The chickens fed with the feeds supplemented with green tea(GT) and lactic acid bacteria(LB) were infected orally with 10,000 oocysts per chicken of E. maxima. The groups administered with the feeds supplemented with GT by 0.5% and 2.0% of feed showed the significant levels of decreasing in the number of oocysts shed for 5 days after E. maxima infection. The feeds supplemented with LB by 0.1% and 0.5% of feed were less effective in reducing the number of the fecal oocyst, compared with the groups administered with GT. To evaluate the immunoregulatory effects of the feed additives, the expression patterns of IL-2 and IFN-r in spleen cells were studied by RT-PCR and ELISA. The higher levels of IL-2 transcripts after E. maxima infection were observed in the groups with n, compared with the groups with LB and the mixture of GT and LB. The $IFN-\gamma$ mRNA bands were observed in the all of experimental groups except the uninfected control. The culture supernatants of Con A-stimulated spleen cells($5{\times}10^6cells/ml$) were measured for the concentration of IL-2 and $IFN-\gamma$ by ELISA. The levels of IL-2 and $IFN-\gamma$ on days 3 and 7 after E. maxima infection were significantly augmented in the groups with n. These results indicated that GT-supplemented feeds resulted in higher reduction of oocyst-shedding and more enhanced immune responses in the chicken infected with E. maxima, as compared with LB-supplemented feeds. According to the results, it was implicative that the supplements could be utilized for development of feed additives for anti-coccidiosis.

This paper proposes a extended service filtering technique to solve overload control problems inService Con-trol Poin(SCP) due to Televoting (VOT) services with heavy traffic characteristics. Also, this paper compares this new technique with existing IN overload control lechniques, and calculate steady state call blocking probabilities in In under overload conditions. The proposed technique considers SCP overload and IN CS-1services such as VOT service that need to use the specialized resources of IP. This technique uses first an activating step which SCP sends service filtering request to SSP and IP for the start of service filtering. Then, in the filtering step SSP sendas filtering results to SCP periodically or each N-calls.Also,when filtering time-out timer expired or call counter value exceeded maximum number of calls,SSP stops service filtering, and sends ser-vice filteing response to SCP in the deactivating step. The application of this techique to VOT service defined in IN CS-1 service is investigated and analyzed by using an analytical VOT service model. In order to apply this technique to VOT service, this paper also discusses VOT service and the corresponding N architecture including Service Switching Point(SSP),SCP and IP. Then this paper also constructs an analytical VOT service model, and calculates SCP and SSP/IP(circuit)call blocking probablities. With the application of this new technique, this paper shows good performance enhancements in SCP call blocking probability.

This study was done to investigate the effects of Artemisia selengensis methanol extract on ethanol-induced hepatotoxicty in rat liver. Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats weighing about 150g were divided into the following 4 groups : control group(CON), Astemisia selengensis methanol extract administered group(ASE), ethanol adminstered group(ETH) and Artemisia selengenis methanol extract and ethanol administered group(ASA). Ethanol and Artemisia selengenis methanol extract were administered orally by 5m1/kg and 200mg/kg body weight per day for 6weeks, respectively. Body weight, daily food intake and percent liver weight per body weight were significantly changed by ethanol administration in comparison to control group. The activities of serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT), asparate aminotransferase(AST), and hepatic TBA-reactants increased by ethanol were decreased significantly by Artemisia selengensis methanol extract compared with ethanol group. It was also obseued that superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase were not changed by Artemisia selengensis methanol extract, whereas hepatic xanthine oxidase activity was inhibitied by Artemisia selengensis methanol extract as compared to ethanol group. The glutathione contents in liver decreased by ethanol adminstration, but glutathione levels increased in ASA compared with ethanol group. These results suggest that Artemisia selengenis methanol extract have a possible protective effect on the ethanol-induced hepatotoxicity in rat liver.
In order to maximize the RNA accumulation and biomass production is Saccharomyces cerevisiae MTY62, a high-content RNA yeast strain, batch and fed-batch cultures were performed. Among the feeding modes of fed-batch cultures examined, the intermittent feeding mode R\`(IFB-lV), in which 50 ml of 40% molasses and 20% com steep liquor (CSL) solution was intermittently fed for 5 times, resulted in the cell concentration of 33.8 g- dry cell weight/1 and the RNA concentration of 5221 mg-/l, and RNA content of 153 mg-RNA/g-dry cell weight. The constant fed-batch with feeding mode III (CFB-III), in which the feeding rate of 40% molasses and 20% CSL solution was stepwisely decreased from 48 mph (9-13 h), to 24 mph (13-21 h), and to 18 ml/h (21∼ 48 h), gave the highest cell concentration of 42.7 g-dry ceil weigh71 and R7IA concentration of 5536 mg-RNA/1, which were about 2.4-fold and 1.9-fold increased levels, respectively, compared to the results of batch culture. However, the RNA con- tent of 130 mg-RNA/g-dry cell weight of the fed-batch was lower than that of the batch culture (171 mg-RNA/g-dry cell weight) and other fed-batch cultures. When the specific growth rates in the fed-batch cultures were increased, the RNA contents increased. This result indicates that the RNA content is adversely proportional to the cell concen- tration. However, at the same specific growth rate, the RNA content was maintained at higher level in the intermit- tent fed-batch than in the constant fed-batch culture.
