived using element residuals and flux balancing technique. This method guarantees upper bounds for the global error, and also provides accurate local error Indicators for two types of errors, in the energy norm. Comparing to the classical error estimators using flux averaging technique, this shows considerably reliable and accurate effectivity indices. To illustrate the theoretical results and to verify the validity of the proposed error estimator, representative numerical examples are provided.

  • We present an innovative means of numerically treating interfaces associated with chemically active energetic materials. Recent advances in wave tracking technique based on the Ghost Fluid Concept is extended to handle multi-material multi-phase interfaces associated with chemical environment associated with explosion. We show several work-in-progress applications of our code, including the impact problems involving both energetic and inert elements.   • In this paper, we propose an efficient internet-based logistics brokerage concept which can overcome the weakness of the traditional off-line method to intermediate between vehicle owners and shippers for matching empty vehicles and freights. For defining a business model based on the new concept and implementing an information system, it is necessary to analyze the business process for the internet-based logistics brokerage using a modeling methodology. In this paper, we analyze the logistics brokerage process using the UN/CEFACT Modeling Methodology (UMM) being utilized as a standard modeling methodology in the area of electronic commerce. After analyzing the business process, we can expect that the UMM can be used as a useful tool for modeling the business process of electronic commerce in which the description of the collaborative work is very important.

  • Because of limited resources of time and information processing capability during abnormal situation, diagnosis is difficult tasks in nuclear power plant (NPP) operators. Moreover since minimizing of adverse consequences according to process abnormalities is vital for the safety of NPP, introducing of diagnosis support systems have particularly emphasized. However, considerable works to develop effective diagnostic support system are not sufficiently fulfilled because of the complexity of NPP is one of the major problems. To cope with this complexity, a lot of model-based diagnosis support systems have considered and implemented worldwide. In this paper, as a prior step to development of model-based diagnosis support systems, primary side of pressurized water reactor is functionally modeled by multilevel flow modeling (MFM) concept. MFM is suitable for complex system modeling and for diagnosis of abnormalities. Furthermore, knowledge-based diagnosis process, of NPP operator could be supported because this diagnosis strategy can represent operator's one.

  • This paper reviews the general concept and application area of Supply Chain Management (SCM). Then, the general concept, function, modeling methodology, and operation methodology of Supply Chain Simulation are also reviewed. SCM software solutions and their modules developed by popular IT companies are introduced and compared. The role of simulation in SCM is emphasized as a strategic decision making solution for modeling and analyzing dynamics of a supply chain. Several stand-alone supply chain simulators are introduced and compared.

  • The purpose of this study is to encourage the role of domain to consider the teaching of the concept of functions in modeling real situations. To do this, it is analyzed that how to introduce the concept of functions and linear functions in textbooks treated in the 1st grade and the 2nd grade of middle school. This study also reviewed the role of domain in representational activities for modeling real situations using linear functions. In these reviews, it found that many textbooks do not consider the domain in the equations of functions and these graphs and several text books used linear functions for modeling real situations which are not represented by linear functions contextually. It is concluded that the domain of function is an important concept that will be considered any representational activities for functions.
