서브셀 모델링을 통한 니들 펀치 C/SiC 복합재료의 멀티스케일 유한요소해석 (Multiscale Finite Element Analysis of Needle-Punched C/SiC Composites through Subcell Modeling)

  • 본 논문에서는 Needle-punched C/SiC 복합재료 해석을 위한 효율적인 멀티스케일 해석기법을 소개한다. 기존 Needle-punching으로 인해 복잡한 미소구조를 갖는 NP 복합재료는 기존의 제안된 복합재료 멀티스케일 기법으로 물성을 계산하는 것은 한계가 있어 왔다. 이를 극복하기 위해 micro-CT 이미지 촬영을 통해 NP 복합재료의 미소구조를 면밀히 파악할 수 있었고, 이미지 프로세싱을 바탕으로 실제구조와 직접적으로 대응할 수 있는 3D high fidelity 모델을 구축하였다. 또한 유한요소해석에 맞춰 요소크기를 조절할 수 있는 sub-region processing 소개를 바탕으로 효율적인 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. NP 복합재료의 미소구조 거동뿐만 아니라, macro-scale 구조해석의 적용을 위해 subcell 모델링을 제안하였다. Needle-punching에 의한 Z축 NP 섬유의 규칙적인 간격을 이용하여 모델링을 수행할 수 있었다. 제안한 두 종류의 모델은 균질화 기법을 이용하여 등가거동 및 등가물성을 파악하였으며, 추가적인 실험 결과와의 비교를 통해 검증을 수행하였다.

2단 분류층 가스화기에서 합성가스 생성을 위한 석탄 슬러리 가스화에 대한 수치 해석적 연구 (Numerical simulation of gasification of coal-water slurry for production of synthesis gas in a two stage entrained gasifier)

  • Oxy-gasification or oxygen-blown gasification, enables a clean and efficient use of coal and opens a promising way to CO2 capture. The coal gasification process of a slurry feed type, entrained-flow coal gasifier was numerically predicted in this paper. The purposes of this study are to develop an evaluation technique for design and performance optimization of coal gasifiers using a numerical simulation technique, and to confirm the validity of the model. By dividing the complicated coal gasification process into several simplified stages such as slurry evaporation, coal devolatilization, mixture fraction model and two-phase reactions coupled with turbulent flow and two-phase heat transfer, a comprehensive numerical model was constructed to simulate the coal gasification process. The influence of turbulence on the gas properties was taken into account by the PDF (Probability Density Function) model. A numerical simulation with the coal gasification model is performed on the Conoco-Philips type gasifier for IGCC plant. Gas temperature distribution and product gas composition are also presented. Numerical computations were performed to assess the effect of variation in oxygen to coal ratio and steam to coal ratio on reactive flow field. The concentration of major products, CO and H2 were calculated with varying oxygen to coal ratio (0.2-1.5) and steam to coal ratio(0.3-0.7). To verify the validity of predictions, predicted values of CO and H2 concentrations at the exit of the gasifier were compared with previous work of the same geometry and operating points. Predictions showed that the CO and H2 concentration increased gradually to its maximum value with increasing oxygen-coal and hydrogen-coal ratio and decreased. When the oxygen-coal ratio was between 0.8 and 1.2, and the steam-coal ratio was between 0.4 and 0.5, high values of CO and H2 were obtained. This study also deals with the comparison of CFD (Computational Flow Dynamics) and STATNJAN results which consider the objective gasifier as chemical equilibrium to know the effect of flow on objective gasifier compared to equilibrium. This study makes objective gasifier divided into a few ranges to study the evolution of the gasification locally. By this method, we can find that there are characteristics in the each scope divided.

스트리머 방식 탐사 자료의 동시 송신원 전파형 역산을 위한 Global correlation 기반 목적함수 최적화 연구 (A Study on Optimization of the Global-Correlation-Based Objective Function for the Simultaneous-Source Full Waveform Inversion with Streamer-Type Data)

  • 동시 송신원 전파형 역산 기법은 계산량을 획기적으로 줄여 전파형 역산의 적용성을 높여준다. 그러나 다수의 송신원 모음 자료를 동시에 모델링하여 사용하기 때문에 관측 자료의 수진기 위치가 송신원에 따라 다른 경우, 나머지(residual) 파동장에 불필요한 값을 생성하게 되고 이는 파형역산의 수렴성을 저해하게 된다. 특히, 제한된 벌림 거리(offset)를 갖는 스트리머 방식의 탐사자료는 동시 송신원 기법을 적용하기에 가장 어려운 자료 형태이다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위해 최근에 global correlation에 기반한 목적함수가 제안되었고, 시간영역 전파형 역산에 성공적으로 적용되었다. 그러나 이 기법은 변형된 목적함수를 사용하기 때문에 나머지 파동장이 왜곡되고 경우에 따라 역산 결과에 부정적인 영향을 주기도 한다. 또한, 여러 가지 장점을 갖고 있는 주파수 영역 파형역산에 적용된 사례는 아직 보고된 적이 없다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 나머지 파동장의 왜곡을 최소화하기 위해 global correlation 계산 시 사용하는 자료에 진폭감쇠 기법을 적용한다. 진폭감쇠를 적용한 자료는 global correlation의 특성을 최적화하여 나머지 파동장의 왜곡을 줄이고 파형역산 결과를 향상시킨다. 시간 영역에서 구한 나머지 파동장을 주파수 영역에서 역전파시킴으로써 global correlation기법을 주파수 영역에서 구현한다. 스트리머 방식의 합성 탐사자료를 이용한 예제를 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 기법이 기존의 global correlation 목적함수에 기반한 동시 송신원 전파형 역산보다 향상된 결과를 얻을 수 있음을 보여준다.