For the detection of the oil-degrading bacterium, Nocardia sp. Hl7-1, inoculated during the bioremediation of oil-contaminated soil, a species-specific primer was constructed based on the 16S rDNA sequence of this strain. Two forward primers and two reverse primers were designed and tested against both closely and distantly related bacterial strains. All the primers designed were specific to the Nocardia sp. H17-1. Particularly, primer sets NH169F-NH972R and NH575F-NH972R could be used to detect 50 fg of template DNA and TEX>$1.2${\times}$10^4$ CFU/g of sandy soil. These two PCR primer sets successfully detected the H 17-1 strain in the oil-con-laminated soil samples containing heterogeneous DNA. We also conformed the primer specificity by restriction-enzyme cleavage of the PCR products and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis.
Hizikia fusiforme(sea weed fusiforme) has long been used for food source in this country. This study was performed to evalute the immunomodulative effects of Hizikia fusiforme (sea weed fusiforme) in mouse, using in vivo experiments. In vivo experiment, different concentration (0, 50, 500 mg/kg B.W.) of Hizikia fusiforme water extracts were orally administrated into mouse every other day for two weeks. The proliferation of mouse splenocytes, the production of three cytokines ($IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha})$ secreted by activated macrophage. Splenocyte proliferation was enhanced in mouse orally administrated with 50 mg/kg B.W. and 500 mg/kg B.W. concentration compared to that of control group. Especially, the highest proliferation of spleoncyte was seen from the mouse orally administrated at the concentration of 50 mg/kg B.W. Also, the mouse of Hizikia fusiforme water extracts supplementation group in the both concentrations showed enhanced levels of cytokine production by activated peritoneal macrophages compared to those in control group. The highest level of cytokine ($IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha})$ production was observed at 50 mg/kg B.W. supplementation group with LPS stimulation in all cases.
Objectives: The aim of the present study was to explore mechanisms underlying the effects of down-regulating ${\beta}$-catenin expression on esophageal carcinoma (EC) cells. Methods: Cell cycle distribution and apoptosis were determined using flow cytometry and annexin V apoptosis assay, respectively. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to examine changes in ultrastructure, while expression of cyclin D1 protein and mRNA was detected by western blot and real-time PCR. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1-2 were evaluated by Western blot analysis. PCNA labeling index (LI) was determined by immunocytochemistry. Results: Compared with pGen-3-con transfected and Eca-109 cells, the percentage of G0/G1-phase pGen-3-CTNNB1 transfected cells was obviously increased (P<0.05), with no significant difference among the three groups with regard to apoptosis (P>0.05). pGen-3-CTNNB1 transfected cells exhibited obvious decrease in cyclin D1 mRNA and protein expression (P<0.05) and the ultrastructure of Eca-109 cells underwent a significant change after being transfected with pGen-3-CTNNB1, suggesting that down-regulating ${\beta}$-catenin expression can promote the differentiation and maturation. The expression of PCNA and the ERKI/2 phosphorylation state were also down-regulated in pGen-3-CTNNB1 transfected cells (P<0.05). At the same time, the PCNA labeling index was decreased accordingly (P<0.05). Conclusion: Inhibition of EC Eca-109 cellproliferation by down-regulating ${\beta}$-catenin expression could improve cell ultrastructure by mediating blockade in G0/G1 through inhibiting cyclin D1, PCNA and the MAPK pathway (p-ERK1/2).
This study is on the effects of lifelong education participative motivation, self-efficacy, and self-directed learning on subjective happiness of middle age adults. Middle age adults 40-64 years old are questionnaire survey target in Incheon and Gyeonggido and total 289 copies among 300 were analyzed through SPSS 21.0. The major findings of this study con be seen as follows: The variables more affected on educational satisfaction of middle age adults are goal-oriented motivation and activity-oriented motivation in lifelong education participative motivation, self-regulated efficacy in self-efficacy, and each personality, recognition and environment in self-directed learning. In conclusion, new paradigm is needed for middle age adults in lifelong learning society. This program should provide them with knowledge and information for adapting the future society, Furthermore, middle age adults can achieve their own self exploration, self-development and self-realization through the lifelong education program. Given a chance of lifelong education, middle age adults should be provided with the specific programs.
Beyond the technological behaviorism-oriented notion of prosumers, the current study explores the question of digital creative labour of the youth in the interrelated context of post-capitalist crisis and neoliberal ethos of selfhood. This analysis is situated particularly in the social conflicts and struggles in Korea, where the problems related to the precarization of the younger generation have been increasingly aggravated (in the realm of embodied reality) whereas their digital activities have been highly expressive (in the realm of mediated reality). The contradictions embedded in the question of the labour of the youth are delineated in the respect of the subjectivities of young free labour, or 'digital creative labour' in proposed terms: the precarious young free labour in Korea is the compound of social fragmentation, economic polarization, expansion of cognitive and emotion labour, boom of hedonistic consumerism, economic-cultural celebration of creativity and self-entrepreneurship, technological saturation of digital media, subjective/collective affects around excitement and ambition but also of anxiety and fear. The ambivalence and complexity of the young free labour is converged at the emergence of homo-economicus (Michel Foucault) through the subjectivation of the social (con)fusion of post-capitalist crisis and neoliberal governmentality of selfhood.
