  • Recently domestic mobile carriers have been engaged in heated battles for survival as the market is now rapidly approaching its maturity phase. and the launch of 3G service combined with the introduction of mobile number portability is dramatically reshaping the market landscape. The mobile carriers may have to create and maintain their competitive advantage based on their core capabilities and differentiated strategies. which will lead continuous survival and profits of the firm. This paper investigated competitiveness factors among mobile carriers. and analyzed the relationships of firm capabilities. competitive strategies and competitive advantage. We found that core capabilities and competitive strategies affecting competitive advantage are different from each carrier. Finally. we discussed strategic implications for carriers to increase their competitiveness.

중국 중소기업의 경쟁전략이 수출성과에 미치는 영향 : 기업가 지향성의 조절 효과를 중심으로 (The Effect of competitive strategy on Firms' Export Performance : Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Entrepreneurial Orientation)

  • For venturing into international markets, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have not only emphasized internal resources but entrepreneurial orientation has also become the need of the day due to its significant role in increasing firm's competitive capabilities. Although research indicates that the competitive strategies can significantly impact export performance, minor attention is given to the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, business competitive strategy and export performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This study scrutinizes the effect of each dimension of entrepreneurial orientation (i.e., innovativeness, risk-taking, and proactiveness) and each of generic competitive strategies (i.e., cost leadership and differentiation) on the export performance of Chinese SMEs. And we investigated the moderating effect of entrepreneurial orientation on the relationship between the competitive strategies and export performance. We surveyed 217 Chinese SMEs through a structured questionnaire. For the data analysis and hypotheses testing, we used AMOS. 27. The findings display that differentiation and cost leadership strategies significantly improve export performance. The innovativeness, risk-taking and proactiveness also spur Chinese SME's export performance. Further we find that adding entrepreneurial orientation significantly improves our model of the relationship between the competitive strategies and export performance. Thus, our study extends the entrepreneurial orientation literature and provides interesting new insights into how entrepreneurial orientation helps firms create more successful export operations.

  • The Korean hospital industry is rapidly changing along with the competition among hospitals. Until recently it was easy for hospitals to profit even without efficient management and competitive strategies. However, the increasingly intensive competition endanger their profits but also their survivals. Hospital managers have no choice but to seriously consider competitive management and marketing strategies to remain alive and prosper. This study introduces a useful methodology--perception map drawn using multidimensional scaling--for developing competitive strategies, and illustrates its application to developing a perception map of 9 Seoul-based general hospitals. We also suggest the concepts and examples of positioning strategies and patient satisfaction management system. One of the interesting findings is that the Samsung medical center which opened less than a year ago is ranked first in most aspects such as kindness, facilities, waiting time, and parking, and the second in clinical performance just after the Seoul National University Hospital.

경쟁 공진화 알고리듬에서 경쟁전략들의 비교 분석 (Comparison and Analysis of Competition Strategies in Competitive Coevolutionary Algorithms)

  • A competitive coevolutionary algorithm is a probabilistic search method that imitates coevolution process through evolutionary arms race. The algorithm has been used to solve adversarial problems. In the algorithms, the selection of competitors is needed to evaluate the fitness of an individual. The goal of this study is to compare and analyze several competition strategies in terms of solution quality, convergence speed, balance between competitive coevolving species, population diversity, etc. With two types of test-bed problems, game problems and solution-test problems, extensive experiments are carried out. In the game problems, sampling strategies based on fitness have a risk of providing bad solutions due to evolutionary unbalance between species. On the other hand, in the solution-test problems, evolutionary unbalance does not appear in any strategies and the strategies using information about competition results are efficient in solution quality. The experimental results indicate that the tournament competition can progress an evolutionary arms race and then is successful from the viewpoint of evolutionary computation.

