An Propagation Path Analysis for Optimal Position Selection of Microcell Base Station in the Mobile Communication System (이동통신 마이크로셀 기지국의 최적 위치 선정을 위한 전파경로 해석)

  • In the microcell mobile communication, we propose algorithms processing operational disposition to exactly analysis propagation environments from the base station to mobile stations. Algorithms are developed by the triangle analysis method can operate variable propagation paths and reflect numbers. For simulation, we suppose that mobile stations are located in the shadow region of the line of sight and the area of the non-line of sight sloping against the line of sight area at variable angles. By analyzing the results of simulation using proposed algorithms, we can be applied to the optimal position selection of the base station in the microcell mobile communication.

A Study on the Propagation Prediction Model of Wireless Communication in an Urban Area (도심지 무선통신의 전파예측모델에 관한 연구)

  • Wireless communication in an urban area, the accurate prediction of wave propagation characteristics are very important to determine communication service areas, select optimal base-stations, and design cells, etc. The CCIR model is a propagation prediction model using a shadowing by the buildings in an urban area. This model represent the shadowing rate by the means of the effect of shadowing between base-station and mobile unit in a shaped linear plane. But, This one occurred a lot of prediction error because it did not consider that density area by the buildings and terrain configurations by the hill and mountain on Line-Of-Sight. In this thesis, an improved propagation prediction model is proposed to reduce prediction error. We presents a new equation, which is using the SAS. This equation is associated with the shadow height by the buildings that considers the topology and the number of blocks that can affect the building shadow in the Line-Of-Sight. We measure the received electrical field level of base-station that high density area, medium density area, and low density area, and then compare and analysis the result to prediction of CCIR model and proposed model. The result compared with the measurement, the proposed model has the improvement of 9.71dB in a high density area, 9.66dB in a medium density area, and 4.02dB in a low density area better than the CCIR model.   • When the mountain accident occurred, the accident victims should inform anyone of information of the location and accident situation rapidly. But if you are in the radio shadow area where you cannot use GPS, 3G/4G, and wireless communication, you can't inform someone your accidents. In this paper, we suggest the emergency rescue request notification service in situation that victims can't report their accidents. This service is to send request message for rescue in radio shadow area, in mountain accident, by BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy).

  • The DGPS systems that is a GPS augmentation system were installed for ocean- and land-service. The ocean-based reference station of 11 site and the land-based reference station of 6 sites are operating for ocean- and land-service. Although the land-based reference stations provide the output power of 500W, the service shadow regions are occurred due to mountain lands and building area. In this paper, the service coverages for land-based reference stations are analyzed in conditions of output power enhancements of reference station. The service shadow areas are deduced from service coverages of land-based reference stations and ocean-based reference stations. The medium frequency-band wave propagation models are considered as DGPS wave propagation model. The service coverages are analyzed by considering the compensated ground surface-conductivity.

  • In this paper, facial feature areas in user picture are created by facial feature points extracted by ASM(Active Shape Model). In a existing virtual make-up application, users manually select a few features that are exactly. Users are uncomfortable with this method. We propose a virtual makeup application using ASM that does not require user input. In order to express a natural makeup, the modified alpha blendings for each cosmetic are used to blend skin color with cosmetic color. The Virtual makeup application was implemented to apply Foundation, Blush, Lip Stick, Lip Liner, Eye Pencil, Eye Liner and Eye Shadow.

  • Even if ICS(Interference Cancellation System) repeater is used in wireless communication system, it has the disadvantage that it must have enough distance between Donor and Service antenna to be isolated. In this paper, new ICS repeater integrated antenna with high insolation characteristics is designed. The proposed antenna is fabricated for 800MHz and measured. Bandwidth and gain are optimized by changing the stub lengths near main patch and power divider, and also by changing the size of parasitic patch. The fabricated antenna has a return loss less than -13 dB, a gain over 3 dBi, and an isolation between the donor and the server antennas less than -56 dB from 824~894 MHz for CDMA mobile communication. Therefore, the proposed antenna structure can be applied to eliminate the shadow area and to expand the coverage area for any other wireless communication bands.

  • Recently, navigation system is used to inform users of vehicle location and driving direction, moving distance and so on. This navigation uses GPS sensor for current location determination. The GPS sensor will determinate current coordinates by using triangulation algorithm. This characteristic bring about that the GPS signal is not available in the shadow region such as tunnel and urban canyon. Moreover, Even though the signal is available, inherent positional error rate of the GPS often results in the dislocation of vehicle. To solve, these problems, a new positioning system is proposed in the paper. The System utilizes geomagnetic sensors of smartphone, speed information of CAN of vehicle though bluetooth and WiFi APs for GPS shadow area. The experimental test shadows that the proposed system using multiple data is able to determine the position of vehicle in GPS shadow areas.

Estimating Indoor Radio Environment Maps with Mobile Robots and Machine Learning

  • Wireless communication technology is becoming increasingly prevalent in smart factories, but the rise in the number of wireless devices can lead to interference in the ISM band and obstacles like metal blocks within the factory can weaken communication signals, creating radio shadow areas that impede information exchange. Consequently, accurately determining the radio communication coverage range is crucial. To address this issue, a Radio Environment Map (REM) can be used to provide information about the radio environment in a specific area. In this paper, a technique for estimating an indoor REM usinga mobile robot and machine learning methods is introduced. The mobile robot first collects and processes data, including the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and location estimation. This data is then used to implement the REM through machine learning regression algorithms such as Extra Tree Regressor, Random Forest Regressor, and Decision Tree Regressor. Furthermore, the numerical and visual performance of REM for each model can be assessed in terms of R2 and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE).

  • Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is a technology component for long-term evolution-advanced (LTE-A). In D2D communication, users in close proximity to each other can communicate directly without going through a base station; such direct communication can improve spectral efficiency. Although D2D communication brings improvement in spectral efficiency, it also causes interference to the cellular network as a result of spectrum sharing. In particularly, D2D communication can generate interference for each D2D pair when the common wireless medium in a co-located limited area is accessed. Even though the interference management for between the D2D pair and cellular networks has been proposed, the interference reducing methods have still not been fully studied for the D2D pairs. In this paper, we investigate the problem of D2D pair coexistence in which interference is considered between D2D pairs. Using a signal to interference model for a target D2D pair, we provide an analysis of the aggregated throughput of a dense D2D network. For a target D2D pair, we assume that the desired signal and interference signals obey multipath fading and shadow fading. Through analysis, we demonstrate the effect of cluster size such as the number of D2D pairs and the size of the considered area on the network performance. The analytical results are compared with computer simulations. Our work can be used for a rough guideline for controlling the system throughput in a dense D2D network environment.

Driving Vehicle Detection and Distance Estimation using Vehicle Shadow (차량 그림자를 이용한 주행 차량 검출 및 차간 거리 측정)

  • Recently, the warning system to aid drivers for safe driving is being developed. The system estimates the distance between the driver's car and the car before it and informs him of safety distance. In this paper, we designed and implemented the collision warning system which detects the car in front on the actual road situation and measures the distance between the cars in order to detect the risk situation for collision and inform the driver of the risk of collision. First of all, using the forward-looking camera, it extracts the interest area corresponding to the road and the cars from the image photographed from the road. From the interest area, it extracts the object of the car in front through the analysis on the critical value of the shadow of the car in front and then alerts the driver about the risk of collision by calculating the distance from the car in front. Based on the results of detecting driving cars and measuring the distance between cars, the collision warning system was designed and realized. According to the result of applying it in the actual road situation and testing it, it showed very high accuracy; thus, it has been verified that it can cope with safe driving.
