Artificial Intelligence Strategy for Advertising and Media Industries: Focused on In-depth Interviews (광고 및 미디어 산업 분야의 인공지능(AI) 활용 전략 : 심층인터뷰를 중심으로)

  • The world's major countries carry forward strategies for enhancing industrial competitiveness, resulting in the fourth industrial revolution while a new growth engine is required to deal with the slow growth of global economy and declining productivity. Artificial intelligence (AI) is regarded as a core technology of the fourth industrial revolution. AI is expected to be implemented rapidly in advertising and media industries. However, it is hard to find an effective way to implement AI in these industries, especially because of how quickly the AI market changes and develops. Therefore, this study seeks the possible industrial influence of AI in advertising and media industries and invigoration plan for AI, by an in-depth interview with 10 professionals who lead the AI market. First, it was analyzed to explore the macroscopic side of the AI market through P (Politics), E (Economy), S (Society), and T (Technology). Also, the applicability of AI in advertising and media industries was explored by analyzing its S (Strength), W (Weakness), O (Opportunity), and T (Threat).The result indicates that it is necessary to build up a nation-wide construction of infrastructure for the fourth industrial revolution to invigorate AI in advertising and media industries. Moreover, a social environment capable of overcoming a hyper-connected society and social risks should be fostered. Lastly, it is urgent for both the industrial and academic world to diagnose the influence of AI in advertising and media industries, to anticipate the future in accordance with technological advance, set a proper direction, to invest actively for technical development of AI, and to formulate innovative policies.

  • This study has the purpose to make a conceptual model which can explain the relationship between the research performance, and the fitness of environmental property and the technology development strategy. The environmental property consists of the competitiveness, the complexity of environment, and the market growth. The technology development strategy consists of the innovativeness of technology, the upgrade of product, and the usage of the out resource. And the ability to manage knowledge resource is a very important variable which can modulate the fitness of environmental property and the technology development strategy.

  • Under the influence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there are many tries to promote productivity enhancement and competitiveness by adapting smart farm technology that converges ICT technologies in agriculture. This smart farming technology is emerging as a new paradigm for future growth in agriculture. The development of real-time cultivation environment monitoring and automatic control system is needed to implement smart farm. Furthermore, the development of intelligent system that manages cultivation environment using monitoring data of the growth of crops is required. In this paper, a fast and efficient development method for implementing a cloud-based smart farm management system using a highly compatible and scalable web platform is proposed. It was verified that the proposed method using the web platform is effective and stable system implementation through the operation of the actual implementation system.

  • Among methods of the big data process, big data process under the cloud environment is becoming a main topic. As part of solving faced problem and strengthening industrial competitiveness in the medical and health industry, discussion on ways to activate big data is actively being conducted. Because the reason is a paradigm shift, saving pressure for increasing health care costs, and increased consumer interest for the level of service. In this paper, we find out the relationship between the cloud and big data. And we are to research and analysis a cloud-based big data case in the medical field. Finally we propose the efficient utilization and future outlook. For the smooth functioning of cloud-based medical big data, we have to solve the problems like infrastructure extension, analysis/application software development, and professional manpower training. In addition, we have to correct insufficient laws maintenance to the Cloud utilization, and improve the security and the recognition to personal information, and solve authority for data centralization.

  • This study aims to suggest a new method to escape crisis of manufacturing industry. We focused on the field - oriented management innovation promotion performance divided into qualitative performance and quantitative performance. The site-centered management innovation is an organization that helps managers to quickly solve the problems faced by field management personnel by switching from manager-centered management method to on-site management personnel-oriented management. Find out the waste factors of the work and improve the process and set the process standards according to the customer's needs. Before working on the site, an employee should know exactly the process standard of what I will do, and frequently inspect the raw materials to make sure they meet the specifications. After the self-inspection is carried out, the standard is reviewed. If there is no abnormality, the cross-validation is carried out by the method which is carried over to the next step. The results of this study can be used to enhance the competitiveness of manufacturing companies. New management innovation techniques are required to adapt to the rapidly changing international business environment, and this study has implications for this research.

An Empirical Analysis of the Influence Factors on Open Innovation Activities in Korea (우리나라 개방형 혁신활동의 영향요인에 관한 실증분석 연구)

  • Focusing on open innovation which is regarded as an important framework for strengthening technological innovation capabilities, in this study empirical analysis is conducted on Korean manufacturing companies, particularly based on the survey results of 149 domestic manufacturing companies that carry out innovation activities in order to identify influence factors for open innovation activities. Analysis on the influence factors of open innovation activities categorized into characteristics of environment, firm-specific characteristics, and characteristics of institutions revealed that characteristics of environment in terms of the degree of market competition and technological changes influence outside-in open innovation activities. Such results suggest that companies respond to increased market competition or technological changes by promoting research and development (R&D) and maintaining or acquiring market competitiveness through introduction of external technology and utilization of external information by means of research collaboration, user innovation, and so on. In terms of firm-specific characteristics, outside-in open innovation activities are influence by R&D personnel, R&D investment, number of international business, export, and openness of corporate culture while inside-out open innovation activities are influenced by characteristics of international organization and CEO's capabilities. In order for companies to strengthen outside-in open innovation activities emphasis on research personnel, R&D input factors such as research funds are necessary whereas to increase inside-out open innovation activities organization solely responsible for international affairs should be established while the CEO needs to focus on open and cooperative entrepreneurship rather than internal technological innovation activities. In terms of characteristics of institutions, outside-in innovation activities are influenced by technological networking whereas inside-out innovation activities are influenced by networking for development of technology and the presence in industrial cluster. This means that the government needs to establish industrial clusters and try to expand technological networking to facilitate open innovation activities.

