This paper is a qualitative and quantitative study. The main purpose of the paper is to diagnose what makes English communication difficult at the Korean EFL adult level. In order to obtain data, this study employed interviews and a questionnaire. We identified thirty three factors blocking pathways to oral communication. Qualitative analysis repeatedly revealed patterns such as lack of grammar, lack of vocabulary, lack of background knowledge, and peer pressure, but quantitative analysis yielded somewhat different results: lack of colloquial expressions, lack of vocabulary, lack of various topics, problems in the educational system, difficulty in using existing knowledge, and lack of grammar. Findings which were common to both qualitative and quantitative analyses suggest that lack of linguistic knowledge and lack of background knowledge are major barriers learners encounter in communication. On the basis of the results, suggestions are made for overcoming these barriers.

This study investigates effective models of team teaching in Korean middle school classrooms based upon a questionnaire survey and two English listening tests. The data from 349 first year middle school students from 3 different middle schools were collected and compared between team teaching (TT) types in terms of participants' background language learning methods and their opinions about TT. The findings of the present study indicate that students appear to have different opinions about TT according to the TT types. Also the results of the English listening tests between students who took TT and those who didn't take TT show significant differences between TT groups. This study gives both native English teachers (NETs) and Korean English teachers (KETs) the perspectives about effective TT type and the opportunities that both types of teachers could reconsider their TT in order to develop students' English communicative competence more successfully.

This study was performed to develop a task-based English lesson plan. The study reviewed the background theories needed to accomplish the study purpose; types of learning, current trends in English teaching, and the task-based teaching. A frame for the task-based English lesson was developed as the result of this study. An actual task-based lesson plan was made after the frame for the task-based English lesson. The author presented task-based English lesson plans at English education conferences, and applied them to pre-teacher training and in-service trainings for English teachers. It is concluded that the task-based English lesson plan was very effective in enhancing English communicative competence and that the pre-teachers and teachers were satisfied with the lesson plans. It is hoped that more teaching material will be developed based on this task-based English lesson plan.

Factors affecting foreign language learning task are diverse in nature due to the different social and cultural backgrounds so that learners have to somehow use strategies and expressions to adjust diverse factors to their learning environments. The main purpose of this paper is to show how important NNS vs. NNs interaction through CCDL can be in their enhancement of English proficiency by giving examples from their chatting conversation(written conversation) data collected for over two semesters. Chatting as a means of synchronous communication interaction between students from two different cultural backgrounds can act as a predictor of foreign language achievement. Chatting and Telemeet activities have their own advantages in enhancing communicative competence when learning English. By engaging in these synchronous communication activities learners of English from different cultural backgrounds can acquire unique strategies and expressions from which they learn from each other. In short, this study advocates the importance of strategies and patterns foreign language learners can acquire from interaction among culturally different peer groups.

The aims of this study are to analysis the elements associated with a occupational basic competencies of fisheries and maritime high school students. Fisheries & maritime key competencies were defined as the abilities that include the essential knowledge, skills, attitude, and experiences required for the workforce on the fisheries and maritime job condition. This research collected preliminary data from 177 fisheries & maritime high school teachers. Data were analyzed to obtain item quality, reliability and validity analysis. The results of the study were as follows; First, largely, fisheris & maritime key competencies were divided into two parts; basic vocational skills and fisheries-maritime job skills. Second, fisheries & maritime key competencies were consisted of communicative competence, numeracy skills, thinking skills, English communication skills, self-management skills, interpersonal competency, selection & application of alternative, marine technology & information skills, marine consciousness and maritime professional ethics. Third, each key competency consisted of 2-9 sub-competencies.

In the age of technology and information, communicating with people from different cultures is significantly important. Regarding this perspective, communicative competence has been the focus in the EFL educational context. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of using movies in a culture-integrated English reading course at the college level. In order to achieve this purpose, pre- and post-reading comprehension tests, pre- and post-surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted. The results of data analysis showed that using movies in the culture-integrated English reading class positively affected students' interest and confidence towards English reading as well as their reading achievement. In this respect, we suggest that cultural teaching through movies in English classes should be learner-centered so that learners can proactively analyze and understand different cultural backgrounds shown in the movies and build schemas which can be used in their learning process.

