  • The traffic signal has been widely used in the transport system with a fixed time interval currently. This kind of setting time was determined based on experience for vehicles to generate a waiting time while allowing pedestrians crossing the street. However, this strict setting causes inefficient problems in terms of economic and safety crossing. In this research, we propose a monitoring algorithm to detect, track and check pedestrian crossing the crosswalk by the patterns of behavior. This monitoring system ensures the safety for pedestrian and keeps the traffic flow in efficient. In this algorithm, pedestrians are detected by using HOG feature which is robust to illumination changes in outdoor environment. According to a complex computation, the parallel process with the GPU as well as CPU is adopted for real-time processing. Therefore, pedestrians are tracked by the relationship of hue channel in image sequence according to the predefined pedestrian zone. Finally, the system checks the pedestrians' crossing on the crosswalk by its HOG based behavior patterns. In experiments, the parallel processing by both GPU and CPU was performed so that the result reaches 16 FPS (Frame Per Second). The accuracy of detection and tracking was 93.7% and 91.2%, respectively.

  • The paper reports a multiple source modeling of low-Reynolds-number dissipation rate equation with aids of DNS data. The key features of the model are to satisfy the wall limiting conditions of the individual source terms in the exact dissipation rate equation using the wall damping functions. The wall damping functions are formulated in term of dimensionless dissipation length scale ι(sup)+(sub)D(≡ι(sub)D($\upsilon$$\xi$)(sup)1/4/$\upsilon$) and the invariants of small and large scale turbulence anisotropy tensors. $\alpha$(sub)ij(=$\mu$(sub)i$\mu$(sub)j/$\kappa$-2$\delta$(sub)ij/3) and e(sub)ij(=$\xi$(sub)ij/$\xi$-2$\delta$(sub)ij/3). The model constants are optimized with aids of DNS data in a plane channel flow. Adopting the dissipation length scale as a parameter of damping function, the applicabilities of $\kappa$-$\xi$ model are extended to the turbulent flow calculation of complex flow passages.

  • In mobile communication networks, the main power consumption is due to the actual transmissions power. Therefore, power efficiency network structures have gained considerable importance in mobile multi-hop systems and networks in recent years. In this paper, the performance of mobile multi-hop wireless system with M-QAM signal and forward error control (FEC) technique are analyzed The FEC technique uses extra processing power related to encoding and decoding, it is need complex functions to be built into the communication node. The probability of receiving a correct bit and codeword for relaying a data frame over h hop relay station to the final station is evaluated as a function of channel parameter and number of hops, and the distance between the different station.

  • When the wall temperature is very high, a stable vapor film covers the heat transfer surface. The vapor film creates a strong thermal resistance when heat is transferred to the liquid though it. This phenomenon, called "film boiling" is very important in the heat treatment of metals, the design of cryogenic heat exchangers, and the emergency cooling of nuclear reactors. In the practical engineering problems of the transient cooling process of a high temperature wall, the wall temperature history, the variation of the heat transfer coefficients, and the wall superheat at the rewetting points, are the main areas of concern. These three areas are influenced in a complex fashion such factors as the initial wall temperature, the physical properties of both the wall and the coolant, the fluid temperature, and the flow state. Therefore many kinds of specialized experiments are necessary in the creation of precise thermal design. The object of this study is to investigate the heat transfer characteristics in the transient cooling process of a high temperature wall. The slow transient cooling experiment was carried out with a copper block of high thermal capacity. The block was 240 mm high and 79 mm O.D.. The coolant flowed throuogh the center of a 10 mm diameter channel in the copper block. In the copper block, three sheathed thermocouples were placed in a line perpendicular to the flow. These thermocouples were used to take measurements of the temperature histories of the copper block.

  • Non-coherent UWB receivers are promising due to the low hardware complexity while the coherent receiver such as the rake receiver requires the complex hardware to estimate channel characteristics and get the synchronization. In this letter, the block coded modulation scheme as one of the most promising method is enhanced in terms of the performance. The performance enhancement is carried out by the modification of the block structure with unequal frame length for each pulse. Simulation results show that the proposed method has the performance enhancement by the transmission rate or bit error rate.

