Design of Dangsan Steel Railway Bridge(a part of Seoul Subway Line NO. 2), which is supposed to be replaced after its 15years survice, was done, and the reconstruction has begun in Dec. 1997. The design include new superstruc-ture and bridge piers, retrofitting of the foun-dation, rail system, electric and signal, etc. In this paper, design of the structure is mainly summarized. The main span superstructure, across Han river, is composite section which is com-posed of steel box and reinforced concrete deck slab with 9 span continuous. The superstructure for the approaches is bottom througth type 2-cell steel box girder with steel floor system and concrete deck slab with 3 or 4 span continuous. The bridge piers was planned to be reconstructed based upon the result from the various investi-gations, while the foundation(cassion and pile foundation) was planned to be retrofitted. For superstructure erection, the method of combination of barge bent and heavy lifting and the launching truss method was investigated for the main span and approach spans, respectively.
This work presents an efficient and original hyperbolic shear deformation theory for the bending and dynamic behavior of functionally graded (FG) beams resting on Winkler - Pasternak foundations. The theory accounts for hyperbolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the beam without using shear correction factors. Based on the present theory, the equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. Navier type analytical solutions are obtained for the bending and vibration problems. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions. It can be concluded that the present theory is not only accurate but also simple in predicting the bending and vibration behavior of functionally graded beams.
In this paper, free vibration, forced vibration, resonance and stress wave propagation behavior in nanocomposite plates reinforced by wavy carbon nanotube (CNT) are studied by a mesh-free method based on first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The plates are resting on Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation and subjected to periodic or impact loading. The distributions of CNTs are considered functionally graded (FG) or uniform along the thickness and their mechanical properties are estimated by an extended rule of mixture. In the mesh-free analysis, moving least squares (MLS) shape functions are used for approximation of displacement field in the weak form of motion equation and the transformation method is used for imposition of essential boundary conditions. Effects of CNT distribution, volume fraction, aspect ratio and waviness, and also effects of elastic foundation coefficients, plate thickness and time depended loading are examined on the vibrational and stresses wave propagation responses of the nanocomposite plates reinforced by wavy CNT.

This paper is to investigate the effects of support conditions on the whirling stability of a supercritical composite driveshaft. Two system parameters are rigorously considered: one is the bending stiffness of the support beam/bearings and the other is the rotating internal damping of the shaft. An analytic model is developed based on finite element methods and an eigenvalue analysis is employed to estimate the shaft stability under supercritical operating conditions. Results show that the internal damping causes the whirling instability at a supercritical speed, as demonstrated in other previous studies. However, the bending stiffness of the support beam is found to affect greatly the stability behaviors of a supercritical shaft and several combinations of the shaft/beam stiffness can be identified to guarantee the stable operation even in a supercritical region.
In this study, nonlinear vibration and stability of a polymeric pipe reinforced by single-walled carbon naotubes (SWCNTs) conveying fluid-nanoparticles mixture flow is investigated. The Characteristics of the equivalent composite are determined using Mori-Tanaka model considering agglomeration effects. The surrounding elastic medium is simulated by orthotropic visco-Pasternak medium. Employing nonlinear strains-displacements, stress-strain energy method the governing equations were derived using Hamilton's principal. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is used for obtaining the frequency and critical fluid velocity. The influence of volume percent of SWCNTs, agglomeration, geometrical parameters of pipe, viscoelastic foundation and fluid velocity are shown on the frequency and critical fluid velocity of pipe. Results showed the increasing volume percent of SWCNTs leads to higher frequency and critical fluid velocity.
In the present research post-buckling of a cut out plate reinforced through carbon nanotubes (CNTs) resting on an elastic foundation is studied. Material characteristics of CNTs are hypothesized to be altered within thickness orientation which are calculated according to Mori-Tanaka model. For modeling the system mathematically, first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is applied and using energy procedure, the governing equations can be derived. With respect to Rayleigh-Ritz procedure as well as Newton-Raphson iterative scheme, the motion equations are solved and therefore, post-buckling behavior of structure will be tracked. Diverse parameters as well as their reactions on post-buckling paths focusing cut out measurement, CNT's volume fraction and agglomeration, dimension of plate and an elastic foundation are investigated. It is revealed that presence of a square cut out can affect negatively post-buckling behavior of structure. Moreover, adding nanocompsits in the matrix leads to enhancement of post-buckling response of system.
In this study, vibration analysis of a concrete foundation-reinforced by $SiO_2$ nanoparticles resting on soil bed is investigated. The soil medium is simulated with spring constants. Furthermore, the Mori-Tanaka low is used for obtaining the material properties of nano-composite structure and considering agglomeration effects. Using third order shear deformation theory or Reddy theory, the total potential energy of system is calculated and by means of the Hamilton's principle, the coupled motion equations are obtained. Also, based an analytical method, the frequency of system is calculated. The effects of volume percent and agglomeration of $SiO_2$ nanoparticles, soil medium and geometrical parameters of structure are shown on the frequency of system. Results show that with increasing the volume percent of $SiO_2$ nanoparticles, the frequency of structure is increased.

The present study analyzed free vibration of the three-layered micro annular/circular plate which its core and face sheets are made of saturated porous materials and FG-CNTRCs, respectively. The structure is subjected to magneto-electric fields and magneto-electro-mechanical pre loads. Mechanical properties of the porous core and also FG-CNTRC face sheets are varied through the thickness direction. Using dynamic Hamilton's principle, the motion equations based on MCS and FSD theories are derived and solved via GDQ as an efficient numerical method. Effect of different parameters such as pores distributions, porosity coefficient, pores compressibility, CNTs distribution, elastic foundation, multi-physical pre loads, small scale parameter and aspect ratio of the plate are investigated. The findings of this study can be useful for designing smart structures such as sensor and actuator.

In this study, Mangifera Indica tree sawdust reinforced bisphenol-A aniline based benzoxazine composites were prepared by varying the sawdust from 20 wt% to 45 wt%. Thermogravimetric analysis of composites revealed excellent compatibility between polybenzoxazine and sawdust from the remarkable growth in char yield from 22% (neat resin) to 36% (for highly filled) and glass transition temperature from 151 to 165℃. Ultimate weight loss of the composites evaluated from the Derivatives of TG plots. Limiting oxygen index values of the composites reported considerable growth i.e.,from 28 to 32 along with the increase in filler content. Differential scanning calorimetry results showed that sawdust particles have an insignificant effect on curing temperature (219℃) for the raise in sawdust content. Structure of the sawdust, benzoxazine monomer, polybenzoxazine and composites were studied using Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy. Overall, polybenzoxazine composites with sawdust as filler showed improved thermal properties when compared with pure polybenzoxazine.
The possibility of energy harvesting as well as vibration of a three-layered beam consisting of two piezoelectric layers and one core layer made of nonpiezoelectric material is investigated using nonlocal strain gradient theory. The three-layered nanobeam is resting on an elastic foundation. Hamilton's principle is used to derive governing equations and associated boundary conditions. The generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) was used to discretize the equations, and the Newmark beta method was used to solve them. The size-dependency of the elastic foundation is considered using two-phase elasticity. The equations, as well as the solution procedure, are validated utilizing some compassion studies. This work can be a basis for future studies on energy harvesting of small scales.
