알루미나-실리카계 세라믹복합체 제조 연구(II) (Synthesis of Alumina-Silica ceramic material(II))

  • 본 연구에서는 방탄물성이 매우 우수한 알루미나-실리카계 방탄재료(PL-8)의 방탄물성을 향상시키기 위해 성형압력 및 소결온도를 변화시켰다. 물리/기계적 물성을 측정 한 후 성형작약(HEAT)/운동에너지(KE)탄에 대한 방탄물성을 측정하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 소결온도 $1235^{\circ}C$에서 성형작약탄에 대한 방탄물성이 가장 높았으며 기 개발된 알루미나-실리카계 방탄재료 (PL-8)에 비해 $22\%$ 방탄물성이 향상되었다.

  • In this study, 20 types of samples were prepared by mixing different kinds of inorganic materials to develop insulation materials for epoxy - based GIS substation equipment used under high voltage environmentally friendly insulation gas. One of the electrical characteristics, AC insulation breakdown experiment was performed. As mixing ratio of mixed heterogeneous inorganic materials, the dielectric breakdown strength was increased with increasing filler ratio of micro silica, micro silica : micro Alumina, 1:9, 3:7, 5:5, 7:3, 9:1, and decreased as the filling amount of micro alumina increased. The AC insulation breakdown characteristics were the best when the composition ratio was 9:1. The higher the content of silica, the better the interfacial properties, and the larger the alumina content ratio, the worse the interfacial properties.

  • The effect of $\alpha$-Al2O3 seeding on preparation of zirconia/alumina gel fragment prepared by sol-gel processing was characterized through XRD, SEM, TG/DTA and IR analysis. Aluminum isopropoxide and zirconium butoxide were used as starting materials. $\alpha$-Al2O3 seeding restrained grain growth of alumina and zirconia, and decreased tetragonal to monoclinic phase transformation of zirconia on cooling. Therefore, fine zirconia-toughened alumina composite having the relative sintered density of about 98% of theoretical at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h could be obtained.

Alumina-Zirconia-Mullite 복합체의 상생성 및 치밀화 특성에 미치는 $\alpha-AI_2O_3$ Seeding 효과 (Effects of $\alpha-AI_2O_3$ Seeding on Phase Formation and Densification Characteristics of Alumina-Mullite-Zirconia Composites)

  • Compositionally triphasic boehmite-silica-zirconia composite gels were prepared by a multiphasic sol-gel route. Phase-formation characteristics and densification behavior of the gel compacts were examined with and without $\alpha$-Al2O3 seeding. In the unseeded triphasic gels, both $\alpha$-Al2O3 and mullite crystallize simultaneously at 130$0^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the $\alpha$-Al2O3 seeding selectively induces the formation of corundum phase ($\alpha$-Al2O3) at a significantly lower temperature (~110$0^{\circ}C$) and facilitates an epitaxial growth of $\alpha$-Al2O3 between 1100~130$0^{\circ}C$. The densification of alumina-mullite-zirconia composite (derived from the triphasic gels) was also enhanced by the $\alpha$-Al2O3 seeding, and this was attributed to the delayed crystallization of mullite in the $\alpha$-Al2O3 seeded gel.

  • For dry machining of mineral materials the Institute of Materials Engineering pursues a novel thermal protection shield concept for diamond tools, in which thermal insulating materials in diamond composite structures act as heat shield, which protects diamonds in deeper layers against high temperature and graphitisation. Before the effectiveness of this concept could be investigated suitable composites have to be manufactured. In this paper the powder metallurgical production processes of diamond-alumina-cobalt-composites with varying alumina and cobalt particle sizes, their microstructures and porosities are described. It could be observed that the distribution of small-sized alumina particles ($<70{\mu}m$) in the cobalt matrix is uniform and the porosity of the composite decrease.

Effects of Nano-silica/Nano-alumina on Mechanical and Physical Properties of Polyurethane Composites and Coatings

  • The present approach shows the use of nano-silica/nano-alumina in polyurethane (PU) matrix, which lead to significant improvements in the mechanical and thermal properties of the nano-composite. It is observed that with incorporation of 1% of nano-alumina into the PU matrix, there is an improvement in the tensile strength of around 50%, and for nano-silica the improvement is around 41%, at the same concentration. The morphological data shows that above 3% of the nano particles there are agglomerations in the nanocomposite. Again with the absorption of moisture, there is a decrease in the thermal and mechanical properties of the PU resin, but in this research work it is observed that with the incorporation of the nano particles, in the presence of absorbed moisture there is an improvement in mechanical and thermal properties of the composite, over that of the PU matrix.

