Computer vision-based gesture recognition systems consist of image segmentation, object tracking and decision. However, it is difficult to segment an object from image for gesture in computer systems because of vaious illuminations and backgrounds. In this paper, we describe a method to learn features for segmentation, which improves the performance of computer vision-based hand-gesture recognition systems. Systems interact with a user to acquire exact training data and segment information according to a predefined plan. System provides some models to the user, takes pictures of the user's response and then analyzes the pictures with models and a prior knowledge. The system sends messages to the user and operates learning module to extract information with the analyzed result.
The implementation of human-like robot has been advanced in various parts such as mechanic arms, legs, and applications of five senses. The vision applications have been developed in several decades and especially the face recognition have become a prominent issue. In addition, the development of computer systems makes it possible to process complex algorithms in realtime. The most of human recognition systems adopt the discerning method using fingerprint, iris, and etc. These methods restrict the motion of the person to be discriminated. Recently, the researchers of human recognition systems are interested in facial recognition by using machine vision. Thus, the object of this paper is the implementation of the realtime ...
Since GPS signals are vulnerable to interference and obstruction, many alternate aiding systems have been proposed to integrate with an inertial navigation system. Among these alternate systems, the vision-aided method has become more attractive due to its benefits in weight, cost and power consumption. This paper proposes a loosely-coupled vision/INS integrated navigation method which can work in GPS-denied environments. The proposed method improves the navigation accuracy by correcting INS navigation and sensor errors using position and attitude outputs of a landmark based vision navigation system. Furthermore, it has advantage to provide redundant navigation output regardless of INS output. Computer simulations and the van tests have been carried out in order to show validity of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method works well and gives reliable navigation outputs with better performance.

Transformers are the most famous deep learning models that has achieved great success in natural language processing and also showed good performance on computer vision. In this survey, we categorized transformer-based models for computer vision, particularly object detection tasks and perform comprehensive comparative experiments to understand the characteristics of each model. Next, we evaluated the models subdivided into standard transformer, with key point attention, and adding attention with coordinates by performance comparison in terms of object detection accuracy and real-time performance. For performance comparison, we used two metrics: frame per second (FPS) and mean average precision (mAP). Finally, we confirmed the trends and relationships related to the detection and real-time performance of objects in several transformer models using various experiments.

To assess structural condition in a non-destructive manner, computer vision-based structural health monitoring (SHM) has become a focus. Compared to traditional contact-type sensors, the advantages of computer vision-based measurement systems include lower installation costs and broader measurement areas. In this study, we propose a novel computer vision-based vibration measurement and coarse-to-fine damage assessment method for truss bridges. First, a deep learning model FairMOT is introduced to track the regions of interest (ROIs) that include joints to enhance the automation performance compared with traditional target tracking algorithms. To calculate the displacement of the tracked ROIs accurately, a normalized cross-correlation method is adopted to fine-tune the offset, while the Harris corner matching is utilized to correct the vibration displacement errors caused by the non-parallel between the truss plane and the image plane. Then, based on the advantages of the stochastic damage locating vector (SDLV) and Bayesian inference-based stochastic model updating (BI-SMU), they are combined to achieve the coarse-to-fine localization of the truss bridge's damaged elements. Finally, the severity quantification of the damaged components is performed by the BI-SMU. The experiment results show that the proposed method can accurately recognize the vibration displacement and evaluate the structural damage.
Hand gesture recognition is an important area of research in the field of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). The geometric attributes of the hand play an important role in hand shape reconstruction and gesture recognition. That said, fingertips are one of the important attributes for the detection of hand gestures and can provide valuable information from hand images. Many methods are available in scientific literature for fingertips detection with an open hand but very poor results are available for fingertips detection when the hand is closed. This paper presents a new method for the detection of fingertips in a closed hand using the corner detection method and an advanced edge detection algorithm. It is important to note that the skin color segmentation methodology did not work for fingertips detection in a closed hand. Thus the proposed method applied Gabor filter techniques for the detection of edges and then applied the corner detection algorithm for the detection of fingertips through the edges. To check the accuracy of the method, this method was tested on a vast number of images taken with a webcam. The method resulted in a higher accuracy rate of detections from the images. The method was further implemented on video for testing its validity on real time image capturing. These closed hand fingertips detection would help in controlling an electro-mechanical robotic hand via hand gesture in a natural way.
Currently most of the vision-based structural identification research focus either on structural input (vehicle location) estimation or on structural output (structural displacement and strain responses) estimation. The structural condition assessment at global level just with the vision-based structural output cannot give a normalized response irrespective of the type and/or load configurations of the vehicles. Combining the vision-based structural input and the structural output from non-contact sensors overcomes the disadvantage given above, while reducing cost, time, labor force including cable wiring work. In conventional traffic monitoring, sometimes traffic closure is essential for bridge structures, which may cause other severe problems such as traffic jams and accidents. In this study, a completely non-contact structural identification system is proposed, and the system mainly targets the identification of bridge unit influence line (UIL) under operational traffic. Both the structural input (vehicle location information) and output (displacement responses) are obtained by only using cameras and computer vision techniques. Multiple cameras are synchronized by audio signal pattern recognition. The proposed system is verified with a laboratory experiment on a scaled bridge model under a small moving truck load and a field application on a footbridge on campus under a moving golf cart load. The UILs are successfully identified in both bridge cases. The pedestrian loads are also estimated with the extracted UIL and the predicted weights of pedestrians are observed to be in acceptable ranges.

This paper proposes an optimal three-dimensional coordinate implementation of the vision sensor using two CCD cameras. The PBVS (Position based visual servoing) is implemented using the positional information obtained from images. Stereo vision by PBVS method that has enhanced every frame using calibration parameters is effective in the distance calculation. The IBVS (Image based visual servoing) is also implemented using the difference between reference and obtained images. Stereo vision by IBVS method calculates the distance using rotation angle of motors that correspond eyes and neck without enhanced images. The PBVS method is compared with the IBVS method in terms of advantages, disadvantages, computing time, and performances. Finally, the IBVS method is applied for the dual arm manipulator on the mobile inverted pendulum. The autonomous mobile inverted pendulum is successfully demonstrated using the center of the manipulator's mass.
