경사식구조물 오목부 구간의 파랑증폭 실험 (Hydraulic experiments on wave amplification at concave corner for rubble mound structures)

  • 평면 수리실험을 통해 경사식구조물의 오목부 구간에 대한 파고 증폭을 검토하였다. 실험에 적용된 경사식 구조물 단면은 1:1.5의 경사면에 테트라포드가 2층 피복되어 있는 형상이다. 실험파는 Bretschneider-Mitsuyasu 스펙트럼을 적용한 불규칙파를 적용하였으며, 오목부의 중심각도는 $120^{\circ}$, $140^{\circ}$$160^{\circ}$를 적용하였다. 실험결과에 따르면 오목부 구간에서의 입사파고에 대한 파고증폭비는 본 실험에서 적용한 실험조건 내에서 최대 1.5배로 계측되었으며, 상대파고비의 분포형태는 오목부의 중심에서 최대가 되고, 오목부를 중심으로 거리가 멀어질수록 감소했다 다시 증가하는 형태인 W자 형태를 나타내었다.

우각부 방파제의 우각부 부근에서의 다방향불규칙 파랑의 파고분포에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wave-height Distribution of Multidirectional Random Waves at the Concave Corner by Refracted Breakwater Systems)

  • 본 연구는 방파제의 법선이 일직선상이 아닌 우각부를 갖는 방파제의 전면 그리고 우각부 부근에서 다방향불규칙파의 파고를 예측하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 경계적분방정식을 이용하여 도제 전면에서의 파고분포에 관한 수치계산을 실시하고, 얻어진 결과를 합전 등(合田 等)(1971)이 제시한 고유함수의 엄밀해와 근사해, 그리고 기존의 다른 수치해에 의해 얻어진 결과와 비교한다. 또한, 우각부 방파제에 의한 불규칙파의 파고분포의 결과를 기존의 해석해의 결과와 비교 검증한다. 이러한 비교 검증 결과를 토대로 하여, 우각부 제체각과 입사방향을 다양하게 설정하여 우각부 방파제 전면에서의 파고분포를 제시하였고, 현재 건설 중인 우각부 방파제의 전면에서 파고 예측을 실시한다. 모든 경우에 대하여 훌륭한 일치를 나타내고 있으며, 본 연구는 다양한 형태의 우각부(혹은 직선상) 방파제에 의한 불규칙파랑의 파고분포의 평가를 위하여 유효하게 사용될 수 있다.

DETECTION AND COUNTING OF FLOWERS BASED ON DIGITAL IMAGES USING COMPUTER VISION AND A CONCAVE POINT DETECTION TECHNIQUE

  • In this paper we propose a new algorithm for detecting and counting flowers in a complex background based on digital images. The algorithm mainly includes the following parts: edge contour extraction of flowers, edge contour determination of overlapped flowers and flower counting. We use a contour detection technique in Computer Vision (CV) to extract the edge contours of flowers and propose an improved algorithm with a concave point detection technique to find accurate segmentation for overlapped flowers. In this process, we first use the polygon approximation to smooth edge contours and then adopt the second-order central moments to fit ellipse contours to determine whether edge contours overlap. To obtain accurate segmentation points, we calculate the curvature of each pixel point on the edge contours with an improved Curvature Scale Space (CSS) corner detector. Finally, we successively give three adaptive judgment criteria to detect and count flowers accurately and automatically. Both experimental results and the proposed evaluation indicators reveal that the proposed algorithm is more efficient for flower counting.

레이저 코너 패턴의 매칭을 이용한 이동 로봇의 EKF 기반 SLAM (EKF-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping of Mobile Robot using Laser Corner Pattern Matching)

  • In this paper, we propose an extended Kalman filter(EKF)-based simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) method using laser corner pattern matching for mobile robots. SLAM is one of the most important problems of mobile robot. However, existing method has the disadvantage of increasing the computation time, depending on the number of landmarks. To improve computation time, we produce the corner pattern using classified and detected corner points. After producing the corner patterns, it is estimated that mobile robot's global position by matching them. The estimated position is used as measurement model in the EKF. To evaluated proposed method, we preformed the experiments in the indoor environments. Experimental results of proposed method are shown to maintain an accuracy and decrease the computation time.

Region-based Corner Detection by Radial Projection

  • We propose a novel method which detects convex and concave corners using radial projection. The sum of two neighbors' differences at the local maxima or minima of the radial projection is compared with the angle threshold for detecting corners. In addition, the use of oriented bounding box trees and partial circles makes it possible to detect the corners of complex shapes. The experimental results show that the proposed method can separately detect the convex and concave corners, and that this method is scale invariant.