세라믹 정밀/한외여과 복합막을 이용한 폐윤활유 정제 (Reclamation of Waste Lubricating Oil Using Ceramic Micro/Ultrafiltration Composite Membrances)

  • The permeation characteristics and reclamation efficiency of waste lubricating oil were studied as a function of the types of ceramic composite membranes and the membrane separation process variables. The oil permeability of the TiO2 composite membrane(pore size 0.015 $\mu\textrm{m}$) was directly proportional to the crossflow velocity(0.22∼0.9 m/s) and temperature(150$^{\circ}C$∼200$^{\circ}C$). In the batch concentration process, as the concentration factor increased, both the permeability and the ash content of the permeate decreased. The average ash contents of the total permeate through the A6 alumina membrane(average pore size 0.8$\mu\textrm{m}$), Z1/A6 and Z1/A4(pore size 0.23$\mu\textrm{m}$)/A7(pore size 6$\mu\textrm{m}$) zirconia composite membrances(average pore size 0.07$\mu\textrm{m}$) were about 0.063 wt%, 0.045wt% and 0.08wt% in the region of 1∼2 concentration factor, respectively. The ash content of the mixed permeate through the A6 alumina and zirconia composite membrane was about 0.06 wt% and it can be also reduced to 0.06 wt% in the Z1/A6 membrane and below 0.003 wt% in the TiO2/Z1/A6 membrane. It was concluded that the treated oil obtained from the multi-step membrane separation process could be used as reclaimed lubricating oil as well as reclained fuel oil.

알루미나입자로 강화된 알루미늄합금 복합재료의 미세조직과 기계적 성질 (Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Aluminum Alloy Composites Strengthened with Alumina Particles)

  • The mechanical properties and microstructures of aluminum-matrix composites fabricated by the dispersion of fine alumina particles less than $20{\mu}m$ in size into 6061 aluminum alloys are investigated in this study. In the as-quenched state, the yield stress of the composite is 40~85 MPa higher than that of the 6061 alloy. This difference is attributed to the high density of dislocations within the matrix introduced due to the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients between the matrix and the reinforcement. The difference in the yield stress between the composite and the 6061 alloy decreases with the aging time and the age-hardening curves of both materials show a similar trend. At room temperature, the strain-hardening rate of the composite is higher than that of the 6061 alloy, most likely because the distribution of reinforcements enhances the dislocation density during deformation. Both the yield stress and the strain-hardening rate of the T6-treated composite decrease as the testing temperature increases, and the rate of decrease is faster in the composite than in the 6061 alloy. Under creep conditions, the stress exponents of the T6-treated composite vary from 8.3 at 473 K to 4.8 at 623 K. These exponents are larger than those of the 6061 matrix alloy.

저온 소성용 유리-알루미나 복합체에서 알루미나의 부피분율과 입자크기에 따른 소결 거동 (Effects of Volume Fraction & Particle Size of Alumina on Sintering Behaviors of the Glass-Alumina Composites for Low Firing Temperature)

  • The sintering behaviors of the glass-alumina composites for low firing temperature were investigated as functiions of the volume fraction of alumina powder and the particle size with respect to porosity and pore shape. As the volume fraction of alumina powder was increased or the particle size of it was decreased, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was raised. When the volume fractions of alumina which had 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ median diameter were increased with 20, 30, 40, and 50%, the sintering temperatures of open pore-closing were 425, 450, 475, and 500$^{\circ}C$. And when the median particle size of alumina was diminished from 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 0.38$\mu\textrm{m}$, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was increased from 450$^{\circ}C$ to 475$^{\circ}C$. Especially, the sintering temperature, which showed maximum density, was corresponded with the stage of open pore-closing and after achieving maximum density over heating resulted in dedensification of specimen, so called, over-firing behavior.

  • 세라믹 인공치관으로 응용을 위해 생체친화적이며 용매에 용해가 잘되고 연소 후 잔류물이 남지 않는 결합제인 PVP로 수계용 알루미나 테이프를 제조하였다. 알루미나 테이프의 인장강도는 결합제(b)와 가소제(p)의 비(b/b+p))에 의해, 그리고 소결체 수축과 밀도는 알루미나(a)와 유기물(o)의 비 (a/(a+o))에 의해 영향을 받았다. 소결된 가공성 알루미나 테이프에 유리를 침투시켜 강화된 세라믹 인공치관용 복합체의 강도는 소결밀도가 증가할수록 높은 값을 보였다.
