LiDAR systems provide dense and accurate topographic information. A pre-requisite to achieving the potential accuracy of LiDAR is having a proper system calibration, which aims at estimating all the systematic errors in the system measurements and the mounting parameters relating the different components. This paper presents a rigorous and two approximate methods for LiDAR system calibration. The rigorous approach makes use of the LiDAR equation and the system raw measurements. The approximate approaches utilize simplified LiDAR equations using some assumptions, which allow for less strict requirements regarding the raw measurements. The first presented approximate method, denoted as quasi-rigorous, assumes that we are dealing with a vertical platform (i.e., small pitch and roll angles). This method requires time-tagged point cloud and trajectory position data. The second approximate method, denoted as simplified, assumes that we are dealing with parallel strips, vertical platform, and minor terrain elevation variations compared to the flying height above ground. Such method can be performed using the LiDAR point cloud only. Experimental results using a real dataset, whose characteristics deviate to some extent from the utilized assumptions in the approximate methods, are presented to provide a comparative analysis of the outcome from the introduced methods.

Around the world, there is an increasing interest in Digital Twin cities. Although geospatial data is critical for building a digital twin city, currently-established spatial data cannot be used directly for its implementation. Integration of geospatial data is vital in order to construct and simulate the virtual space. Existing studies for data integration have focused on data transformation. The conversion method is fundamental and convenient, but the information loss during this process remains a limitation. With this, standardization of the data model is an approach to solve the integration problem while hurdling conversion limitations. However, the standardization within indoor space data models is still insufficient compared to 3D building and city models. Therefore, in this study, we present a comparative analysis of data models commonly used in indoor space modeling as a basis for establishing a generic indoor space feature model. By comparing five models of IFC (Industry Foundation Classes), CityGML (City Geographic Markup Language), AIIM (ArcGIS Indoors Information Model), IMDF (Indoor Mapping Data Format), and OmniClass, we identify essential elements for modeling indoor space and the feature classes commonly included in the models. The proposed generic model can serve as a basis for developing further indoor feature models through specifying minimum required structure and feature classes.
This manuscript illustrates the comparative study between ARIMA and Exponential Smoothing modeling to develop forest fire forecasting system using different weather parameters. In this paper, authors have developed the most suitable and closest forecasting models like ARIMA and Exponential Smoothing techniques using different weather parameters. Authors have considered the extremes of the Wind speed, Radiation, Maximum Temperature and Deviation Temperature of the Summer Season form March to June month for the Ranchi Region in Jharkhand. The data is taken by own resource with the help of Automatic Weather Station. This paper consists a deep study of the effect of extreme values of the different parameters on the weather fluctuations which creates forest fires in the region. In this paper, the numerical illustration has been incorporated to support the present study. Comparative study of different suitable models also incorporated and best fitted model has been tested for these parameters.
Brebbia's model has been analyzed to develop the appropriate waterworks management system in Korea, and compared with the conventional models such as EPANET, WaterCad, and InfoWorks. The hydraulic theory of the models was analyzed. Each model's numerical techniques, required parameters, input data and operational methodologies, restrictions, practical applicability and other aspects were investigated. In order to check the validity of Brebbia model, the comparative analysis with EPANET, WaterCAD, and InfoWorks models was performed for linear and nonlinear cases. To find out advantages and disadvantages of each model, the modeling was performed for a simple network and for more complicated A city waterworks system, and the three models applicability was examined. Finally, optimal modeling technique and a model suitable for the use in Korea was suggested, and the problems related to present projects of waterworks management system in Korea were analyzed.
Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT, EC 2.1.1.6) is an S-adenosylmethionine (SAM, AdoMet) dependent methyltransferase, and is related to the functions of the neurotransmitters in various mental processes, such as Parkinson’s disease. COMT inhibitors represent a new class of antiparkinson drugs, when they are coadministered with levodopa. Based on x-ray structure of rat COMT (rCOMT), the three dimensional
structure of human COMT (hCOMT) was constructed by comparative homology modeling using MODELLER. The catalytic site of these two proteins showed subtle differences, but these differences are important to determine the characterization of COMT inhibitor. Ligand docking study is carried out for complex of hCOMT and COMT inhibitors using AutoDock. Among fifteen inhibitors chosen from world patent, nine models were energetically favorable. The average value of heavy atomic RMSD was 1.5 $\AA$. Analysis of ligand-protein binding model implies that Arg201 on hCOMT plays important roles in the interactions with COMT inhibitors. This study may give insight to develop new ways of antiparkinson drug.
