The primary objective of this study was to determine the optimal mixing ratio in preparing Omi-Galsu concentrate. By varying the amounts of Omija extract, mung bean juice, and sugar in the concentrate mixture, we found that pH increased with greater amounts of Omija extract and sugar. According to sensory evaluations, sugar and total free sugar contents were highest when the mixing ratio was 1:1:20%(Omija extract, mung bean juice, and sugar respectively). This ratio also presented the most attractive color and highest overall acceptability.

The objective of this study was to investigate microbial population in the rumen of dairy steers as influenced by supplementing with dietary condensed tannins and saponins and different roughage to concentrate ratios. Four, rumen fistulated dairy steers (Bos indicus) were used in a $2{\times}2$ factorial arrangement in a $4{\times}4$ Latin square design. The main factors were two roughage to concentrate ratios (R:C, 60:40 and 40:60) and two supplementations of rain tree pod meal (RPM) (0 and 60 g/kg of total DM intake). Chopped 30 g/kg urea treated rice straw was used as a roughage source. All animals received feed according to respective R:C ratios at 25 g/kg body weight. The RPM contained crude tannins and saponins at 84 and 143 g/kg of DM, respectively. It was found that ruminal pH decreased while ruminal temperature increased by a higher concentrate ratio (R:C 40:60) (p<0.05). In contrast, total bacterial, Ruminococus albus and viable proteolytic bacteria were not affected by dietary supplementation. Numbers of fungi, cellulolytic bacteria, Fibrobactor succinogenes and Ruminococus flavefaciens were higher while amylolytic bacteria was lower when steers were fed at 400 g/kg of concentrate. The population of Fibrobactor succinogenes, was found to be higher with RPM supplementation. In addition, the use of real-time PCR technique indicated that the population of protozoa and methanogens were decreased (p<0.05) with supplementation of RPM and with an increasing concentrate ratio. Supplementation of RPM and feeding different concentrate ratios resulted in changing the rumen microbes especially, when the animals were fed at 600 g/kg of concentrate and supplemented with RPM which significantly reduced the protozoa and methanogens population.
Formula feed for fattening cattle ground through 2 mm screen was incubated in the rumen of sheep and goats to evaluate effects of ratio of concentrate to hay and kinds of hay in a ration on determining the degradability (dg) value of protein using in sacco technique. Following results were obtained: 1) Residual dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) of formula feed decreased as the time of incubation increased. Regression analyses showed that rates of degradation of DM and CP in the rumen were not the same when they were determined under feeding of rations with different percentages of concentrate. 2) Rate of passage of digesta from the rumen differed between feeding of Italian ryegrass hay ration and that of alfalfa hay ration, but was not influenced by the percentage of concentrate in a ration. 3) The dg value was different when it was estimated with results obtained from determinations under feeding of Italian ryegrass hay ration or that of alfalfa hay ration. The percentage of concentrate in a ration had no influence on the dg value of protein in formula feed.
Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of forage:concentrate ratios and feeding principles on milk yield, milk composition, body weight change, postpartum oestrus and feed cost. A total of 36 crossbred F1 cows (Holstein Friesian${\times}$Local Yellow) in the 8th week of lactation were used. In each experiment, animals were divided into three groups using a randomized block design according to the milk yield of the previous eight weeks. Cows were fed 30, 50 and 70% concentrate in the diet based on DM. In experiment 1 (Fc), cows were given the same amount of DM with constant ratios of forage and concentrate within treatments. In experiment 2 (Fa), cows were given the same constant amounts of concentrate as in experiment 1 and ad libitum forage. The forage consisted of a natural grass mixture based on 5 species of grasses with high nutritive values. There was no difference in total DM intake between treatments within experiments. However, cows fed forage ad libitum had higher DM intakes compared to cows fed constant forage (1.6, 4.5 and 9.5% for cows fed 70, 50 and 30% forage, respectively). Daily milk yield of cows fed forage ad libitum was higher than that of cows fed constant forage:concentrate ratio. Within experiment, milk yield was highest for cows fed 30% DM forage, followed by cows fed 50% and then cows fed 70% forage (11.17, 10.98 and 10.71 for the 30Fc, 50Fc and 70Fc cows; 11.73, 11.16 and 10.81 kg for the 30Fa, 50Fa and 70Fa cows, respectively). Decreased forage ratio in the diets resulted in decreased milk fat content and tended to increase milk protein. Increased concentrate ratio in the diet and feeding forage ad libitum increased body weight gain. The effect of forage:concentrate ratio on postpartum oestrus was not significant. The feed cost per kg milk produced was lowest for the cows fed 70% forage. It is concluded that increased ratio of concentrate resulted in increased body weight gain, milk yield, milk protein, and decreased milk fat. Feeding forage ad libitum increased feed intake, milk yield and body weight gain. The ratio of 50% forage is more suitable for milk production and animal condition, but in terms of feed cost and under the conditions of small dairy farmers, the 70% ad libitum forage feeding is recommended.