네트워크의 효율성과 경쟁 전략에 관한 연구 (The Efficiency of Networks and Competitive Strategies)

  • This paper attempts to provide an overview of relationship between the characteristics of the network and competitive strategies. We review the theoretical background of the efficiency of network, which Is very important for the network-based industries. Network externality, positive feedback effects, bandwagon effects, economies of scale, economies of scope in network-base businesses are reviewed. Various network situations, including interconnection, and strategies are also discussed. In this purpose, simple but meaningful examples and cases are used to show the economic goals and means of network competition strategies. We try to link network strategies to the generic strategies and coopetition suggested by Porter and by Brandenburger and Nalebuff respectively. Since this study is an exploratory research, further studies on more complex network situation in the real work can be executed with taking advantage of this effort.

부분 경쟁 균형 및 균형의 특성 (Locally Competitive Equilibrium and Properties)

  • I study a solution concept which preserves the nice Nash equilibrium properties of two-person zero-sum games, and define a locally competitive equilibrium which is characterized by a saddle point with respect to the coordinates of strategies. I show that a locally competitive equilibrium shares the properties of uniqueness of equilibrium payoffs, interchangeablity of equilibrium strategies and convexity of the equilibrium set.

  • Increasing competitive pressure, the constantly accelerating transformation of the economy, and a stronger focus on value creation have initiated the search for sustainable sources of competitive advantage in organizations. In this context, the concept of treating organizational knowledge as a valuable strategic resource has become quite popular recently. Knowledge has become the most critical component in the struggle for sustained competitive advantage and knowledge management (KM) has also been described for its possible role in creating sustainable competitive advantage. In order to examine the contingency between KM resources, KM strategies, and KM performance of organizations, a contingency model of KM, which is based on resource-based theory as well as knowledge-based theory, is developed from the information systems and strategic management literature in order to assess the following questions: (i) What KM resources affect the organization's KM strategies? (ii) Is there a relationship between KM strategies and organizational performance enhanced by KM? A detailed exploratory analysis of survey responses from 79 Korean companies provides the following significant findings: (i) This study found support for the proposed contingency model of KM; (ii) The organization's KM strategies are determined by social resources and its capabilities; (iii) An organization with a culture-based KM strategy is more likely to enhance organizational KM performance than an organization with a technology-based KM strategy.

  • 이 연구는 21세기 지식기반사회에서 우리나라 전문도서관ㆍ정보센터가 서비스를 향상하고 조직의 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 방안을 모색하였다. 이를 위해 우선 전문도서관ㆍ정보센터의 특성을 살펴보고 현재 전문도서관ㆍ정보센터가 처한 경쟁환경을 진단하였다. 다음으로 지식경영과 경쟁정보의 관점에서 전문도서관ㆍ정보센터의 경영전략을 모색하였다 나아가 우리 사회의 전문도서관ㆍ정보센터 현실에서 지식경영과 경쟁정보를 활용하기 위한 전략을 제시하였다.

  • Global Electronic Commerce (EC) is currently being pursued by most of the developed countries. Domestically, EC has just started and still has lots of problems to solve in terms of both technology and institutions. EC has a great potential to affect a country's competitive advantage. For EC to be adopted and diffused early, it is necessary to analyze the current status of EC and to establish the strategies to strengthen the competitive position. Therefore, the major objectives of the study are to review the current status of EC in Korea and to propose for both public and private sectors the strategies to strengthen the competitive advantage.

  • 치열한 경쟁상황에서 기업의 성공과 혁신은 경영자에서 비롯되는 신사업 발견능력을 통한 경쟁전략의 수립이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 경영자의 신사업기회 발견능력과 기업성과 사이에 경쟁전략의 매개효과를 실증분석을 통해 규명하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해서 전국의 대기업 사업장과 중소기업 286개의 기업 자료를 대상으로 자료를 수집하고 구조모델에 의한 분석을 실시하였다. 실증분석 결과 발견능력 중 실험하기와 연관시키기가 경쟁전략을 강화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 발견능력 맥락에서는 원가우위 전략 보다 차별화 전략이 기업성과에 미치는 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 경쟁 전략의 매개효과는 실험하기와 기업성과 사이에 강하게 나타났다.
