A Study on the Correlation between Bat Swing Speed and Balance Ability in Elementary School Baseball Players

  • In This paper, we propose a determine the correlation between bat swing speed and balance ability in elementary school baseball players. This study subjects were 40 subjects. Bat swing speed was measured using a zepp2baseball, and balance ability was measured using a biorescue. For the measurement of balance ability, eyes open surface·eyes open length·eyes open average speed·eyes close surface·eyes close length·eyes close average speed were measured. pearson's correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between bat swing speed and balance ability. There was a significant negative correlation between bat swing speed and eyes close surface (r=-0.366, p<0.05). There was a significant negative correlation between bat swing speed and eyes close length(r=-0.348, p<0.05). There was a significant negative correlation between bat swing speed and eyes close average speed(r=-0.455, p<0.01). Among them, eyes close average speed showed the highest correlation (p<0.01). These findings suggest that improvement of the balance ability has a positive effect on bat swing speed.

The Effects of Programming Education using App inventor on Problem-solving Ability and Self-efficacy, Perception

  • The ability to use information technology has become increasingly important as technological advances continue to sweep through the computing world, and education for improving computational thinking has become globally instituted. In South Korea, informatics subjects have been modified in the 2015 curriculum and are now compulsory in primary and secondary education. However, despite substantial financial investment and numerous studies promoting informatics education, there continues to be a serious lack of pre-service teachers capable of teaching computational thinking. This study investigated pre-service teacher programming education using App Inventor, their perceptions of App Inventor, and how use of the program affected teacher problem-solving abilities and self-efficacy. In the pre-test, the control group and experimental group showed no statistically significant difference; however, the post-test revealed that the two groups showed statistically significant differences in problem-solving skills and self-efficacy. The participants initially showed interest in using App Inventor; however, after practice-teaching and project-based learning, the participants demonstrated a growing negativity toward the program when they made errors and the functional limits of App Inventor became apparent. Although most participants stated that they would not use App Inventor in their classes, the positive statistically significant differences in problem-solving skills and self-efficacy indicate that this study could be utilized as a basis for building a teaching-learning program using App Inventor and creating an educational plan for teaching computational thinking.

  • We are taking advantage of the information and communications technology in every field of life at the moment. At this point of view, it is necessary to verify how the information technology performing properly in the education field. This paper is to analyze it and point out the problems in the significant programing study and map out the utilizing of Robot programing education based on the computer principle education. Therefore it is contributed to raise ingenuity, ability to think, problem-solving ability for the students as replacing old programing education with Robot programing education.

An Educational Program against Digital Drama using Artificial Intelligence

  • Cyberbullying and digital drama are on the rise among students. Therefore, this paper proposes an educational program that can enhance students' ability to use artificial intelligence(AI) technology and develop the power to respond to digital drama. In order to understand the effect of the proposed education program, this education was applied on a trial basis to 205 middle school students residing in South Korea. Moreover, the change of coping ability to the digital drama was observed before and after education. After applying for the educational program, the students' empathy(t=-5.506, p<0.001), peer conflict resolution(t=-3.842, p<0.01), and peer mediation(t=-4.213, p<0.001) improved, and did not significantly affect their anger control ability(t=-0.272, p>0.05). The educational program proposed in this paper uses AI to make it more attractive for students familiar with digital devices to participate in education and increase their educational concentration. This paper has its limitations as it is a study only for middle school students in South Korea. However, it is significant that the educational program proposed in this paper prevented the recently increased digital drama and led to a crucial change in coping ability.

  • Learning computational thinking is very important in programming education. Computational thinking refers to the problem solving ability based on the theories of computer science, indicating the importance of algorithm thinking. That is the reason for focusing on promoting creativity and improving the problem solving ability of the students in programming education. This paper commented the elements to consider for teachers when teaching computational thinking to elementary school students with online coding education website 'code.org' that helps beginners have easy programming experiences based on the characteristics of the website, and proposed the appropriate teaching methods.

  • In the 21st century, we need to educate students who can perform their learning activity by themselves through free investigation and gathering information instead of providing a piece of knowledge to them directly. It is suggested that we should use Internet to bring up students who have the ability to study self-directedly. In this study, we designed a virtual English conversation class and implemented it using Web and DBMS to improve the students' self-directed learning ability who study English conversation in high school.

Autonomous Maze Solving Robot

  • Autonomous robots are intelligent machines that are capable of performing task in the world themselves with little or no human intervention. One of the main reason autonomous robots gained popularity in human's world is their ability to perform task with high degree of precision, accuracy and also consistency. One of the most studied fields in autonomous robot is the ability of decision making in robots. To tackle the ability of robots to make decision, this paper proposed an Autonomous Maze Solving Robot that is able to solve a maze using the optimum solution. The maze and the design of the robot are in compliance with IEEE Micromouse competition rules and regulation. Micromouse is an autonomous maze solving robot that shall be able to explore a maze on its own from a predefined starting location and find the optimum path to reach the predefined goal in the maze without human's intervention.

  • As future society will be strengthened by interdisciplinary study and education, we have to prepare general education curriculum which provide critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, communication abilities. Those curriculum will help to nurture students who lead our future society. Now we prepare new curriculum to train students to understand the computer science and software needed to create their own, and we could cultivate students having ability to create interdisciplinary study by using programming skill. So we ran a computer programming class during a semester for the freshmen's capacity building on computing-thinking ability using the Python language. We analyzed the effectiveness and showed that student's curiosity and motivation to want to learn computer programming occurred, their various skills for interdisciplinary ability were improved.

  • We survey the effects of robot programming education using web 2.0 on improving problem solving ability. For this, we constructed a robot programming education system using springnote based web 2.0 and taught computer gifted students of D region. Furthermore, we investigated about the problem solving ability when the robot programming education using web 2.0 is executed. In conclusion, the robot programming education using web 2.0 stimulate problem solving ability for learners.

The Impact of Mobile Device Usage Skills on Life Satisfaction among North Korean Defectors: The Mediating Effect of Self-Efficacy

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of North Korean defectors' ability to use mobile devices on life satisfaction and to verify whether self-efficacy mediates this relationship. To this end, among the data on the digital information gap conducted in 2022, responses from 607 people wereanalyzed using a structural equation model using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 24.0, with the ability to use mobile devices as the independent variable, life satisfaction as the dependent variable, and self-efficacy as the parameter. As a result, North Korean defectors' ability to use mobile devices was found to have a positive effect on life satisfaction. In addition, improving the ability to use mobile devices was found to increase self-efficacy. North Korean defectors' ability to use mobile devices was found to have a positive effect on life satisfaction through a positive effect on self-efficacy. As a result of checking the statistical significance of the indirect effect of self-efficacy through bootstrapping, it was found to be significant. Based on these results, practical and policy efforts to improve accessibility, such as education to improve North Korean defectors' ability to use mobile devices, were suggested.