  • At the 21th century management environment with the emotion and creativity, as design has recognized the core element of management strategy, the combination of design and management, design management, has been increased the importance worldwidely. In the rapid changing enterprise environment, the small or venture enterprises in flexible management environment than the large enterprise have advantage on management process. The design management has created the various field of knowledge in the integrated solution, the integrated approach methods of management are the effective operative process in the importance of design management. As CEOs in small/venture enterprise take part in the innovation of design management, a specialistes in recognition of specificity and design management are defined and created the design management process through the enterprise resource planning programs. With the understanding on the above situation, the purpose of this study is to suggest the design is strategically applied in the management level of Daejeon region small/venture enterprises and the recognition of design management as a strengthen the competitiveness.

  • Now that there is no more barrier in terms of the global countries, every country begins to show its interest in the regional industry in order to boost local growth and economy revitalization preparing for the globalization, the age of limitless competition and the age of knowledge economy. The reason of the interesting in the regional industry is that it fosters the profitable environment that promotes technical innovation and knowledge creation. The local government should have continual concern and roles to fulfil the political subjects and keep analysing about the possibility that there could be the sustainable development by Task Ahead of the local industry. for this reason, this paper conducted a survey by targeting supported corporations's experience of supporting projects in the regional industry and the relationship impact of supporting projects in the regional industry. the elements are analyzed by PLS structural equation. To sum up, first, the improving of 'infrastructure Usage', 'Technical development', 'Marketing support', 'Attraction of investment', 'Manpower training' is impacted on Industrial development. Second, the improving of 'Joint research', 'Technology transfer', 'Attraction of investment', 'Manpower training', 'Networking ' is impacted on Regional development. Third, improving of Industrial development is impacted on Regional development.

The Influence of regional environment factor on Technology-based firms' Performance -Moderator effect of Innovation Intermediaries- (지역의 환경적 요인이 기술기반 창업기업 성과에 미치는 영향 -혁신거점기관의 조절효과를 중심으로-)

  • This study analyzed the role of innovation intermediaries on the performance of technology-based firms in Korea. Technology-based firms are important to the economy because they contribute to regional economic development and national competitiveness. In Korea, various types of intermediaries, such as Techno-parks and incubators have been established to foster technology-based firms. Researchers analyzed various factors influencing the performance of technology-based firms. On the other hand, there have been few studies on the relationship between the innovation intermediaries and the performance of technology-based firms in Korea. This study identified the firms' capabilities, institutional and environmental factors in the light of the literature. A total of 2,313 technology-based firms in Techno-parks, business incubator of public institutes and universities were surveyed. Of these, 110 respondents were used for empirical analysis. OLS techniques were applied to analyze the data. The empirical results showed that the marketing competence, R&D capacity, which is a firms' innovation capacity, have a positive effect on the performance. The support of intermediaries positively affects the performance of technology-based firms. The economic aspects of regional innovation infrastructure, and cooperation with the customer has a positive effect on the performance of technology-based firms.

  • This paper is to analyze how firms in a large firm-led industrial city have carried out the restructuring in the face of radical shifts, with focus on the strategy and the restructuring of firms in Ulsan, a typical industrial district in Korea that is specialized in heavy & chemical industry. It has been well known that the local economy has been led by a small number of large firms, including affiliates of chaebol, and its industrial structure has also been characterised as a clear dichotomy between large firms as a customer and small and medium-size firms as a supplier, which can be called not horizontal but vertical relations. It can identify some tendencies, however, that local companies have been rather dynamically changing in response to increasingly turbulent environment since the Asian crisis. Some are radical, but some incremental. These can be summarized in four distinctive but interlinked ways. First, more than half of local companies surveyed have attempted to change their production systems, mainly from the fordist mass production towards the flexible mass production, seeking both economies of scale and scope. Second, local firms have vigorously continued to reorganize the boundary of the production and the organization, by specializing products and focusing on the core competence in order to save costs and cope with radically changing customer demands in a flexible way. Third, there have been various strategies for the organizational innovation such as the introduction of team organization, the boundary blurring between the managerial and production workers and the intra-firm spin-offs, so as to improve managerial efficiency and competence in the use of internal labour market. Finally, they have tried to be more sensitive to the market and customers. These tendencies seem to be increasingly critical to sustain their competitiveness. To do so, they tend to focus increasingly not only on the competing via the product quality rather than through price, but also to seek to diversify the market and customer firms beyond national boundary.
