MARKAL (MARKet ALlocation) Model, one of the most sophisticated energy technology assessment model is applied to finding the optimum mix of energy sources and evaluating energy technology competitiveness in Korea. The model is capable of handling Multiple Objective Linear Programming to test the related cost minimization and environmental control function. In this paper three environmental regulation scenarios are observed including 10% and 20% reduction of carbon dioxide emission level. For the purpose of establishing the basic data base, Korea Reference Engergy System is also developed on the base of the year 1989 with technology utilization and energy flow analysis.

Recently, various types of information and communication technology (ICT) such as cloud computing, big data, and virtual reality have been progressed in the world. Also, it is expected that there are many domestic and foreign visitors in Gangwon-do due to the Pyeongchang winter olympic games in 2018. In this environment, it is necessary to improve the competitiveness of Gangwon-do in winter sports areas exploiting both existing IT infrastructure and application technologies. In this paper, for sustainable development of Gangwon-do winter sports IT industry after the Olympics, we propose efficient implementation methods of 3 winter sports IT convergence services and Gangwon-do ICT activation strategy. The proposed 3 winter sports IT service areas are as follows. 1) Realistic winter sports IT service, 2) Winter sports medical IT service 3) Winter sports record analysis IT service.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to aim to stress the importance of doing business environment in South Korean economy. The theoretical justification is based on neo-institutional theories and new business management including Porter's Model as main justifications of state intervention due to the market failures to promote a competitive environment of doing business. Research design, data and methodology - The methods to be taken is to provide a comparative performance analysis, and offer in terms of doing business and economic freedom sub-index complemented by Korean reforms diagnostics. Results - The main results underlined the key factors explain the success of business environment in South Korea such as: a simplified registration procedures, a target tax incentives, the removal of business barriers, the improvement of legislative and regulatory framework, target reforms, property right and technical norms, good governance and the quality of institution, a role of a well-functioning legal framework, a strong competition framework, and the transparency of regulation, etc. Conclusion - A competitive environment of doing business is based on the target national strategies, appropriate reforms responding to national needs and good governance system.

This study aims at helping Chinese container liners keep constant competitiveness in the heated competition Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), a mathematics-based, multi-criteria decision analysis methodology is applied in the study to the performance evaluation on the three biggest Chinese container liners: COSCON, CSCL, and Sinolines. Through the final results of AHP model, we completely learn the current situation of Chinese liners, therefore they are able to enhance the competitive advantage from modifying operation strategy and competition strategy in accordance with the shipping market.

Korean mobile communications industry has been a main locomotive of the drastic development of Korean IT industry and became one of core industries in national economy. To secure strong competitiveness of mobile communications industry, smooth cooperation should be reconsidered among government, universities, research institutions, and private companies. Future mobile communications technology will be evolved from IMT-2000 to system upgrade, 3.5G and 4G. And the goals of technology development are provision of mobile multimedia services based on better mobility and higher data speed rates. Therefore, Korea's technology development strategies of mobile communications should be focused on intensifying bondage of international cooperation, strengthening standardization activities, and enhancing core technology development capability to secure IPR.

The Platycodon grandiflorum (balloon flower) has been used as food material and traditional medicine in Asia. The roots have been used in traditional medicine to treat coughs, upper respiratory infections, and sore throats. Using 1,603 valid patents from 6 countries, we analyzed the patent trend based on year, countries, applicants, and technology. The technologies are categorized into 6 groups which include material, additives, manufacture, cultivation, breeding and seed. The technology competitiveness of countries were analyzed with quantitative factors such as cites per patent, patent impact index, patent family size and technology strength. In comparison with other countries in the patent index, South Korea shows an increasing trend in patent numbers and total leverage ability, although the individual technology is lower than Japan and USA. Our study provides information on technical trend to support the performance of new projects on balloon flower.

While the bilateral trade volume between China and U.S. has been growing rapidly, the trade deficits of U.S. to China has also been expanding. This growing trade deficit of U.S. to China has several reasons: the increase of foreign direct investment to China, the transfer of trade deficit origins, the intervention of U.S. domestic politics to China-U.S. trade relations, and U.S. direct control on export to China. However, the increased U.S. trade deficit to China does not mean that U.S. is in a disadvantaged position in its economic relations with China, or its international competitiveness is deteriorating. When U.S. surplus in service trade to China is included, the picture would be very different. Also, as internationalization progresses and China's industrial structure adjusts, the trade deficit of U.S. to China would narrow.

China has experienced repid economic growth since it opened its economic market. Apparently, China tends to follow the worldwide trends and it plans to play a leading role in the world. This study is to present some efficient entering strategies of Korean logistics firms in China by examining the current situations of logistics industry in China and some business strategies of international logistics firms in China. International construction contracts to Korean construction companies have been dramatically increased over the 48 years (Contract received worth 65.2 billion dollars in 2013). Especially, the plant construction sector has achieved about 61% among the 65.2 billion dollars. Under this trend, in order to ensure plant construction's competitiveness, 'standard classification' is an important area for systematic management. However, these standards in the plant construction are not widely utilized yet, in comparison with civil and building sectors. Therefore, in this research, a higher level of standard classifications is proposed for various types of power plants from a PMO's (Project Management Office) perspective. This study also provides a comparative analysis outlining different features and common components based on various types of power plants.