This study investigated the effect of concentrate of membrane filtration of sewage reuse facilities on bioreactor's microorganisms in sewage treatment facility, and concentrate was analyzed, oxygen uptake rate and continuous activated sludge experiment were performed. As a results, the concentration of organic matter and TP concentration in concentrate was closely related to the concentration of SS and the concentration of ionic substances in concentrate was higher in order of $Cl^-$ > $Na^+$ > $Ca^{2+}$ > $K^+$ > $Mg^{2+}$ > $F^-$. And the analysis value of analytical items was greatly fluctuated according to sampling time of concentrate. Result of OUR test according to the mixing ratio of concentrate to sewage, it was found that the concentrate acts as an organic matter in the activated sludge microorganism and it increases with the increase of the concentrate mixing ratio. As a result of continuous activated sludge experiment, MLSS concentration, organic removal efficiency and TN removal efficiency gradually decreased with increasing concentrate mixing ratio. Based on the experimental results, expected mixing ratio of concentrate to affect the treatment efficiency of activated sludge is 25%.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality characteristics of Yackwa added with mulberry concentrate (0, 1, 2, 3%). The sugar concentration ($^{\circ}Brix$) and reducing sugar content (%) increased with higher amount of mulberry concentrate. As the concentration of mulberry concentrate increased, the puffing and oil absorption ratio of Yackwa also increased. Hardness of Yackwa added with mulberry concentrate was lower than that of control. The antioxidant activity as measured by DPPH radical scavenging activity of mulberry concentrate increased with higher mulberry concentrate amount. The sensory results showed that overall preference scores of Yackwa added with mulberry concentrate were higher than that of control. These results suggest that the optimum amount of mulberry concentrate added to Yackwa is 3%.
This study was to investigate the quality characteristics of Seockryu-pyun by addition of different ratio of pomegranate juice and pomegranate concentrate (100%, 80%, 60%, 40%). Moisture and the pH increased as the content of pomegranate juice and pomegranate concentrate decreased respectivley. However, DPPH radical scavenging activity was decreased when adding pomegranate juice and pomegranate concentrate was decreased. With decreasing pomegranate juice addition, both the lightness(L) and yellowness(b) was significantly (p<0.05) higher, whereas, the redness(a) was significantly (p<0.05) lower. As addition of pomegranate concentrate was decreasing that lightness, a value and b value were higher. Texture profiles of hardness, adhesiveness, cohesiveness, gumminess, chewiness of Seockryu-pyun was not greatly showed significant difference among samples. Also, springiness was not significantly (p<0.05) different in any groups. For sensory evaluation, color and sourness were decreased as pomegranate juice and pomegranate concentrate was diluted. Seockryu-pyun, PJ3 made with addition of 60% pomegranate juice was the most preferred in overall acceptability. From the results, the most advisable mixture ratio of Seockryu-pyun was found as pomegranate juice 360 g (60%), water 240 g, mungbean starch 60 g and sugar 200 g.

The influence of fiber content of hay (low-fiber 47% NDF and high-fiber 62% NDF of DM) and concentrate level (high 50% and low 20% of ration DM) on chewing activity, passage rate and nutrient digestibility were tested on four restrict-fed (11.1 to 13.7 kg DM/d) Holstein cows in late lactation. Aspects of ruminal fermentation and digesta particle size distribution were also investigated on two ruminally cannulated (100 mm i.d.) cows of the same group of animals. All digestion parameters studied were more affected by the fiber content of the hay and its ratio to non structural carbohydrates than by the concentrate level. Giving a diet of high-fiber (62% NDF) hay and low concentrate level (20%) increased chewing activity but decreased solid passage rate and total digestibility of nutrients due to a limited availability of fermentable OM in the late cut fiber rich hay. A supplementation of high-fiber hay with 50% concentrate in the diet seems to improve the ruminal digestion of cell contents, whilst a depression of the ruminal fiber digestibility was not completely avoided. Giving a diet of low-fiber (47% NDF) hay and high concentrate level (50%) reduced markedly the chewing and rumination activity, affected negatively the rumen conditions and, consequently, the ruminal digestion of fiber. A reduction of the concentrate level from 50 to 20% in the diet of low-fiber hay improved the rumen conditions as reflected by an increase of the ruminal solid passage rate and of fiber digestibility and in a decrease of the concentration of large particles and of the mean particle size of the rumen digesta and of the faeces. Generally, it can be summarised that, (i) concentrate supplementation is not a strategy to overcome limitations of low quality (fiber-rich) hay, and (ii) increase of the roughage quality is an effective strategy in ruminant nutrition, especially when concentrate availability for ruminants is limited.
The effect of concentrate mixtures with crude protein (CP) levels 10%, 13%, 16%, and 19% and diets with roughage to concentrate ratios 80:20, 60:40, 40:60, and 20:80 (w/w) were determined on dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) digestibility, and fermentation metabolites using an in vitro fermentation technique. In vitro fermented attributes were measured after 4, 24, and 48 h of incubation respectively. The digestibility of DM and OM, and total volatile fatty acid (VFA) increased whereas pH decreased with the increased amount of concentrate in the diet (p<0.001), however CP levels of concentrate did not have any influence on these attributes. Gas production reduced with increased CP levels, while it increased with increasing concentrate levels. Ammonia nitrogen ($NH_3$-N) concentration and microbial CP production increased significantly (p<0.05) by increasing CP levels and with increasing concentrate levels in diet as well, however, no significant difference was found between 16% and 19% CP levels. Therefore, 16% CP in concentrate and increasing proportion of concentrate up to 80% in diet all had improved digestibility of DM and organic matter, and higher microbial protein production, with improved fermentation characteristics.