  • The objective of the present work is to improve numerical predictions of unsteady turbulent swirling flows in the draft tubes of hydraulic power plants. We present Large Eddy Simulation (LES) results on a simplified draft tube consisting of a straight conical diffuser. The basis of LES is to solve the large scales of motion, which contain most of the energy, while the small scales are modeled. LES strategy is here preferred to the average equations strategies (RANS models) because it resolves directly the most energetic part of the turbulent flow. LES is now recognized as a powerful tool to simulate real applications in several engineering fields which are more and more frequently found. However, the cost of large-eddy simulations of wall bounded flows is still expensive. Bypass methods are investigated to perform high-Reynolds-number LES at a reasonable cost. In this study, computations at a Reynolds number about 2 $10^5$ are presented. This study presents the result of a new near-wall model for turbulent boundary layer taking into account the streamwise pressure gradient (adverse or favorable). Validations are made based on simple channel flow, without any pressure gradient and on the data base ERCOFTAC. The experiments carried out by Clausen et al. [1] reproduce the essential features of the complex flow and are used to develop and test closure models for such flows.

  • Despite the importance of and the vast empirical research attention devoted to commitment in channel relationships, several unresolved issues remain. First, although the term commitment is often measured as a single trait, measuring commitment as a single dimension, is problematic for the epistemological depth and methodological sophistication of the instrument. Second, consumer research has seldom considered the complex nature of commitment in consumer markets. This study hypothesized that the multidimensionality of commitment can be separately identified and that the multidimensional factors-LY(Loyalty), ID(Identity), INT(Internalization)-interact differently from those in inter-fun relationships. A conceptualization of commitment holds LY as a central mediator between ID and INT in this study. The data was collected from 491 retail consumers. For the measurement model test, the three-factor model was selected as representing the underlying factor structure in the sample data and the multidimensionality of commitment was confirmed. The conceptualized model, holding LY as a mediator of ID and INT, performed better than the competing model with INT as mediator of ID and LY. The results provide a theoretical contribution in furthering the research on relationship marketing with consumers by suggesting that the consumer commitment structure be presented differently from the organizational commitment.

  • This paper presents the replication of a desired vibration response by iterative learning control (ILC) system for a vibration motion replication actuator. The vibration motion replication actuator has parameter uncertainties including system nonlinearity and joint nonlinearity. Vehicle manufacturers worldwide are increasingly relying on road simulation facilities that put simulated loads and stresses on vehicles and subassemblies in order to reduce development time. Road simulation algorithm is the key point of developing road simulation system. With the rapid progress of digital signal processing technology, more complex control algorithms including iterative learning control can be utilized. In this paper, ILC algorithm was utilized to produce simultaneously the six channels of desired responses using the Stewart platform composed of six linear electro-magnetic actuators with Halbach magnet array. The convergence rate and accuracy showed reasonable results to meet the requirement. It shows that the algorithm is acceptable to replicate multi-channel vibration responses.

  • Crosstalk canceller in stereo channel audio reproduction system has the purpose to deliver desired signals exactly at the listener's ear. Generally. it has a Poor performance in low frequency bands. Frequency-warped Otters are used to provide improved performance in crosstalk canceller for these problems. However. such filters are more complex to implement than conventional filters. This paper presents an efficient method for low-order IIR approximation of frequency warped crosstalk cancellation filters using Pole-zero dewarping. The method preserves the advantages of frequency warping, but has a computational complexity that is similar to the conventional method. This Paper also presents a series of experiments that validate the method of crosstalk canceller.

  • A microlens has been fabricated by various methods such as a thermal reflow, hot embossing, diamond milling, etc. However, these methods require a relatively complex process to control the microlens shape. In this work, we report on a simple and cost-effective method to fabricate a cylindrical microlens (CML), which can diffuse light widely. We have employed a slot-die head with the dual plate (a meniscus guide with a protruded μ-tip and a shim with a slit channel) for coating of a narrow stripe using poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). We have shown that the higher the coating gap, the lower the maximum coating speed, which causes an increase in the stripe width and thickness. The coated PMMA stripe has the concave shape. To make it in the shape of a convex microlens, we have applied the thermal reflow method. When the stripe thickness is small, however, its effect is negligible. To increase the stripe thickness, we have increased the number of repeated coating. With this scheme, we have fabricated the CML with the width of 223 ㎛ and the thickness of 7.3 ㎛. Finally, we have demonstrated experimentally that the CML can diffuse light widely, a feature demanded for light extraction efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and suppression of moiré patterns in displays.
