  • Entrepreneurship is considered as the main leadership creating enterprises and employment. However, in Korea empirical studies linking Korean entrepreneurial performances with her characteristics are rarely in existence. Current study focuses on Korean entrepreneurs in manufacturing, construction and other technologically intensive (MCOT henceforth) industries compared to entrepreneurs in service and other technologically less intensive (SOT henceforth) industries and to professional/technical wage workers and examines effects of human capital, demographic, and risk-taking characteristics on earnings. Education premium is higher for entrepreneurs in MCOT industries than for professional/technical workers, even though science and engineering diploma pays better in the latter, and that concentration in college causes more selection into the latter occupational family. In terms of education premium and effects of other characteristics SOT industry entrepreneurship and self-employment appear to be lower grade occupational families, even though there appear to be significant comparative advantages working in their selection.

  • Comparative analysis of driving inverters for piezo-electric transformer (PT) is performed and the suit- able drive circuit for portable devices such as personal digital assistants (PDA) is chosen with the experiment in this paper. As a result, a single-switch inverter with a small two winding reactor is chosen, and then the advantages of this method are clarified. It is also confirmed that the driving inverter with this method enables to realize a stabilized AC 400v output and 82% power efficiency from DC 3V input under the conditions of the variations of load current or input voltage from the experiments. • The problem of assigning customers to satellite channels is a difficult combinatorial optimization problem and is NP-complete. For this combinatorial optimization problem, standard optimization methods take a large computation time and so genetic algorithms (GA) and ant colony optimization (ACO) can be used to obtain the best and/or optimal assignment of customers to satellite channels. In this paper, we present a comparative study of GA and ACO to this problem. Various issues related to genetic algorithms approach to this problem, such as solution representation, selection methods, genetic operators and repair of invalid solutions are presented. We also discuss an ACO for this problem. In ACO methodology, three strategies, ACO with only ranking, ACO with only max-min ant system (MMAS), and ACO with both ranking and MMAS, are considered. A comparison of these two approaches (i,e., GA and ACO) with the standard optimization method is presented to show the advantages of these approaches in terms of computation time.

  • "Trust" becomes a focal issue in e-business. Unlike traditional business environment, virtual situation requires new trust-ensuring mechanism other than face-to-face meetings and other related means of confirmation. Many countries are trying to foster trust services industry in order to increase e-business transactions and activities. This paper compares and contrasts these countries' policies on trust services. Conclusions of this comparative research includes: (1) trust services industry will be tightly integrated horizontally and increase their scope vertically towards trust in business sense over and beyond the mere technical level trust, (2) necessity of reciprocal trust authentication exchange is calling for an international standard in a near future, and (3) two different types of policies are under development: government-led and industry-led. Advantages and disadvantages of different approaches are presented with details of legal implications and structures of operations.

  • This paper proposed the wind turbine simulator for comparative study of the MPPT controls. The development of this wind turbine simulator is based on the torque controlled induction motor. The torque reference is obtained from a mathematical model of wind turbine whereas the inputs are rotor speed, wind speed and fixed-value of pitch angle. By using this wind turbine simulator, the real wind is not needed. Wind speed information can be stored and regenerated anytime. Hence it is possible to apply the same wind speed condition to different MPPT controls. With the same wind speed condition, it can fairly compare the advantages and disadvantages of the MPPT controls. The proposed wind turbine simulator is verified through PSIM simulation.

  • A comprehensive research must be conducted on manufacturing techniques such as patterns and sewing, with the understanding of material properties to satisfy consumers' emotions with a strong fashion trend orientation. Physical and emotional characteristics may change depending on the characteristics of the material, and the overall silhouette and feeling of the garment can change depending on how sewing is conducted. To examine the completeness of a finished garment depending on different kinds of clothing material, this study fabricated an actual garment and a 3D virtual garment as well using 3D CAD IMAGE SYSTEM (CLO 3D, DC Suite, etc.) for a comparative analysis. These two methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. This study selected five of the most representative clothing materials and conducted a comparative analysis on appearance differences between actual clothing and virtual clothing by material. Additionally, the study verified the similarity between actual clothing and virtual clothing by comparing their physical properties by material, and evaluated the objectivity and accuracy of the reproducibility of material properties of virtual clothing.

  • In this study, we made a comparative study of backpropagation neural network and probabilistic neural network and bayesian classifier and perceptron as shape recognition algorithm of welding flaws. For this purpose, variables are applied the same to four algorithms. Here, feature variable is composed of time domain signal itself and frequency domain signal itself, Through this process, we confirmed advantages/disadvantages of four algorithms and identified application methods of few algorithms.

  • The simulation study shows that the rank transform test has relatively superior power advantages over the parametric analysis of variance test in many cases for a $2^3$ factorial design, particularly with heavy-tailed distributions of the error terms. However the rank transform test should be cautiously used when all main effects and interactions related to a testing effect are possibly present at the same time.

  • The choice of economic development over environmental protection has been used to explain the decline in the quality of the environment in developing countries. The authors reject this explanation and propose a theory of negligence to explain this decline. They point to the advantages of environmental impact assessments in dealing with the problem of negligence and presents case studies from four countries. Organizational models for Environmental Impact Assessments in Developing Countries are proposed as useful policy measures.