The article considers general tendencies in world and education, and also both principles and methods of forming professional, communicative, intercultural competences and in the process of teaching foreign language for professional purposes in the conditions of engineering, economic and other non-linguistic specialties at technical university. The article views some essential issues of this competence including awareness of pedagogical values, the construction of the pedagogical process, pedagogical communication and behavior; pedagogical technology, its essence, structural components, understanding of innovative components of professional activity, requirements for the design and engineering of pedagogical technologies.

수학적 의사소통은 수학 교수 학습 과정에서 학습에 참여하는 사람들 간에 수학적 아이디어를 교환하는데 필수적인 활동이다. 2007년 개정 수학과 교육과정에서는 수학적 의사소통 능력의 신장을 여러 영역에서 명시하고 있다. 이에 따라 편찬된 '고등학교 수학' 18종 교과서에는 의사소통 문제를 다루는 코너가 마련되어 있고, 실제 학교 현장의 교사들은 수학 수업 시간에 어떤 과제를 어떤 방식으로 의사소통을 해야 할지에 대해 알고 싶어 한다. 이렇게 수학적 의사소통이 수학 교육에서 해결해야 할 중요한 문제로 부각되는 시점에서 본 논문은 수학적 의사소통에 대하여 고찰해 보고, 이를 토대로 '고등학교 수학' 교과서에 수록된 의사소통 관련 코너의 내용을 분석하여 유형화하고 나아가 각 유형에 적절한 의사소통 활동을 제시함으로써 차후에 개정될 교과서의 실질적인 의사소통 코너 마련을 위한 정보 및 교사들에게 수학적 의사소통이 활발한 수학 수업을 안내할 수 있는 틀을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

이 연구에서 우리는 아파트 세대 내에 화재발생 시 대피요령에 따른 화재의 불안요인을 낮추며 관리사무소의 관리역량이 안전의식 및 화재대응에 미치는 영향력에 대한 조절효과를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 아파트 거주자의 안전의식 및 관리주체의 인식이 화재대응성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 아파트 거주자의 안전의식 및 관리주체의 인식수준이 높을수록 화재대응성과도 높아짐을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 관리사무소의 관리역량 수준이 높을수록 안전의식 및 관리주체의 인식이 화재대응성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 관리사무소장의 리더십이 높을수록 아파트 거주자의 주거만족도도 높은 경향을 보이고 거주자와의 소통하는 자세가 높을수록 화재대응성과에도 긍정적인 영향이 있음을 의미한다. 마지막으로, 관리사무소 관리역량은 아파트거주자의 안전의식 및 관리주체의 인식수준이 화재대응성과에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 결과는 모형의 R² 값의 변화량이 1단계보다 2단계가 증가하였고 3단계에서는 조절변수의 상호작용 항을 추가함에 따라 단계적으로 증가하였다. 따라서 조절변수인 관리사무소 관리역량은 아파트거주자의 안전의식 및 관리주체의 인식수준이 화재대응성과에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

본 연구는 병원간호사를 대상으로 의료진 간 의사소통 능력과 이직의도 관계에서 자기효능감의 매개효과를 규명하기 위해 실시된 서술적 조사연구이다. 본 연구의 대상자는 일 지역 두 개 대학병원에 근무하는 간호사 208명이었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 23.0을 이용하여 분석하였으며 기술통계, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients correlation을 확인하였다. 또한 자기효능감의 매개효과를 확인하기 위해 Baron & Kenny의 3단계절차를 이용한 multiple regression으로 분석하여 Sobel test로 간접효과를 확인하였다. 연구결과 의사소통 능력과 이직의도 간에 부적상관(r=-.22, p=.001)이 있었으며, 의사소통 능력과 자기효능감 간에는 정적상관(r=.61, p<.001), 자기효능감과 이직의도 간에는 부적상관(r=-.25, <.001)이 있었다. 의사소통 능력과 이직의도의 관계에서 자기효능감의 매개효과는 1단계에서의 의사소통 능력이 이직의도에 미치는 영향은 유의하였지만(${\beta}=-0.22$, p<.001), 3단계에서의 의사소통 능력은 이직의도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않아(${\beta}=-0.11$, p=.194) 의사소통 능력과 이직의도의 관계에서 자기효능감이 유의하게 완전 매개함을 확인하였다(z=-2.15, p=.032). 따라서 본 연구결과 의사소통 능력을 향상시켜 자기효능감을 높여주는 것이 병원 간호사의 이직의도를 줄이는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
