  • This paper aims to stretch the technology acceptance model (TAM) approach by investigating a clothes rental network. One of the understudied geographies of the world economy is the large-scale international trade in clothes, which are consumed by Chinese consumers. An online (www.sojump.com) survey was conducted by including 303 Chinese respondents. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the proposed hypothesis. The results indicated that external influence has a significant impact on the perceived ease of rental. Furthermore, consumers' perceived ease of rental influences the attitude towards renting, and perceived ease of rental plays a complete mediating role between them. However, external influence has no significant impact on perceived usefulness, and consumers' perceived usefulness has no impact on rental intention. In addition, attitude towards renting works as an indispensable mediation between perception and behavior. This study highlights the role of perception, attitude, behavior on clothes rental, and provides guidance and suggestions for clothes rental platform.

  • This paper proposes a complete solution of a contention-based medium access control in wireless local networks to provide station level quality of service guarantees in both downstream and upstream directions. The solution, based on the mature distributed coordination function protocol, includes a new fixed contention window backoff scheme, a tuning procedure to derive the optimal parameters, a super mode to mitigate the downstream bottleneck at the access point, and a simple admission control algorithm. The proposed system guarantees that the probability of the delay bound violation is below a predefined threshold. In addition, high channel utilization can be achieved at the same time. The numerical results show that the system has advantages over the traditional binary exponential backoff scheme, including efficiency and easy configuration.

  • The purpose of this study is to make an in-between space considered as an abandoned thing to the central place of commercial area by utilizing it to form the each places' identities. The methodology of the design is not about one complete form but about a continuous process by negotiation. This process is proceeded by holding council between public institution and private owners of the buildings and applied the rules to various cases in similar places in the commercial area. This project has been developed in order to construct a healthy network to connect buildings nearby and programs in a block. This place could provide the ground for public communication between any group to visit this place and make the spatial milieu of the city.

  • Shutdown of boiler plants is a dynamic, complicated, and hazardous operation. Operational error is a major contributor to danserous situations during boiler plant shutdowns. It is important to develop an automatic system which synthesizes operating procedures to safely go from normal operation to complete shutdown. Knowledge representation for automatic shutdown of boiler plants makes use of the hierarchical, rule-based framework for heuristic knowledge, the semantic network, frame for process topology, and AI techniques such as rule matching, forward chaining, backward chaining, and searching. This knowledge representation and modeling account for the operational states, primitive operation devices, effects of their application, and planning methodology. Also, this is designed to automatically formulate subgoals, search for positive operation devices, formulate constraints, and synthesize shutdown procedures in boiler plants.

  • The current study presents a zero-one integer programming approach to determine the minimum break point set for the coordination of directional relays. First, the network is reduced if there are any parallel lines or three-end nodes. Second, all the directed loops are enumerated to reduce the iteration. Finally, the problem is formulated as a set-covering problem, and the break point set is determined using the zero-one integer programming technique. Arbitrary starting relay locations and the arbitrary consideration of relay sequence to set and coordinate relays result in navigating the loops many times and futile attempts to achieve system-wide relay coordination. These algorithms are compared with the existing methods, and the results are presented. The problem is formulated as a setcovering problem solved by the zero-one integer programming approach using LINGO 12, an optimization modeling software.

  • We propose two control methods of the Lyapunov exponents for Jordan-type recurrent neural networks. Both the two methods are formulated by a gradient-based learning method. The first method is derived strictly from the definition of the Lyapunov exponents that are represented by the state transition of the recurrent networks. The first method can control the complete set of the exponents, called the Lyapunov spectrum, however, it is computationally expensive because of its inherent recursive way to calculate the changes of the network parameters. Also this recursive calculation causes an unstable control when, at least, one of the exponents is positive, such as the largest Lyapunov exponent in the recurrent networks with chaotic dynamics. To improve stability in the chaotic situation, we propose a non recursive formulation by approximating ...

  • A coverage of about 1 μm-sized pores of a membrane filter by four monolayers of maleic acids copolymers and poly(allylamine) (PAA) was attained by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique through a covalent cross-linking followed a polyion complexation at the air-water interface. The copolymers were prepared to have side chains of hydrocarbon tail, carboxyl, and/or oligoether in the repeat unit. The surface pressure-area isotherms showed that the monolayers on an aqueous PAA have more expanded area than on pure water. The monolayers were transferable on a calcium fluoride substrate and a fluorocarbon membrane filter as Y deposition type, and the resulting LB films were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. A polymer network produced through interchain amide formation was confirmed in as-deposited films. The films were heat-treated in order to complete the cross-linking. SEM observation of the heat-treated film on a porous membrane filter showed that the four layer film was sufficiently stable to cover the filter pore of about 1 μm. Immersion of the film in water or in chloroform did not cause any change in its appearance on SEM and in FT-IR spectra.

  • To reduce mobile network deployment costs and expand service coverage, mobile infrastructure sharing is becoming increasingly important. This paper introduces the concept and potential benefits of mobile infrastructure sharing as documented in the existing literature. Then, the current status of significant cases of mobile infrastructure sharing in major overseas countries is examined. Finally, sharing 5G infrastructure in rural areas in Korea is introduced. The Korean case is expected to complete national 5G coverage successfully without involving negative competition.

  • In this investigation, Elman neural networks were utilized for predicting the mechanical properties of Self-Compacting Concretes (SCCs). Elman models were designed by using experimental data of many different concrete mixdesigns of various types of SCC that were collected from the literature. In order to investigate the effectiveness of the selected input variables on the network performance in predicting intended properties, utilized data in artificial neural networks were considered in two sets of 8 and 140 input variables. The obtained outcomes showed that not only can the developed Elman ANNs predict the mechanical properties of SCCs with high accuracy, but also for all of the desired outputs, networks with 140 inputs, compared to ones with 8, have a remarkable percent improvement in the obtained prediction results. The prediction accuracy can significantly be improved by using a more complete and accurate set of key factors affecting the desired outputs, as input variables, in the networks, which is leading to more similarity of the predicted results gained from networks to experimental results.

  • Schedule management of construction work is important in order to complete construction projects within a given period of time. Many efforts have been made and many tools have been developed in order to manage construction projects by a smart device such as smart phones and smart pads. This research proposed a basic design to manage construction schedules via a smart device using Flash. The interactive and graphic property of Flash enables a field manager to manage schedules easily and efficiently. A basic structure was designed for a user to be able to make and change a schedule by touching the smart device's screen. And a prototype was implemented by Adobe Flash/Flex Builder, it is applied to a sample network in a smart phone.
