Automatic Display Quality Measurement by Image Processing

  • This paper presented an automatic system for display quality measurement by image processing. The goal is to replace human eyes for display quality evaluation by computer vision and get the objective quality review for consumer to make purchase of monitor or TV. Color, contrast, brightness, sharpness and motion blur are the main five factors to affect display quality that could be measured by supplying patterns and analyzing the corresponding images captured from webcam. The scores are calculated by image processing techniques. Linear regression model is then adopted to find the relation between human score and the measured display performance.

연결 성분 분류를 이용한 PCB 결함 검출 (PCB Defects Detection using Connected Component Classification)

  • This paper proposes computer visual inspection algorithms for PCB defects which are found in a manufacturing process. The proposed method can detect open circuit and short circuit on bare PCB without using any reference images. It performs adaptive threshold processing for the ROI (Region of Interest) of a target image, median filtering to remove noises, and then analyzes connected components of the binary image. In this paper, the connected components of circuit pattern are defined as 6 types. The proposed method classifies the connected components of the target image into 6 types, and determines an unclassified component as a defect of the circuit. The analysis of the original target image detects open circuits, while the analysis of the complement image finds short circuits. The machine vision inspection system is implemented using C language in an embedded Linux system for a high-speed real-time image processing. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithms are quite successful.

  • 영상처리에 관한 이론을 제공하고 있는 대부분의 서적들은 여러 가지 영상처리 과정은 프로그램 코드로, 영상처리 결과는 결과 영상만을 단순하게 제공하고 있기 때문에 학습자가 그 처리과정과 결과를 직접 확인하기 위해서는 별도의 컴파일러를 사용해야 하는 불편함이 있다. 따라서 이론 학습과 동시에 그 결과를 확인할 수 있도록 실습을 병행할 수 있는 학습 도구의 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 영상처리에 관한 이론을 단원 별로 체계적으로 학습할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 해당 단원에 관계되는 영상처리과정을 이해할 수 있도록 제공되는 실습 창을 통해 직접 프로그램을 작성하고 실행하여 그 결과를 확인할 수 있는 현장 실습이 가능한 영상처리 학습 시스템을 제시 한다. 제시하는 시스템은 플랫폼에 독립인 시스템이 되기 위해서 자바 언어로 구현하였으며, 학습 내용의 체계적인 관리와 제공을 위해서 단원 별 내용을 데이터베이스로 구성함으로써 사용자가 필요에 따라 단원 별로 재학습하기에 적합하도록 구성하였다.

  • We are developing a teleconference system based on 3D medical image. The system consists in three sub-systems : conference operating system, medical image processing system and database management system. It makes it possible efficient computer-supported coorperative work among remote multi-located hospitals. In this paper, we present functions of each subsystem that have implemented until now.

  • For 3D display applications, auto-stereoscopic display methods that can provide 3D images without glasses have been actively developed. This paper is concerned with developing a display system for elemental images of real space using integral imaging. Unlike the conventional method, which reduces a color image to the level as much as a generated depth image does, we have minimized original color image data loss by generating an enlarged depth image with interpolation methods. Our method was efficiently implemented by applying a GPU parallel processing technique with OpenCL to rapidly generate a large amount of elemental image data. We also obtained experimental results for displaying higher quality integral imaging rather than one generated by previous methods.

  • This study was to develop a system for grading apples by their color using statistical image processing. T-test was used to detect edges in apple images and the chain code method was used for contour coding. The histogram and mean gray level of each RGB channel in a ring-shaped region was used to compare apple colors to reference apple color.

Automation for Oyster Hinge Breaking System

  • A computer vision system was developed to automatically detect and locate the oyster hinge line, one step in shucking an oyster. The computer vision system consisted of a personal computer, a color frame grabber, a color CCD video camera with a zoom lens, two video monitor, a specially designed fixture to hold the oyster, a lighting system to illuminate the oyster and the system software. The software consisted of a combination of commercially available programs and custom designed programs developed using the Microsoft CTM . Test results showed that the image resolution was the most important variable influencing hinge detection efficiency. Whether or not the trimmed -off-flat-white surface area was dry or wet, the oyster size relative to the image size selected , and the image processing methods used all influenced the hinge locating efficiency. The best computer software and hardware combination used successfully located 97% of the oyster hinge lines tested. This efficienc was achieve using camera field of view of 1.9 by 1.5cm , a 180 by 170 pixel image window, and a dry trimmed -off oyster hinge end surface.

기계 시각과 인공 신경망을 이용한 파란의 판별 (Detection of Surface Cracks in Eggshell by Machine Vision and Artificial Neural Network)

  • A machine vision system was built to obtain single stationary image from an egg. This system includes a CCD camera, an image processing board and a lighting system. A computer program was written to acquire, enhance and get histogram from an image. To minimize the evaluation time, the artificial neural network with the histogram of the image was used for eggshell evaluation. Various artificial neural networks with different parameters were trained and tested. The best network(64-50-1 and 128-10-1) showed an accuracy of 87.5% in evaluating eggshell. The comparison test for the elapsed processing time per an egg spent by this method(image processing and artificial neural network) and by the processing time per an egg spent by this method(image processing and artificial neural network) and by the previous method(image processing only) revealed that it was reduced to about a half(5.5s from 10.6s) in case of cracked eggs and was reduced to about one-fifth(5.5s from 21.1s) in case of normal eggs. This indicates that a fast eggshell evaluation system can be developed by using machine vision and artificial neural network.

  • This paper is concerned with the measurement of static and dynamic displacement by image processing(IP) and study for prediction method of velocity and acceleration. To measure the displacement visually, the measurement system consists of a telephoto zoom camera, ccd image device and a computer. The specific target on the white board is used to calculate the displacement of the structure. The captured image is then converted into a pixel-based data and then analyzed numerically. The limitation of the system depends on the image capturing speed and the pixel-size of image. In this paper, we developed for the displacement measurement using the image processing method. The proposed method enables us to measure the vibration measurement, velocity and acceleration directly without any contact. The current resolution of the displacement measurement is limited to 1/100 millimeter scale.