As unemployment rates and concerns about turnover keep growing, the need for information is also increasing. In these situations, the job reviews which share information about the company catch people's attention because they are usually created by people who worked at the company. The development of SNS and mobile environments has led to an increase in the web services that provide job reviews. For example, Jobplanet is a job review service in Korea, and Glassdoor.com offers a similar service in the US. Despite this attention, however, research utilizing job reviews is insufficient. This paper asks whether there are differences in ratios of job satisfaction factors by industry, using LDA topic modeling and co-occurrence analysis to explore the differences. Through the results of LDA, we find that the ratios of job satisfaction factors are similar by industry. At the same time, the results of co-occurrence analysis show that the co-occurrence frequency of some job satisfaction factors appears high: pay and welfare, balance of work and life, company culture. We expect that the result of this research will be helpful in comparative analysis of job satisfaction factors by industry. Furthermore, in this paper we suggest how to use the job review data in organizational behavior research.
Tuberculosis is a major health problem in humans because of its multidrug resistance and discovering new treatments for this disease is urgently required. The synthesis of isoprenoids in Mycobacterium tuberculosis has been reported as an interesting pathway to target. In this context, 2C-methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway of M. tuberculosis has drawn attention. The MEP pathway begins with the condensation of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and pyruvate forming 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate (DXP) which is catalyzed by 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate synthase (DXS). As there is no X-ray structure was reported for this target, comparative modeling was used to generate the three dimensional structure. The structure was further validated by PROCHECK, VERIFY-3D, PROSA, ERRAT and WHATIF. Molecular docking studies was performed with the substrate (Thiamine pyrophosphate) and the reported inhibitor 2-methyl-3-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-4H-pyrazolol[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7-one) against the developed model to identify the crucial residues in the active site. This study may further be useful to provide structure based drug design.

Active sites and substrate bindings of 1-aminoxyclopropane-1-carboxylate oxidase (MD-ACO1) catalyzing the oxidative conversion of ACC to ethylene have been determined based on site-directed mutagenesis and comparative modeling methods. Molecular modeling based on the crystal structure of Isopenicillin N synthase (IPNS) provided MD-ACO1 structure. MD-ACO1 protein folds into a compact jelly roll shape, consisting of 9 ${\alpha}$-helices, 10 ${\beta}$-strands and several long loops. The MD-ACO1/ACC/Fe(II)/Ascorbate complex conformation was determined from automated docking program, AUTODOCK. The MD-ACO1/Fell complex model was consistent with well known binding motif information (HIS177-ASP179-HIS234). The cosubstrate, ascorbate is placed between iron binding pocket and Arg244 of MD-ACO1 enzyme, supporting the critical role of Arg244 for generating reaction product. These findings are strongly supported by previous biochemical data as well as site-directed mutagenesis data. The structure of enzyme/substrate suggests the structural mechanism for the biochemical role as well as substrate specificity of MD-ACO1 enzyme.
Bacillus halodurans O-methyltransferase (BhOMT) is a S-adenosylmethionine (SAM or AdoMet) dependent methyltransferase. Three dimensional structure of the BhOMT bound to S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine (SAH or AdoHcy) has been determined by comparative homology modeling. BhOMT has 40% sequence identity with caffeoyl-CoA 3-O-methyltransferase (CCoAOMT) from alfalfa. Based on x-ray structure of CCoAOMT, three dimensional structure of BhOMT was determined using MODELLER. The substrate binding sites of these two proteins showed slight differences, but these differences were important to characterize the substrate of BhOMT. Automated docking study showed that four flavonoids, quercetin, fisetin, myricetin, and luteolin which have two hydroxyl groups simultaneously at 3'- and 4'-position in the B-ring and structural rigidity of Cring resulting from the double bond characters between C2 and C3, were well docked as ligands of BhOMT. These flavonoids form stable hydrogen bondings with K211, R170, and hydroxyl group at 3'-position in the Bring has stable electrostatic interaction with Ca2+ ion in BhOMT. This study will be helpful to understand the biochemical function of BhOMT as an O-methyltransferase for flavonoids.
This paper presents comparative studies of reliability analysis and meta-modeling using the sampling method of Monte Carlo simulation for the structure design of an automatic ocean salt collector (AOSC). The thickness sizing variables of structure members are considered as random variables. Probabilistic performance functions are selected from strength performances evaluated via the finite element analysis of an AOSC. The sampling methods used in the comparative studies are simple random sampling and Sobol sequences with varied numbers of sampling. Approximation methods such as the Kriging model is applied to the meta-model generation. Reliability performances such as the probability failure and distribution are compared based on the variation of the sampling method of Monte Carlo simulation. The meta-modeling accuracy is evaluated for the Kriging model generated from the Monte Carlo simulation and Sobol sequence results. It is discovered that the Sobol sequence method is applicable to not only to the reliability analysis for the structural design of marine equipment such as the AOSC, but also to Kriging meta-modeling owing to its high numerical efficiency.
