  • Recently a number of social surveys on community response to environmental noises have been conducted. Since standardized noise annoyance scales were needed to compare the results from various areas. ICBEN(International Commission on Biological of Noise) Team 6 planned a international joint study and constructed comparable standardized noise annoyance scales using the same method. In Korea the survey was conducted in four areas such as Seoul, Taejon, Taegu and Kwangju. About 100 subjects participated in each area approximately. The 21 adverbs were first in the carly survey, and five verbal annoyance modifiers were finally constructed as follows; 1(Jeonhyo), 2(Jokm), 3(Bikyojerk)m, 4(Ajoo), 5(Umcheongnage)

  • For the purpose of finding if aircraft noise annoyance response is affected to variables when noise survey is performed, the questionnaire survey is conducted around the Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, Republic of Korea. This residential area is exposed to the aircraft noise and road traffic noise, simultaneously. Research areas are classified according to three different aircraft noise exposure levels expressed in WECPNL, under 75, between 75 and 80, and above 80 WECPNL, on aircraft noise map. The 7-step numerical magnitude with verbal category scales is used to measure the annoyance level. This surrey suggests that aircraft noise annoyance is not affected to an important extent by other noise sources (road traffic noise, community noise) and demographic variables (sex, age, education, occupation, dwelling type, length of residence). Aircraft noise annoyance would be related to complaint activity which is one of attitudinal variables.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze whether or not, if a community social service center was affiliated with a governing body running other community social service centers, the center would have better organizational performance in comparing to an independently running center. Data was collected from a nationwide mailed and self-administered survey, which 237 centers out of 343 community social service centers responded. Even if, the response rate was 72%, 218 centers were finally analyzed due to the weakness of reliability and incompleteness. By the way, measurement of organizational performance as the dependent variable has been substituted of the results of nationwide organizational evaluation project as the secondary data. One of findings is that 68% of 218 responding centers appeared to be affiliated with a governing body which running more than three other centers, while 41% being affiliated with a body which running more than five other centers. However, a logistic regression analysis which using organizational performance as the dependent variable, has failed to verify the hypothesis that a center which affiliated with a governing body running other centers has better organizational performance when comparing to an independent center. The researcher assumes that a part of governing bodies has better performance and improves competitiveness while the other larger part of them pursues simple organizational growth. Thus, this situation made that the overall evaluation of being affiliated with a large governing body was not positive.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze university students' perception of service quality attributes in residence hall foodservice. Questionnaires were hand delivered to 1,210 university students residing in a residence hall. A total of 1,011 was usable, resulting in an 83.6% response rate. The survey was conducted between October, 1998 and May, 1999. A statistical data analysis was completed using the SAS/Win 6.12 for Descriptive Analysis, $X^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, Spearman Correlation, and Common factor Analysis, and Importance- Performance Analysis(IPA) was completed. Significant negative correlations between importance and performance were found with 'abundance of foods'(p < 0.001), 'discontent handling'(p < 0.001), and 'availability of new menus'(p < 0.01). factors including food, menu, sanitation, atmosphere, facilities, employee's attitude, and convenience were rearranged and a new dimension was created with the service. Employee's attitude and service factors received the highest scores in customer perception of importance and performance. Food, menu, and convenience factors were included in Quadrant A. female students had significantly higher importance mean scores than males, while males had significantly higher Performance mean scores. • The purpose of this study is to identify the transformational or transactional leadership styles of Korean dietitians. The study was completed with Korean dietitians (n = 268, $67\%$ response) using mail survey. The leadership styles were divided into transformational (including charisma, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration) and transactional (contingent reward, management by exception) leadership found in the several literature. Overall, the score of Korean dietitians' transactional leadership was higher than that of the transformational leadership (p < .05). Among three sub-dimensions of the transformational leadership styles, the score of 'individualized consideration' was higher than 'charisma' and 'intellectual stimulation'. Between two sub-dimensions of the transactional leadership styles, Korean dietitians used more 'management-by-exception' than 'contingent reward'. ANOVA results suggested that the transformational leadership was more likely to be used by the younger dietitians, while the transactional leadership was more likely to be used by the older dietitians (p < .05). Data showed that dietitians having 3-6 year dietetic experience used more transformational leadership than other experienced dietitians (p < .05). It was also found that the Korean dietitians' leadership styles were influenced by the type of dietetic practice area. Data showed that 'charisma', 'intellectual stimulation', 'individualized consideration' and 'contingent reward' were more likely to be used by Korean dietitians from school than by dietitians from health. care and industry (p < .05). This study will be useful for dietitians to guide the application of appropriate leadership style in order to increase employees' job satisfaction as well as organizational performance. • Background: We determined the differences in awareness of myocardial infarction and stroke according to the presence or absence of diabetes mellitus in the community. Methods: The 2018 Community Health Survey identified 20,812 people with diabetes mellitus aged 40-79 years. Using 1:1 matching by propensity score, 20,812 people without diabetes mellitus but with similar sociodemographic characteristics were selected as a comparison. Outcome variables were awareness of early symptoms of myocardial infarction and stroke and awareness of coping strategies in case of occurrence. Results: There was no significant difference between nondiabetic and diabetic people in terms of recognizing all early symptoms of myocardial infarction (nondiabetic, 42.7%; diabetic, 43.0%; p=0.43) and stroke (nondiabetic, 49.4%; diabetic, 49.4%; p=0.91). In addition, no significant difference was found between nondiabetic and diabetic people in the proportion of knowing correct emergency response to myocardial infarction (nondiabetic, 84.6%; diabetic, 84.4%; p=0.56) and stroke (nondiabetic, 81.3%; diabetic, 81.4%; p=0.77). Conclusion: Since people with diabetes are at greater risk of cardiovascular disease than the general public, it is important to lower the risk of disability and death by improving their awareness of early symptoms and correct emergency response to myocardial infarction and stroke.

  • Backgrounds: Patient counseling has been forced since June. 19, 2014. Prior to this, there was no study to try to standardize medication counseling to improve quality. Purpose: This study was to investigate satisfaction level and comprehension level between the pharmacist group and the patient group about standardized medication counseling sheet. Methods: Questionnaires to assess standardized patient counseling sheet were posted at online survey software (Qualtrics) to pharmacists who worked at community pharmacy and patients who had visited community pharmacy before. Results: Three hundred thirty five patients and three hundred nineteen pharmacists were responded to the questionnaire (Response rate: 72.9%). More than half of each group were satisfied with standardized medication counseling sheets 'for the general public', 'for the pregnant women and nursing mothers', 'for the chronic patient', and 'for the aged' and patient group were more satisfied than pharmacist group. Similarly, more than half of each group comprehended with the medication counseling sheets 'for the general public', 'for the pregnant women and nursing mothers', 'for the chronic patient', and 'for the aged'. Patient group tended to expect longer patient counseling time per one drug than pharmacist group. Also, the majority of both groups wanted to provide standardized medication counseling sheets constantly and extend for all drugs. Conclusion: Both groups were satisfied and comprehended standardized medication counseling sheets, and agreed to expand standardized medication counseling sheets to all drugs. So, it is necessary to build the standardized medication counseling of all drugs.