변위제한조건식과 안정화된 Penalty방법에 의한 차량 주행에 따른 구조물의 동적상호작용 해석기법 (Simulation of Vehicle-Structure Dynamic Interaction by Displacement Constraint Equations and Stabilized Penalty Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 2개의 질량을 갖는 1/4 차량모델을 이용하여 차량-궤도-교량간의 동적상호작용 현상을 표현하기 위해 비선형 헤르츠 접촉스프링(Nonlinear Hertzian Contact Spring)과 비선형 접촉감쇠장치(Nonlinear Contact Damper)를 도입하였다. 또한, 차량에 작용하는 하중은 차량의 중량외에 임의시간단계의 차륜재하위치인 레일답면(즉, 주행로상의 접촉면)에서의 변위가 제한조건식(Constraint Equation)으로 가해졌다. 이 변위제한조건식은 Penalty방법(Penalty Method)에 의해 구현되었으며, 해의 안정화(Stabilization)를 위한 기법과 제한조건오차보정반력(Reaction from Constraint Violation)을 도입하였다. 또한, 차량의 피칭운동을 표현하고, 다양한 차량/열차를 모형화하기 위해서 1/4 차량모델의 차체 및 대차프레임 간을 강체연결 및 핀이 있는 강체연결조건으로 모형화하였다. 시간적분방법으로는 Newmark계열의 시간적분법이 사용되었으며, 해의 정확성 확보를 위해 국지적 오차평가에 근거한 적응적시간간격기법(Adaptive Time-Stepping Scheme)을 도입하였다. 이러한 적응적시간간격기법을 도입하여 동적해석에서 시간간격의 크기를 자동적으로 결정함으로써 동적해석에서의 해의 정확성을 확보하고 시간적분에 소요되는 계산비용을 감소시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • The Highway Capacity Manual specifies procedures for evaluating intersection performance in terms of delay per vehicle. What is lacking in the current methodology is a comparable quantitative procedure for ass~ssing the safety-based level of service provided to motorists. The objective of the research described herein was to develop a computational procedure for evaluating the safety-based level of service of signalized intersections based on the relative hazard of alternative intersection designs and signal timing plans. Conflict opportunity models were developed for those crossing, diverging, and stopping maneuvers which are associated with left-turn and rear-end accidents. Safety¬based level-of-service criteria were then developed based on the distribution of conflict opportunities computed from the developed models. A case study evaluation of the level of service analysis methodology revealed that the developed safety-based criteria were not as sensitive to changes in prevailing traffic, roadway, and signal timing conditions as the traditional delay-based measure. However, the methodology did permit a quantitative assessment of the trade-off between delay reduction and safety improvement. The Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) specifies procedures for evaluating intersection performance in terms of a wide variety of prevailing conditions such as traffic composition, intersection geometry, traffic volumes, and signal timing (1). At the present time, however, performance is only measured in terms of delay per vehicle. This is a parameter which is widely accepted as a meaningful and useful indicator of the efficiency with which an intersection is serving traffic needs. What is lacking in the current methodology is a comparable quantitative procedure for assessing the safety-based level of service provided to motorists. For example, it is well¬known that the change from permissive to protected left-turn phasing can reduce left-turn accident frequency. However, the HCM only permits a quantitative assessment of the impact of this alternative phasing arrangement on vehicle delay. It is left to the engineer or planner to subjectively judge the level of safety benefits, and to evaluate the trade-off between the efficiency and safety consequences of the alternative phasing plans. Numerous examples of other geometric design and signal timing improvements could also be given. At present, the principal methods available to the practitioner for evaluating the relative safety at signalized intersections are: a) the application of engineering judgement, b) accident analyses, and c) traffic conflicts analysis. Reliance on engineering judgement has obvious limitations, especially when placed in the context of the elaborate HCM procedures for calculating delay. Accident analyses generally require some type of before-after comparison, either for the case study intersection or for a large set of similar intersections. In e.ither situation, there are problems associated with compensating for regression-to-the-mean phenomena (2), as well as obtaining an adequate sample size. Research has also pointed to potential bias caused by the way in which exposure to accidents is measured (3, 4). Because of the problems associated with traditional accident analyses, some have promoted the use of tqe traffic conflicts technique (5). However, this procedure also has shortcomings in that it.requires extensive field data collection and trained observers to identify the different types of conflicts occurring in the field. The objective of the research described herein was to develop a computational procedure for evaluating the safety-based level of service of signalized intersections that would be compatible and consistent with that presently found in the HCM for evaluating efficiency-based level of service as measured by delay per vehicle (6). The intent was not to develop a new set of accident prediction models, but to design a methodology to quantitatively predict the relative hazard of alternative intersection designs and signal timing plans.
