Development of a Simplified Fuel-Cladding Gap Conductance Model for Nuclear Feedback Calculation in 16$\times$16 FA

  • The accurate determination of the fuel-cladding gap conductance as functions of rod burnup and power level may be a key to the design and safety analysis of a reactor. The incorporation of a sophisticated gap conductance model into nuclear design code for computing thermal hydraulic feedback effect has not been implemented mainly because of computational inefficiency due to complicated behavior of gap conductance. To avoid the time-consuming iteration scheme, simplification of the gap conductance model is done for the current design model. The simplified model considers only the heat conductance contribution to the gap conductance. The simplification is made possible by direct consideration of the gas conductivity depending on the composition of constituent gases in the gap and the fuel-cladding gap size from computer simulation of representative power histories. The simplified gap conductance model is applied to the various fuel power histories and the predicted gap conductances are found to agree well with the results of the design model.

Bio-inspired robot swarm control algorithm for dynamic environment monitoring

  • To monitor the environment and determine the source of a pollutant gradient using a multiple robot swarm, we propose a hybrid algorithm that combines two bio-inspired algorithms mimicking chemotaxis and pheromones of bacteria. The algorithm is implemented in virtual robot agents in a simulator to evaluate their feasibility and efficiency in gradient maps with different sizes. Simulation results show that the chemotaxis controller guided robot agents to the locations with higher pollutant concentrations, while the pheromone marked in a virtual field increased the efficiency of the search by reducing the visiting redundancy. The number of steps required to reach the target point did not increase proportionally as the map size increased, but were less than those in the linear whole-map search method. Furthermore, the robot agents could function with simple sensor composition, minimum information about the map, and low calculation capacity.

  • The cooling system is one of the most concerning factor for the reliability of the electric propulsion ship. Generally, a drive system operation in higher temperature decreases the device's reliability and power efficiency. The management of power loss and temperature of switching devices is indispensable for the reliability of the power electric system. In this paper, the switching devices are molded by IGBT, and the propulsion system is consisted of MIIR(Motor with Inverter Internal to Rotor). The system composition interacts with each other to calculate the loss and temperature of device. The calculation result is used for modeling and designing of the control and monitoring system for the electric propulsion system.

  • 넓은 범위의 온도와 조성 하에 있는 벤젠-톨루엔, 벤젠- 페놀, 벤젠- p-자일렌의 이성분계 기체 혼합물에 대한 점도와 확산계수를 반실험적 반전 방법을 사용하여 예측하였다. 점도와 확산계수에 대한 정확도는 각각 3%와 4% 이내이다.

Thermodynamic Evaluation of Fe Effect on Alumina Solubility in Orthopyroxene coexisting with Garnet

  • In the FMAS system the effect of iron on alumina solubility in orthopyroxene has been determined by experiments with crystalline starting mixtures of garnet and orthopyroxene of known initial compositions at 20 kb, 975$^{\circ}C$ and 25 kb, 1,200$^{\circ}C$. These data have been modeled to develop a thermodynamic method for the calculation of Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ in orthopyroxene as a function of P, T and composition. The direct application of the alumina solubility data in the MAS system to natural assemblages could lead to significant overestimation of pressure, probably by about 5kb for the relatively common garnet-lherzolites with abot 25 mol per cent Ca + Fe$^{2+}$ in garnet and about 1 wt. per cent Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ in orthopyroxene since the effect of Fe is similar to that of Ca and Cr$^{3+}$in reducing the alumina solubility in orthopyroxene in equilibrum with garnet relative to that in the MAS system.

단기통 2사이클 압축점화기관의 시뮬레이션 (Simulation of the single-cylinder 2-stroke cycle compression ignition engine)

  • The simulation of power cycle and unsteady gas exchange processes in the inlet and exhaust systems of the single-cylinder 2-stroke cycle compression ignition engine was studied in this paper. In power cycle process, the single-zone model proposed by Whitehouse and Way was used, and the convective and radiative heat transfer from cylinder contents to surroundings was considered. To solve the equations for gas exchange process, the generalized method of characteristics including area change, friction, heat transfer and entropy gradients was used. Also with the path line calculation, the entropy change along the path line and the variation of specific heat due to the change of temperature and the composition of cylinder gas were considered. As a result of the simulation, the change of pressure and temperature in the cylinder against the crank angle, the rate of net heat release, and the change of properties at each point in the inlet and exhaust pipe against the crank angle were obtained. The engine performances under various operating conditions were also calculated.

  • Process simulation requires accurate and reliable data for a wide variety of material properties, ranging from thermal conductivity to flow stress curves. Traditionally such data are gathered from experimental sources, which has significant disadvantages in that not all of the required data is readily available, it may be from various sources that are themselves inconsistent, measurement of high temperature properties is expensive, and furthermore the properties can be sensitive to microstructure as well as to alloy composition. This article describes the development of a new multi-platform software program called JMatPro, which is based on CALPHAD methodology, for calculating the properties and behavior of multi-component alloys. A feature of the JMatPro is that the calculations are based on sound physical principles rather than purely statistical methods. Thus, many of the shortcomings of methods such as regression analysis can be overcome.

Analysis of DDS Sampling Method and Harmonic Composition

  • Through theoretical proof and algorithm design, this paper numerically demonstrates that the three sampling methods of DDS are equivalent in amplitude-frequency characteristics. Depending on theoretical analysis, the article obtains the conclusion that 2 points are optimal when sampling at 2, 3, and 4 points. Built on the data results, this paper obtains the fractional form of the amplitude and phase of the DDS sampled signal; in addition, this paper also obtains the design parameters of the DDS post-stage filter. It also gives a control method for the calculation error when addressing this issue.

고밀도 금속 플라즈마 전기전도도 예측모델 (Prediction Model on Electrical Conductivity of High Density Metallic Plasma)

  • 본 연구에서는 현대적 전기식 기폭관의 해석 모델링을 대상으로 실용적 적용이 가능한 금속성 플라즈마 조성비 및 전기전도도 계산모델이 제시되었다. 현 플라즈마 모델은 기폭관 브릿지 전기폭발 현상 시 발생하는 고밀도 플라즈마 영역의 비이상 플라즈마 효과 보정을 포함하였다. 구리 플라즈마를 대상으로 한 계산 결과는 넓은 온도 범위 및 고밀도 영역에서 해당 측정 결과와 전반적으로 잘 일치하여 기폭관 모델링 대상 적용에 적절함을 보여주었다.

  • Planning/planning stage Construction cost prediction is very important. In particular, flexible thinking is required to predict the construction cost by reflecting rapid market changes and current conditions. Therefore, in this study, we tried to consider the process for calculating the construction cost of an apartment house in a more accurate planning/planning stage. First, cases were collected based on the classification system by construction type. Second, the construction cost was predicted using the case-based reasoning technique. Third, the composition ratio by construction type of the most similar case was applied to the derived construction cost. Finally, the construction cost was predicted based on practical corrections reflecting the market and field conditions.
