컴퓨터게임 유형과 유아의 시지각 능력 (Types of Computer Game and Abilities of Children's Visual Perception)

  • This research was conducted to comprehend the effects of computer games on the development children's visual perception. First, the effects of experience of computer games on children's visual perception abilities was analyzed. Second, the effects of different types of computer games on children's visual perception abilities were examined. And third, the interaction effects of sex and computer game types were examined. The subjects of this study were 78 5-year-olds engaging public kindergarten located in Cheung-Ju. To analyse data, percent, mean, standard deviation, and ANCOVA were used. The results showed that children's visual perception abilities were improved significantly with the experience of computer games. And the improvement of children's visual perception varied significantly according to the type of computer game. No interaction effects were found between a child's sex and the types of computer games.

유아의 문식성과 컴퓨터로 쓰기와의 관계에 대한 연구 (The Relationship between Children's Literacy and Writing with a Computer)

  • This study explored the linkage between literacy and writing with a computer in three-to five-year-old children. The 57 subjects were closely observed as they produced written language forms using the word processing program, Araeha Hangul. Stages of writing with a computer were developed to assess the children's computer-writing. While writing with a computer, children invented letters, words, and sentences in an experimental and playful way. Children's writing with computer improved with age. There was a positive correlation between writing with a computer and writing with a pencil. In this way, computer writing was found to be part of written language development.

고학년 초등학생의 컴퓨터 게임 중독 실태 및 영향요인 (Computer Game Addiction and it's Predictors of Korean Elementary School Children)

  • Purpose: The measure the degree of computer game addiction; to examine the relationship between computer game addiction and contributing factors; and to discover the predictors of computer game addiction of elementary school children of Korea. Method: Data were assembled from questionnaires distributed among 455 children from four elementary schools in Gyung-buk Province. Result: The level of computer game addiction of subjects was rather low, and correlated significantly with gender, academic performance, family economic status, playmates for leisure time, place of playing computer game, length of the habit of playing game, average playing time of game per day, frequency of PC-room(Internet Cafe for game) visits per week, game partners and reasons for playing game. Multiple regression analysis showed that 45% of the computer game addiction was significantly related to gender(21%), impulsiveness(10%), average playing time of game per day(9%), depression(2%) and other variables(3%) such as playmates for leisure time, academic performance and frequency of PC-room visits per week. Conclusion: We suggest these results be used to develop a computer game addiction prevention program.

Brain Computer Interfacing: A Multi-Modal Perspective

  • Multi-modal techniques have received increasing interest in the neuroscientific and brain computer interface (BCI) communities in recent times. Two aspects of multi-modal imaging for BCI will be reviewed. First, the use of recordings of multiple subjects to help find subject-independent BCI classifiers is considered. Then, multi-modal neuroimaging methods involving combined electroencephalogram and near-infrared spectroscopy measurements are discussed, which can help achieve enhanced and robust BCI performance.

초등학생의 컴퓨터 사용행태에 따른 VDT증후군 (VDT Syndrome according to the Types of Computer Use Among Elementary Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for prevention of VDT syndrome by confirming VDT syndrome according to the type of computer use. The subjects recruited for the research were 518 students who were in the 4, 5, 6 grades from 5 schools in Seoul. The data were collected during the period from October 8 through October 18, 2004. The results were as follows; 1. The mean value of the VDT syndrome was 1.55 (SD=.52) for the 5th graders. 2. The degrees of VDT syndrome according to the characteristics of the subjects shows higher scores for the 5th and 6th graders, boys, students with more than 4 online friends, students with a low degree of school life satisfaction, and for students with parents who had a negative attitude for their children. 3. The degree of VDT syndrome according to the type of computer use showed higher scores when the students used computers for game more than for study, more than 11 hours in a week, more than 2 hours at one time, not having any rest, in dark places, with the monitor less than 40 an distance from the eyes, sitting with their legs crossed and when the keyboard was in a higher position than their elbows. The internet absorbed group showed higher scores than the unabsorbed group. 4. There was positive correlation between the hours of computer use and VDT syndrome. Also, internet addiction and VDT syndrome had positive correlation. Therefore, each home and society needs to pay consistent attention to correct computer use by their students. Especially, schools will have to educate about computer utilization and VDT syndrome.

  • 교육의 성과는 합리적인 교과 운영의 방법에 의해서 달성된다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 짧은 기간 내에 학생들의 전문성을 갖추어야 하는 전문대학의 교육은 더욱 효과적인 교육방법이 요구되어지며, 전공과정에서 채택하고 있는 각 교과목의 운영은 학생들의 전문성을 책임질 수 있도록 계획되어져야 하는 것이다. 전공에서의 각 교과목은 학생들의 전문성을 형성하기 위한 교육목표에 밀접한 인과요인으로 작용하기 때문에 각 교과목에서의 교육성과달성은 교육자의 중대한 연구부분으로 인식되게 된다. 이러한 문제 인식을 바탕으로 진행한 본 연구는 산업디자인 학과에서 채택하고 있는 두 개의 교과목(공간디자인/컴퓨터응용디자인)을 연계하여 교육함으로써 두 교과목의 상호관계성에 대한 학생들의 이해의 폭을 넓히고 학습의 집중도를 유발함으로써 각 교과목의 교육 목표를 동시에 달성하는 방법론적인 접근을 하였다. 본 교과 운영의 방법을 통해서 학생들은 두 교과목이 목표로 하는 디자인 지식과 표현기술의 습득은 물론 디자인 전개 과정을 기획하고 전개하는데 자신감을 갖게 됨으로써 교과목 연계를 통한 교육적 효과를 확인하였다.