Three-Dimensional Limit Equilibrium Stability Analysis of the Irregularly Shaped Excavation Comer with Skew Soil Nailing System

  • 사면보강 또는 굴착면의 안정성 확보를 위해 쏘일례일링 공법이 종종 적용되고 있다. 그러나 오목형태 또는 볼록형태 모서리부와 같은 특수한 지역에 쏘일네일링 공법이 적용되어질 경우, 편기각보강형태, 즉 skew 쏘일네일 형태로 주로 시공쥐고 있다. 하지만, 지금까지 skew 쏘일례일링 공법이 적용된 굴착 모서리부에 대한 3차원 안정해석 및 거동분석 등에 대한 실험이나 연구결과는 미흡한 실정이며, 따라서 보강재의 배치형태, 삽입각도 및 길이 등 관련 설계변수값 결정에 관하여 주로 경험에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 따글윽 본 연구의 주된 목적은, skew 쏘일네일링 공법이 오목형태 굴착 모서리부에 적용되는 경우 이에 대한 3차원 한계평형 안정성 평가기법을 제시하는 데 있다. 3차원 예상 파괴흙쐐기의 형상은 FLAC 프로그램 모델링 및 해석을 통해 결정하였으며, 모서리부에 대한 3차원 침투수압 산정식의 제시 및 해석시 다층지반조건의 고려 등이 포함되었다. 또한 제시된 3차원 안정해석법 을 이용해, 관련 설계변수들의 모서리부 안정성에 미치는 영향 정도를 분석하였다. 아울러 기 제시된 볼록형태 굴착 모서리부의 3차원 안정해석 법을 이용해 skew 쏘일네일 보강패턴의 효율성을 분석하였으며, 또한 굴착과정을 통해 전면부 벽체변위 및 인접지반의 침하 등이 상대적으로 문 제시되는 볼록형태 굴착 모서리부에 대한 변위예측을 위해 준 3차원 유한요소 해석기법 및 중첩기법 등의 적용을 시도하였다.

Measures to control deformation in deep excavation for cut and cover tunneling

  • The bored tunneling method is generally preferred for urban tunnel construction, However the cut & cover tunnel is still necessary for special conditions, such as metro station and access structures. In some case, deep excavation for cut & cover construction is planed of irregular and unusual shape, as a consequence, the convex and concave corner is often encountered during that excavation. In particular, discontinuity or imbalance of the support structure in the convex corner can lead to collapse, which may result in damages and casualties. In this study, the behavior of the convex corner of retaining structure were investigated using 3-dimensional numerical models established to be able to simulate the split-shaped behavior of convex corners. To improve the stability in the vicinity of the convex corner, several stabilizing measures were proposed and estimated numerically. It is found that linking two discretized wales at the convex corner can effectively perform the control of deformation. Furthermore, it was also confirmed that the stabilizing measures can be enhanced when the tie-material linking two discretized wales is installed at the depth of the maximum wall deflection.

A FINITE ELEMENT METHOD USING SIF FOR CORNER SINGULARITIES WITH AN NEUMANN BOUNDARY CONDITION

  • In [8] they introduced a new finite element method for accurate numerical solutions of Poisson equations with corner singularities, which is useful for the problem with known stress intensity factor. They consider the Poisson equations with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition, compute the finite element solution using standard FEM and use the extraction formula to compute the stress intensity factor, then they pose a PDE with a regular solution by imposing the nonhomogeneous boundary condition using the computed stress intensity factor, which converges with optimal speed. From the solution they could get accurate solution just by adding the singular part. This approach works for the case when we have the reasonably accurate stress intensity factor. In this paper we consider Poisson equations defined on a domain with a concave corner with Neumann boundary conditions. First we compute the stress intensity factor using the extraction formular, then find the regular part of the solution and the solution.

Gait Planning of Quadruped Walking and Climbing Robot in Convex Corner Environment

  • When a robot navigates in the real environment, it frequently meets various environments that can be expressed by simple geometrical shapes such as fiat floor, uneven floor, floor with obstacles, slopes, concave or convex corners, etc. Among them, the convex corner composed of two plain surfaces is the most difficult one for the robot to negotiate. In this paper, we propose a gait planning algorithm to help the robot overcome the convex environment. The trajectory of the body is derived from the maximum distance between the edge boundary of the corner and the bottom of the robot when it travels in the convex environment. Additionally, we find the relation between kinematical structure of the robot and its ability of avoiding collision. The relation is realized by considering the workspace and the best posture of the robot in the convex structure. To provide necessary information for the algorithm, we use an IR sensor attached in the leg of the robot to perceive the convex environment. The validity of the gait planning algorithm is verified through simulations and the performance is demonstrated using a quadruped walking robot, called "MRWALLSPECT III"( Multifunctional Robot for WALL inSPECTion version 3).

Modeling Cutter Swept Angle at Cornering Cut

  • When milling concave corners, cutter load increases momentarily and fluctuates severely due to concentration and uneven distribution of material stock. This abrupt change of cutter load produces undesirable machining results such as wavy machined surface and cutter breakage. An important factor for studying cutter load in 2.5D pocket milling is the instantaneous Radial Depth of Cut (RDC). However, previous work on RDC under different corner-cutting conditions is lacking. In this different corner shapes. In our work, we express RDC mathematically in terms of the instantaneous cutter engage angle which is defined as Cutter Swept Angle (CSA). An analytical approach for modeling CSA is explained. Finally, examples are shown to demonstrate that the proposed CSA modeling method can give an accurate prediction of cutter load pattern at cornering cut.
