This paper presents the ECG data compression using wavelet transform(WT) and adaptive fractal interpolation(AFI). The WT has the subband coding scheme. The fractal compression method represents any range of ECG signal by fractal interpolation parameters. Specially, the AFI used the adaptive range sizes and got good performance for ECG data compression. In this algorithm, the AFI is applied into the low frequency part of WT. The MIT/BIH arrhythmia data was used for evaluation. The compression rate using WT and AFI algorithm is better than the compression rate using AFI. The WT and AFI algorithm yields compression ratio as high as 21.0 without any entroy coding.
This study was carried out to estimate the property of dimensional stability of heat compression of italian poplar wood with low density. Firstly, two levels of pressure conditions were applied using the closed and open-press system. The thermal treatment temperatures were 180℃ and 200℃, respectively. Water absorption tests were conducted in water bath at 25℃ and 100℃ for 35 hours and 1 hour, respectively. The compression rates of wood were 47 percent, 60 percent, and 73 percent, respectively. From these tests, it was found that the dimensional stability of the closed-press system was superior to that of the open-press system. Furthermore, the dimensional stability of compressed wood in the closed-press system was better at 200℃ than 180℃. In compression rate, dimensional stability of 73 percent compression rate was the best result. Considering these results, the best conditions for the dimensional stability of compressed wood were those of the closed-compressing system at high temperatures above 200℃ and larger compression rate. Therefore, it was concluded that the dimensional stability of wood is improved at higher temperature and larger deformation.

Objective Our aim was to compare the compression quality, exercise intensity, and energy expenditure in 5-minute single-rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using 15:1 or 30:2 compression-to-ventilation (C:V) ratios or chest compression only (CCO). Methods This was a randomized, crossover manikin study. Medical students were randomized to perform either type of CPR and do the others with intervals of at least 1 day. We measured compression quality, ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) score, heart rate, maximal oxygen uptake, and energy expenditure during CPR. Results Forty-seven students were recruited. Mean compression rates did not differ between the 3 groups. However, the mean percentage of adequate compressions in the CCO group was significantly lower than that of the 15:1 or 30:2 group ($31.2{\pm}30.3%$ vs. $55.1{\pm}37.5%$ vs. $54.0{\pm}36.9%$, respectively; P<0.001) and the difference occurred within the first minute. The RPE score in each minute and heart rate change in the CCO group was significantly higher than those of the C:V ratio groups. There was no significant difference in maximal oxygen uptake between the 3 groups. Energy expenditure in the CCO group was relatively lower than that of the 2 C:V ratio groups. Conclusion CPR using a 15:1 C:V ratio may provide a compression quality and exercise intensity comparable to those obtained using a 30:2 C:V ratio. An earlier decrease in compression quality and increase in RPE and heart rate could be produced by CCO CPR compared with 15:1 or 30:2 C:V ratios with relatively lower oxygen uptake and energy expenditure.
We conducted this study to verify effect of applying musical rhythm during the cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) education. From June to October, 2013, we recruited participants of CPR education among mem's high school students. We divided total 57 participants to 2 groups. For experimental group we use musical rhythm during cardiac compression practice to assist adequate cardiac compression rate and for control group do not apply musical rhythm. The group with musical rhythm show more adequate compression rate(16.4sec) than non-rhythmic group(14.4sec). 90% of rhythmic group keep adequate compression rate, but only 44% of non-rhythmic group keep adequate rate. In conclusion, applying musical rhythm to CPR education is more effective to keep correct cardiac compression rate.

Because of computer developing, the digital image making the use of many a field of application with - web-above, electronic publishing. printing, dynamic image management and photo CD production etc., however many problems of save and management. The management image use of compression moth which don't have a affect on image, reduce file size. A study used sequential DCT0based mode and progressive DCT-based mode of JPEG(Joing Photographic Experts Group) compression method and Wavelet compression method. Therefore, the analog image and digital image was changed and applied by several stages according to compression rate. It made inquiries of the optimum compression rate that be compared quality transformation between original image and compressed image. As compression image was printing simply, the quality was studied by subjective valuation method, that was studied propriety and usefulness.

This paper analyzed the JPEG compression performance of MTSAT-1R(Multi-functional Transport Satellite - 1 Replacement), which is offering the LRIT/HRIT(Low Rate Information Transmissio / High Rate Information Transmission) service now, in order to design the system regarding LRIT/HRIT of COMS(Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite). To do so, we analysed Lossy and Lossless JPEG compression performance regarding the MTSAT-1R LRIT/HRIT data for 10 days, and made comparison to the image characteristics, and understood the JPEG compression characteristics regarding JPEG compression of geostationary meteorological satellite. This result of compression performance analysis is expected to be a reference not only to the system design and realization of COMS LRIT/HRIT but also to those who develop other meteorological satellite receiving systems.

Wet compression means the injection of water droplets into the compressor of gas turbines. This method decreases the compression work and increases the turbine output by decreasing the compressor exit temperature through the evaporation of water droplets inside the compressor. This paper provides thermodynamic and aerodynamic analysis on wet compression in a centrifugal compressor for a microturbine. The meanline performance analysis of centrifugal compressor is coupled with the thermodynamic equation of wet compression to get the meanline performance of wet compression. The most influencing parameter in the analysis is the evaporative rate of water droplets. It is found that the impeller exit flow temperature and compression work decreases as the evaporative rate increases. And the exit flow angle decreases as the evaporative rate increases.
The compression strength of corrugated fiberboard container for packaging the agricultural products rapidly decreases because of various environmental conditions during distribution of unitized products. Among various environmental conditions, the main factors affecting the compression strength of corrugated fiberboard are absorption of moisture, long-term accumulative load, and fatigue caused by shock and vibration. An estimated rate of damage for fruit during distribution is about from 30 to 40 percent owing to the shock and vibration. This study was carried out to characterize the durability of corrugated fiberboard container for packaging the fruit and vegetables under simulated transportation environment. The vibration test system was constructed to simulate the land transportation using truck. After the package with corrugated fiberboard container was vibrated by vibration test system at various experimental conditions, the compression test for the package was performed. The compression strength of corrugated fiberboard container decreased with loading weight and vibrating time. The multiple nonlinear regression equation for predicting the decreasing rate of compression strength of corrugated fiberboard containers were developed using four independent variables such as input acceleration level, input frequency, loading weight and vibrating time. The influence of loading weight on the decreasing rate of corrugated fiberboard container was larger than other variables.