뇌컴퓨터접속(BCI) 무경험자에 대한 EEG-BCI 알고리즘 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation of EEG-BCI Interface Algorithm in BCI(Brain Computer Interface)-Naive Subjects)

  • The Performance research about EEG-BCI algorithm in BCI-naive subjects is very important for evaluating the applicability to the public. We analyzed the result of the performance evaluation experiment about the EEG-BCI algorithm in BCI-naive subjects on three different aspects. The EEG-BCI algorithm used in this paper is composed of the common spatial pattern(CSP) and the least square linear classifier. CSP is used for obtaining the characteristic of event related desynchronization, and the least square linear classifier classifies the motor imagery EEG data of the left hand or right hand. The performance evaluation experiments about EEG-BCI algorithm is conducted for 40 men and women whose age are 23.87${\pm}$2.47. The performance evaluation about EEG-BCI algorithm in BCI-naive subjects is analyzed in terms of the accuracy, the relation between the information transfer rate and the accuracy, and the performance changes when the different types of cue were used in the training session and testing session. On the result of experiment, BCI-naive group has about 20% subjects whose accuracy exceed 0.7. And this results of the accuracy were not effected significantly by the types of cue. The Information transfer rate is in the inverse proportion to the accuracy. And the accuracy shows the severe deterioration when the motor imagery is less then 2 seconds.

정상인의 교합 만곡 분석에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE ANALYSIS OF OCCLUSAL CURVE OF THE NORMAL SUBJECTS)

  • This study was done to analyze the occlusal curve as one of the factors to be considered for maintenance of occlusal stability in the orthodontic and prosthodontic treatments. Sixty gnathological casts we.e obtained from 43 subjects with normal occlusion and 17 subjects with some of temporomandibular disorders. The occlusal surfaces of gnathologic casts were duplicated by using a Color kit SK-700 and tile reference points of X, Y coordinates were digitized by using the Summagraphic digitizer and 18AT computer system. The Z coordinates of cusp height were measured by 0.01mm measurable caliper. The mathematical computer program of least square method was used to analyze the occlusal curve arranged by three dimensional coordinates of X, Y, Z. The following results were obtained : 1. The occlusal curve of buccal and lingual cusp tips was fitted to the ellipse, and the occlusal curve of anterior teeth was fitted to a part of the circle in the analysis of conic sections. 2. The radius of Spee's curve showed individual differences, but was average 98.7mm in male subjects and 93.7mm in female subjects. 3. The radius fo Spee's curve according to the half of canine width showed the least coefficient of variation. 4. The radius of Spee's curve was not significantly relative to the lateral occlusal contacts on laterotrusion and the absence or presence of temporomandibular disorders. 5. The radius of Wilson's curve showed individual difference and the size of radius was followed by the order of 1st premolar, 2nd premolar, 2nd molar and 1st molar.

성별에 따른 제주도 성인의 담낭용종 유병률 및 위험인자 (Prevalence and risk factors of gallbladder polyps among adults on Jeju Island according to genders)

  • Gallbladder polyps (GBPs) may be a cause of gallbladder cancer. The known risk factors for GBPs are male gender, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and dyslipidemia. Especially, male gender has been known that it strongly affects on the prevalence of GBPs. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate risk factors affecting the prevalence of GBPs among adults on Jeju Island according to genders. We examined 5,574 subjects who visited a single health-screening center in Jeju between January 2015 and December 2019. Univariate and multiple logistic regression analysis were performed to identify risk factors affecting the prevalence of GBPs. The prevalence of GBPs were 8.9% in male subjects and 8.1% in female subjects, respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that ≥60 year age (odds ratio [OR] 0.659; P=0.027) and aspartate aminotransferase >32 IU/L (OR 0.658; P=0.009) in male subjects and high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ≥60 mg/dL (OR 0.514; P=0.013) in female subjects were independent factors affecting the prevalence of GBPs. The prevalence of GBPs in men (8.9%) is comparable to that in women (8.1%) on Jeju Island. Age <60 years and the high level of aspartate aminotransferase in men and the greater level of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol in women were independent risk factors of GBPs on Jeju Island.

치과기공사의 직무기반 국가 실기시험 실행을 위한 조사 연구 (Survey research to implement a job-based national practical exam for dental technicians)

  • Purpose: This study proposes measures needed to implement a job-based national practical exam for dental technicians. Methods: For this study, a survey was conducted targeting 244 currently employed individuals. The current national practical test for dental technicians was divided into directions for the job-based practical test, subjects that need improvement among the current practical test subjects, items that need to be reflected in the practical test evaluation for each subject, and subjects that need to be added to the practical test. It comprised ten questions (Cronbach's α=0.801). Results: The following results were obtained. Satisfaction with the current practical test was lower than average. Future improvement should focus on job-based evaluation. The dental ceramic lab technology subject needs to be reorganized urgently, and the tasks that require evaluation for each subject are different. Moreover, if evaluation subjects are added in the future, the introduction of assessment for dental CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) subjects was found to be the most urgent. Conclusion: In this study, the most necessary tasks of the current national practical examination for dental technicians were evaluated and the content needed for future reorganization was investigated. Future tests should be expanded to evaluate critical job areas. Furthermore, it is necessary to open new courses in fields such as CAD/CAM, as they are in high demand in the workplace.
