원자로 내부구조물 종합진동평가 고유 해석방법론 개발 (Development of The New Analysis Methodology for Comprehensive Vibration Assessment Program for Reactor Internals)

  • This paper describes a newly-developed analysis methodology in comprehensive vibration assessment program (CVAP) of reactor internals to develop a valid-prototype for the design of nuclear power plants. The new analysis methodology developed in this study will be confirmed through a scale model testing (SMT). Based on the measurements obtained from dynamic pressure transducers in the SMT, a new non-dimensional equation is developed to apply the forcing functions at reactor internals for the prototype. In addition to the new non-dimensional equation, a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) is used to develop the application of the hydraulic loads at reactor internals for the prototype.

Comprehensive evaluation method for user interface design in nuclear power plant based on mental workload

  • Mental workload (MWL) is a major consideration for the user interface design in nuclear power plants (NPPs). However, each MWL evaluation method has its advantages and limitations, thus the evaluation and control methods based on multi-index methods are needed. In this study, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) theory was adopted for assessment of interface designs in NPP based on operators' MWL. An evaluation index system and membership functions were established, and the weights were given using the combination of the variation coefficient and the entropy method. The results showed that multi-index methods such as performance measures (speed of task and error rate), subjective rating (NASA-TLX) and physiological measure (eye response) can be successfully integrated in FCE for user interface design assessment. The FCE method has a correlation coefficient compared with most of the original evaluation indices. Thus, this method might be applied for developing the tool to quickly and accurately assess the different display interfaces when considering the aspect of the operators' MWL.

  • An effective assessment for decommissioning safety of nuclear facilities requires basic knowledge about possible risks, characteristics of potential hazards, and comprehensive understanding of the associated cause-effect relationships within a decommissioning for nuclear facility. This paper proposes an approach to develop the hierarchical structure and hazards of dealing with improving the complexity and uncertainty for decommissioning safety assessment of nuclear facilities and the resolutions are proposed to improve the complexity and uncertainty for decommissioning safety assessment of nuclear facilities. These resolutions can provide a comprehensive view of the risks in the decommissioning activities of a nuclear facility.

  • The new paradigm of dentistry require the detection of caries in their earlier stages. To achieve this, a high technology detection device and systematic and organized caries management system are needed. Caries management by risk assessment (CAMBRA) model is representative caries management system that satisfied new paradigm. Dental caries prevention and treatment according to CAMBRA model is patient-centered, risk-based, evidence-based practice. Therefore, individual caries management such as CAMBRA should be performed through accurate assessment of caries disease indicators and comprehensive assessment of caries risk factors and protective factors. Based on the CAMBRA better effectiveness of comprehensive dental caries management including non-surgical treatment will be accomplished.

A New Traffic Congestion Detection and Quantification Method Based on Comprehensive Fuzzy Assessment in VANET

  • Recently, road traffic congestion is becoming a serious urban phenomenon, leading to massive adverse impacts on the ecology and economy. Therefore, solving this problem has drawn public attention throughout the world. One new promising solution is to take full advantage of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). In this study, we propose a new traffic congestion detection and quantification method based on vehicle clustering and fuzzy assessment in VANET environment. To enhance real-time performance, this method collects traffic information by vehicle clustering. The average speed, road density, and average stop delay are selected as the characteristic parameters for traffic state identification. We use a comprehensive fuzzy assessment based on the three indicators to determine the road congestion condition. Simulation results show that the proposed method can precisely reflect the road condition and is more accurate and stable compared to existing algorithms.

전략환경평가 모형의 개발과 적용에 관한 연구(I): 도시기본계획 평가를 중심으로 (A Study on the Application and Development of the Strategic Environmental Assessment(SEA) Model with Reference to Urban Comprehensive Plan)

  • Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is an assessment process integrated with policy and planning processes considering environmental impacts, not at the level of individual project, but at higher level of policy and plan. Presently, two systems for the SEA are being implemented in Korea. One is "the consultation of environmental investigation into a change in national land utilization", which is to be pre-discussed with the head of the related central administrative organizations, based on the respective individual code. The other is "the consultation of environmental investigation into an administrative plan and project", which is to be pre-discussed with the minister of the environments for the administrative plan. However, these two systems are not integrated procedures with the planning process. In other words, there is a separate post-environmental assessment after planning. Also concrete proposal is not yet prepared for the method and procedure of environmental investigation about details of the planning. Therefore, they do not playa role in taking precautions for environmentally sustainable development. In this study, for the effective environmental investigation at the level of planning, environmental assessment model to be integrated with urban comprehensive plans was developed. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, based on the analysis of systematic problems in environmental investigation of this country, the study compared and analysed the SEA method of foreign countries. derived the potential limitations in its applications to this country. Also, the new method in this study, is integrated into planning process by improving the limitations. Thus, we developed the SEA model for this country, which consists of seven steps ; Phase 1; establishing a work program, Phase 2; defining the scop. of the SEA, Phase 3; analyzing an existing environmental situation, Phase 4; examining the consistency with environmental policy, Phase 5; appraising and synthesizing the plan content, Phase 6; proposing recommendations, Phase 7; monitoring and feedback. Second, the two types of application program of the developed assessment model were proposed. One is to integrate this model into planning process, and the other is for the institute and ministry of environments to implement SEA after planning. An aim of this study was developing an environmental assessment model at the planning level which was not yet established in this country and was to apply the model to urban comprehensive plan for inspection. This research will make the effective operation of environmental investigation system possible at the planning level in this country and contribute to the environmental protection at the global level.

고품질 무기체계 획득을 위한 성숙도평가 방안 소개 (A Study on Readiness Assessment for The Acquisition of High Quality Weapon System)

  • Purpose: Technology readiness assessment(TRA) used as a standard readiness assessment tool in the acquisition program of weapon system has some limitations in the comprehensive understanding of the complex system. Therefore, this research is intended to suggest a holistic maturity assessment method for the acquisition of high quality weapon system. Methods: Technology readiness level(TRL), manufacturing readiness level(MRL), integration readiness level(IRL) and system readiness level(SRL) developed to assess system maturities in the various aspects are compared and analyzed to draw an improvement avenue for the current readiness assessment method. Results: TRL, MRL, IRL and SRL have large differences in their maturity targets during the acquisition life cycle: technological performance, manufacturing capability, interface between components and total system, respectively. They complement one another's shortcomings Conclusion: To achieve a successful acquisition of high quality weapon system, multi-dimensional readiness assessment is required. Therefore, comprehensive readiness assessment using TRL, MRL, IRL and SRL will contribute to the acquisition of high quality weapon system through the accurate maturity information of overall system.

Procedural Improvements to the Comprehensive Impact Assessment of IMO GHG Reduction Measures

  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) may adopt actions after completing impact assessments and reviewing results in accordance with the original strategy and impact assessment procedure (MEPC.1/Circ.885). The assessment of the impact of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures is an important step in determining whether to implement GHG regulations. This study identifies and proposes improvements in the impact assessment procedure for future mid- and long-term measures. Improvements for future measures should start with a review of "the procedure for assessing impacts on states of candidate measures" and "the actual process of the comprehensive impact assessment for short-term measures in 2021." The procedural improvements were largely derived from the order and period of task performance, the clear definition of terms, and the review of task results through lessons learned, analysis, and expert workshops. The impact assessment of future mid- and long-term measures should be procedurally improved to ensure uniformity and consistency, which will provide objective results for Member States and industries to help smooth the adoption of measures.

뇌졸중 환자에 있어서 Mini-Mental State Examination과 Motor Assessment Scale을 통한 인지기능과 기능적 회복의 상관관계 연구 (The Cognitive performance in relation to motor functio recovery in stroke patients)

  • The objective of this study was to identify the effects of the cognitive performance of stroke patients on their motor function recovery after comprehensive rehabilitation management. The subjects of this study were 41 stroke in-patients of the Rehabilitation Hospital, College of Medicine, Yonsei University, hospitalized during the period from September 1, 1997 to May 5, 1998. The cognitive performance was measured using a Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and the motor function recovery using Motor Assessment Scale(MAS). The data were analyzed by the paired t-test, independent t-test, a one way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficiency. The findings were as follows: 1. There was a significant difference found in the motor function recovery level after the comprehensive rehabilitation management. 2. There was no significant difference found in relation to sex, age, cause of stroke, laterality of paralysis and the level of spasticity. However, there was a big difference between pre- and post-treatment regarding the treatment period. 3. In line with the cognitive performance level, there was a significant difference found in the motor function recovery level after the comprehensive rehabilitation management. 4. The correlation between the elements of the cognitive performance and the motor recovery was found to be high in orientation, attention, calculation, and language. Those elements were expected to give larger effects on motor recovery after the comprehensive rehabilitation management. Based on this study, the cognitive performance level was found to play an important role in bringing effects on motor recovery after the comprehensive rehabilitation management of stroke patients. And the evaluation on the motor recovery based on quality would be also expected to be examined, as well as the cognitive performance level test accompanied by Intelligence Quality(IQ) test.
