  • The development of the equal channel angular pressing(ECAP) process in metals has recently provided a feasible solution to produce ultra-fine or nano-grained bulk materials with tailored material properties. However, ECAP process is difficult to scale up commercially due to requirements of an excessive load. In this paper, a new Hybrid-ECAP process with torsional die is considered to obtain materials of ultra-fine grain structure under low forming load. An upper bound analysis and numerical simulation (DEFORM 3D, a commercial FEM code) are carried out on the torsional die. By the upper bound analysis, analytical expression for the compression force and rotation speed are obtained. By the FEM analysis, the distribution of strain, stress and deformation are obtained. These results show that the Hybrid-ECAP is a useful process because this process can obtain the homogeneous deformations with relatively low forming load. Additionally, due to decreased forming load, die life can be improve.

  • The development of a next-generation hydrogen compressor, a key component in the expansion of hydrogen charging infrastructure, is in progress. In order to improve compression efficiency and durability, it is important to optimize the precision forming and shearing processes of the diaphragm, which is the bellows unit cell, as well as the optimization of diaphragm shape itself. In this study, we aim to show that die and process design technology that can synchronize the inner and outer shearing points of the diaphragm for the precision forming of product can be constructed based on a numerical simulation. First, the damage model that can predict the fracture points will be determined using the shear load and shear zone measurements obtained by performing a blanking test of AISI-633 stainless steel. Next, we will explain the overall procedure based on numerical analysis model how to determine the shearing points according to the deformation pattern of urethane die for various shearing die design.

  • Injection-stretch blowing system for preform has been developed in this study. The preforms for injection blow molding and injection stretch blow molding are being manufactured by injection molding. However it contains gate mark that affects the bottom crack in the PET bottle. The compression molded preform does not contain gate mark, thus the appearance quality of bottle has been increased and the residual stress near gate(bottom of the bottle) has been reduced. The thickness distributions, haze, and transmittance are well accepted for the preform. Also, flow characteristics of the resin between a core and cavity could be analyzed through computer simulation.

  • The growing demand for more fuel-efficient vehicles to reduce energy consumption and air pollution is a challenge for the automotive industry. The characteristic properties of aluminum, high strengrth stiffness to weight ratio, good formability, good corrosion resistence, and recycling potential make it the ideal candidate to replace heavier materials in the car to respond to the weight resuction demand within the automotive industry. In this paper, A series of compression test was carried out to find the flow stress of A6082 at 300, 400 and $500^{\circ}C$, then we tried to estimate weldability, extrusion load and effective stress of die in the aluminum extrusion process through the 3D FE simulation at non-steady state for aluminum automotive parts.

  • Since polymer materials at elevated temperatures are usually rate-sensitive, the analysis of RTP process requires considering the effect of the rate-dependent. The material behavior that exhibits rate-sensitivity is called visco-plastic. A two-dimensional visco-plastic finite element formulation which constitutive equation is based on the formulation proposed by Perzyna is presented. This Paper is purposed to calcuate pressure distribution on PMMA in compression process and to predict the relationship with defects after demolding process. This paper analyzes, both analytically and numerically, the pressure distributions on the surface of PMMA during open-die RTP process. In this research, PMMA is used to be simulated at $110^{\circ}C$ near the transition temperature.

  • For the production of cold forged parts with near-net-shape attributes, the quality of the tool system is responsible for an essential portion of costs fer the finished components. Therefore, a tool lift is one of the important issues on cold forging industry. There are many complicated variables related with tool life, such as material, heat-treatment, coating, lubricant, process design. In this study, heat-treatment of tool material and lubricant are investigated to improve the tool life. Deep cryogenic treatment of tool steel is very efficient to improve the wear resistance due to the fine carbide. And, friction factor of lubricants for cold forging are measured by the ring compression test. Zinc-Phosphate and $MoS_2$ lubricant is effective to sustain the friction factor under 0.1.

  • To examine the deformation characteristics of round aluminum pipe under biaxial compression, a horizontal biaxial compression die was fabricated. The change of material properties, punch load and deformation behavior were monitored in experiments using various compressive deformation rates in the range of 1mm/min.~400mm/min. The tensile and compressive strains were estimated from Vickers microhardness results. The punch load and deformation characteristic of the round aluminum pipes were found to change greatly at a deformation rate of about 200mm/min. The punch load decreased with increasing compressive deformation rate. Results of numerical simulation using Deform-2D were in good agreement with experimental results, and the measured hardness variation with the strain variation was predicted well by the simulation.

  • The deformation characteristics and microstructure changes in a round copper pipe under biaxial compression was studied using a horizontal compression die. The change of material properties, punch load and deformation behavior were monitored using various compressive deformation rates in the range of 0.5mm/min.~450mm/min. The strains, either tensile or compressive, were estimated from Vickers microhardness test results. The punch load and deformation characteristics of the round copper pipes were found to change greatly at a deformation rate of about 200mm/min. The punch load decreased with increasing compressive deformation rate. The results of numerical simulations agreed well with what was expected from the final microstructure and the hardness profile estimated from the final deformation strains.

  • The hydroforming technology has gained in importance over the last few years, because of its potential for substantial weight avings costs reduction and quality improvement such as collision property, shape fixability and rigidity of white body. However, in comparison with the traditional sheet forming process, the hydroforming is much younger and the main development efforts were made in the last 15 years. The new technology, high pressure tublar hydroforming in particular, involves many process parameters to be optimized. This paper covers a brief overview of the hydroforming simulator as well as design of die and tools. The effects of typical parameters such as internal pressure and axial compression stroke are presented. Moreover, the conditions of forming failure occurrences such as fracture and wrinkle are examinated.

  • This study deals about the development of fusible core with low melting temperature by addition of ceramic particles. A new concept of salt core was introduced to produce an integrated casting part having a complicated inner shape or requiring under-cut in high pressure die casting or squeeze casting process. The mechanical properties of fusible core were improved due to the addition of ceramic particles which helped to produce fine microstructure. The new technology for the preparation of new fusible core materials which possess high compression strength was established. Addition of ceramics particles increased the mechanical properties of fusible core materials. There was an increasing relationship between percentage of ceramic particles and mechanical strength was existed up to 60%.
