  • The evolution of modern imaging modalities, followed by the rapid development of computer technology has introduced many new features in the communication networks used in medical facilities. Since it is very important to keep patient's record accurately, the ability to exchange medical data securely over the communication network is essential for any medical information. In this paper, therefore, we introduce some problems which occur from digitizing medical images such as MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT (Computed Tomography), CR(Computed Radiography), etc., and then we propose a authentication mechanism for medical image verification using secret watermark images.

  • Recently, due to the development of network environment, the internet market has been expanding, so it is necessary to standardize the data format and API to exchange information among objects. Therefore, MPEG (Moving Picture Expert Group), an international standardization organization, is establishing the MPEG-IoMT (ISO/IEC 23093) project to standardize the Internet of Things. MPEG-IoMT establishes Core Experiment (CE) and discusses overall data exchange such as data exchange procedure, markup language and communication method. In this paper, core experiments 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the core experiments of MPEG-IoMT will be discussed. The performance information of the sensor, the sensor data, the performance information of the driver, and the exchange procedure of the control command are explained and the exchange of the media additional data is discussed. We compare the markup language and communication method through experiment.

  • This paper proposes an interference recognition-based resource allocation (IaRA) scheme for very high frequency (VHF) data exchange-terrestrial (VDE-TER) to ensure the reliability of automatic identification system (AIS) message transmission in a coastal environment with dense vessels. To this end, IaRA conducts channel selection and slot allocation based on scheduling information obtained through monitoring VHF data exchange system (VDES) channels. The simulation results show that IaRA achieved an 8.79% higher packet delivery ratio (PDR) and a 9.69% lower channel interference ratio (CIR) compared to the VDE-TER resource allocation scheme of the existing VDES standard.

  • Social interaction becomes increasingly complicated, sophisticated and specialized. Popular methods of communication has expanded from face-to-face to the use of IT media, as the amount of needs for remote communication increases rapidly as well as the scope of the contents of communication. The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the relationship between the use of IT media and the level of interpersonal trust, and further examine the differences in interpersonal trust across the use of different IT media. A questionnaire survey was performed against 193 individuals in the age group between 20s and 40s, which is considered most active group of IT media. According to a series of regression analysis, the frequency of mediated information exchange is found to be correlated to the level of interpersonal trust. The effect of the amount of time spent with the media was not significant. We also found that the effects on interpersonal trust differed across the use of different types of communication media.

  • In Network Centric Warfare (NCW) environment, having a tactical communication network which provides high data exchange rate is very important. In the process, Korean Army developed Mobile Subscriber Access Point (MSAP) which is based on the commercial Wireless BroadBand (Wibro). MSAP is a vehicle attached base station which provide high data exchange communication environment in a given area. Thus MSAP can provide high data exchange rate and mobility to accomplish missions in the battlefield more effectively. In this paper, we propose an operational strategy of using MSAP to provide tactical communication network in the battlefield. The idea is to find the optimal location point of the MSAP in the operational area where all the troops in the operational area can be supported by the MSAP with a minimum number of MSAP. Since the current Korean Army's basic idea of using MSAP is just distribute this MSAP to each troop, so by applying our strategy we can save MSAP devices for more flexible operation. We will show our strategy's benefits through the mathematical model and the algorithm of the presented problem.

  • This study was conducted to suggest effective alternatives for human resource management in the foodservice industry by investigating the influence of social exchange on employee empowerment and organizational efficiency, The findings derived from the study are as follows: First, the major components of social exchange, organizational support and the leader-member exchange (LMX), significantly influenced the components of employee empowerment such as signification and self-determination. Secondly, we found that signification and self-determination had a significant impact on the turnover intentions and organizational commitment of the employees, which in turn organizational efficiency. Thirdly, both the employees' turnover intentions and organizational commitment were significantly influenced by the organizational support and the leader-member exchange. These results suggest that it is necessary to have active communication between organizational leaders and members to improve employee empowerment. In other words, employees should acknowledge the meaning and importance of their tasks and support at the organizational level should be provided to ensure employee empowerment.
