  • CBD(Component Based Development) has become the best strategical method for the business application. Because CBD is a new development paradigm which makes it possible to assemble the software components for application, it copes with the rapid challenge of business process and meets the increasing requirements for productivity. Since the business process is rapidly changing, CBD technology is the promising way to solve the productivity. Especially, the repository is the most important part for the development, distribution and reuse of components. In component repository, we can store and manage the related work-products produced at each step of component development as well as component itself. In this paper, we suggested a practical approach for repository construction to support and realize the CBD process and developed the CRMS(Component Repository Management System) as implementation product of the proposed techniques. CRMS can manage a variety of component products based on component architecture, and help software developers to search a candidate component for their project and to understand a variety of information for the component. In the paper, a practical approach for component repository was suggested, and a supporting environment was constructed to make CBD to be working efficiently. We expect this work wall be valuable research for component repository and the entire supporting Component Based Development Process.

  • Defence Information System has surely required the guarantee of interoperability between systems as performing task oriented functions. To improve interoperability between them and use the benefits of component based development, defense officers are planning to develop COE like a kind of component bank concept. Defense component development methodology(ADDMe) within COE is a new approach of component based methodology for Defense environment after comparing, analyzing, and synthesizing with traditional CBDs. In this paper we introduce advanced defense component development methodology(ADDMe) and present checklist for improving interoperability between Defence component based systems which are developed with ADDMe. With our proposed interoperability's checklist, we can improve interoperability of defense component based systems through applying per each phase of ADDMe.

  • High quality software is the one that has an excellent performance with a low price, consumer's request satisfaction and less bug. In addition, it should have structure easily maintainable. CBD(Component Based Development)technology is getting more popular as a method for software development which can satisfy all above conditions. Although there are a lot of test methods about component for composition, function, compatibility and reliability, it's not enough to ensure that the component has reliability, maintainability, and reusability, so an integated method are necessary. In this paper, we are going to propose the solution model for integrating components, which are based on UML (Unified Modeling Language) technologies. This model can extract existing faults in the component interfaces by referencing sequence diagram and collaboration diagram.

  • Different from traditional development methodologies like waterfall model, the CBD (component based development) methodology relies on a building block approach in the design and development of information system. The audit procedure and checklist for the traditional IS development methodology are required to be modified to be suitable for CBD. This research reviewed IS audit guidelines for the existing development process and analyzed multiple projects that employed the by component based development process. For the purpose of this study, we chose a governmental project and a next-generation IS project of a financial agency as sample cases. By comparing existing IS audit checklists and items actually reviewed in audit projects, this study identified appropriate check items for the CBD-centric audit program. New items were proposed as additional items such as project control in management phase, usage case and conceptual model establishment, component evaluation and design, in implementation phase, and so forth. The result of the research provides new guidelines for the audit CBD projects for the purposed of increased efficiency and qualify of application development projects.

  • As component-based development (CBD) rapidly spread throughout the software industry, a comprehensive methodology is needed to apply it more systematically. For this purpose, a new CBD methodology named Magic & Robust Methodology Integrated III (MaRMI-III) has been developed. The purpose of this paper is to present MaRMI-III by its constituent processes and claim that it can be used to support system developers conduct CBD in a consistent manner. First, we review the CBD approach to system development and the role of CBD methodology, and then we explain the several characteristics of MaRMI-III which are considered necessary to the CBD environment. Next, we explain a process model of MaRMI-III which separates the development process from the project management process and prescribes well-ordered activities and tasks that the developer should conduct. Each phase forming the Process Model is explained in terms of its objectives and main constituent activities. Some techniques and workproducts related to each phase are also explained. Finally, to examine the usefulness of MaRMI-III, an analytical comparison with other CBD methodologies and the results of a questionnaire survey are described.

  • Component-Based Development (CBD) is a reuse technology Providing enhancement in productivity through using the unit of component which is larger-grained than an object. However, reference model defining the elements and semantics of CBD component is standardized neither internationally nor in industrial. This yields interoperability and portability problem between CBD platforms, and presents burden of choosing appropriate model to developers. In this paper, we define meta-models for representative component reference models, and identify advantages, disadvantages, and features of each model through technical comparison of meta-models. Besides, through a proposal of essential component model containing common and essential elements that all component models must conform and a extended component model containing maximum elements and mechanisms, we can precisely assess candidate component models in practice.

  • As for the software development, it is complicated, and size of software is growing larger. And contraction of a software development period is required acutely because it is short a period of software life cycle. Also, it becomes harder development and a maintenance because it is short a life cycle of developed software. According to this an effort is increased in order to reduce a development cost and time as using a component to have been implemented previously in development of software. A current component technology is developing into a very fast speed and is bringing a large change into development of a Web base system in addition to existing software development method. In this paper, we were handling a related technology for Web system development of a CBD base systematically and derived an issue to apply it to development of a Web system and presented an efficient practical use method of a component technology. First of all we looked into a component technology and a CBD methodology systematically and described a component technology in Web. Also, we proposed a method to increase development and efficiency of practical use of a Web system based on a component. The this study result can decrease a development cost of a Web system and a load of maintenance management through the re-use of a code.

  • Component-based software development (CBD) is a methodology that has been embraced by the software industry to accelerate development, save costs and timelines, minimize testing requirements, and boost quality and output. Compared to the conventional software development approach, this led to the system's development being completed more quickly. By choosing components, identifying systems, and evaluating those systems, CBSE contributes significantly to the software development process. The objective of CBSE is to codify and standardize all disciplines that support CBD-related operations. Analysis of the comparison between component-based and scripting technologies reveals that, in terms of qualitative performance, component-based technologies scale more effectively. Further study and application of CBSE are directly related to the CBD approach's success. This paper explores the introductory concepts and comparative analysis related to component-based software engineering which have been around for a while, but proper adaption of CBSE are still lacking issues are also focused.

  • Since Component-Based Development, or CBD, struck Korea SI industry a heavy blow several years ago, many major SI companies in Korea have implemented the CBD practices in real world, leveraging supports from the government and academic world. The result, however, falls short of their expectations. The major reason is that they have mainly focused on CBD processes and technical issues around it, although it is necessary as well to deal with other non-technical issues in order to make business values from CBD. This paper begins with reminding us what CBD tries to achieve indeed in terms of software development processes, then recognizes what we have achieved so far introducing a recent CBD project case, BOK-WIRE system. Thereafter, it reveals the chances that SI companies must take in order to make their CBD efforts succeed, pointing out what are the roadblocks really.

  • Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) has been accepted for supporting Component-Based Development (CBD). A component is a large-grained reuse unit consisting of several objects; however, an enterprise bean in EJB is a unit of atomic object and so multiple enterprise beans should be composed to support larger-grained reuse. Therefore, we need practical methods for designing and implementing components with EJB. In this paper, we propose instructions and techniques for designing CBD elements with EJB constructs. That is, we define methods for designing and implementing single and composite components, white- and black-box components, multiple interfaces, and variability mechanism in EJB platform. We evaluate the proposed method by performing a case study and comparing the characteristics of CBD components with the method. Consequently, the method is supposed to improve reusability, applicability, portability of components in EJB platform.
