  • As the importance of customers has been emphasized, most companies began to operate various CRM strategies to understand and manage customers' needs. The investments that businesses are making are categorized into four areas. The first area of investments is in contact centers and channels to manage the voice of customers. The second area is in loyalty management, target marketing using segmentation, profiling, profitability analysis and targeting. The third one is involved in the measurement of customer satisfaction. The last one is planning to deliver products and services to appropriate customers. Despite the various efforts, it is lowering the efficiency of these investments and interrupting their value creation that these are being operated independently in different departments. All CRM activities of an enterprise should be processed interactively and consistently for a common goal; value creation, to overcome these shortcomings. In this research, we propose CS Road Map that systematizes the four kinds of CRM activities; VOC management, survey activities, loyalty management and planning. Under this road map, these four activities will achieve the improvement of service qualities, customer satisfaction and further value creation. This paper demonstrates the road map that is built for a service industry emphasizing the objectives and strategies of the four categories.

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of functional electrical stimulation (FES) on temporal-spatial gait and the activities of daily living in hemiplegic stroke patients. METHODS: The subjects were 29 hemiplegic stroke patients (57.7 ± 10.3). The patients walked at a self-controlled speed in four states: (1) walking without FES (non-FES), (2) walking with FES on the gluteus medius in the stance phase (GM), (3) walking with FES on the common peroneal nerve and tibialis anterior in the swing phase (PT), (4) walking with both GM and PT. A GAITRite system, Timed-Functional Movements battery, and Timed UP and Go test were used to measure the variables. RESULTS: Significant improvements were observed in all variables of the GM+PT, GM, and PT states compared to the non-FES state (p < .05). There were significant improvements in the GM+PT state compared to GM and PT states (p < .05). Moreover, significant improvements were noted in the single support time on the affected side, backward walking 10ft, and side stepping 10ft on the affected side of the GM state compared to the PT state (p < .05). There were significant improvements in the stride length on the affected side and side stepping 10ft on the unaffected side of the PT state compared to the GM state (p < .05). CONCLUSION: FES is effective in improving the temporal-spatial gait and activities of daily living in hemiplegic stroke patients.

  • In connection with the development of new anticonvulsant agents with a broad spectrum, we reported that N-Cbz-alpha-aminoglutarimides, combining common structures of othe r anticonvulsants such as N-CO-C-N and cyclic imides in a single molecule, showed significant anticonvulsant activities in the MES (maximal electroshock seizure) and PTZ (pentylenetetrazole induced seizure) tests. In these studies, a series of (R) and (S) N-alkyloxycarbonyl-alpha-aminoglutarimides 7a-7e and 8a-8e, which were substituted with various alkyloxycarbonyl group instead of Cbz group, were prepared from the corresponding (R) and (S) N-Cbz-glutamic acid 3 and 4, and were evaluated with their anticonvulsant activities against the MES and PTZ tests, including neurotoxicity, in order to define the effect of N-alkyloxycarbonyl group on the anticonvulsant activities of N-alkyloxycarbonyl-${\alpha}$-aminoglutarimides. Among them, (S)N-4-nitrobenzyloxycarbonyl-${\alpha}$-amino-N-methylglutarimide 8e was the most active in MES ($ED_{50}$=35.6mg/kg, PI=2.7) and PTZ tests ($ED_{50}$=15.6, PI=6.1). Interestingly, (R) and (S) N-4-nitrobenzyloxycarbonyl-${\alpha}$-amino-N-methylglutarimide 7e and 8e and (R) N-phenoxycarbonyl-${\alpha}$-amino-N-methylglutrimide 7d showed significant anti-convulsant activities in both the MES and PTZ tests and other compounds showed anticonvulsant activities in only the PTZ test. In addition, it was found that their anticonvulsant activities were dependent on their stereochemistries and N-substituted alkyloxycarbonyl groups.

  • This study evaluated 26 elderly residents living independently in 4 group homes for their abilities in daily living and analyzed their behaviors of space occupancy and activities of daily living. The aim of the study was to identify the relationships between the physical environments of the group homes and the daily activities of the residents. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) Most residents in the group home considered bathing and cooking to be the most difficult of their living activities. The residents were categorized into "Independent," "Semi-dependent" and "Dependent" groups, on the basis of their ADL and IADL scores, and individual groups were examined. On ADL scorelt was shown, then, that 65.4% of the residents were was independent in ADL, but there was no any significant difference in IADL between the independent, semi-dependent and dependent groups. In addition, there was a difference in ADL and IADL among the groups. The independent group's residents were shown to be independent in ADL and IADL, whereas the but those of the semi-dependent and dependent groups' residents were lower in IADL than in ADL. 2) When their behaviors of space occupancy were examined, it appeared that the independent group showed a different space sharing pattern among individual residents, with a wide range of behavior of space occupancy. Meanwhile, The semi-dependent group mostly shared a common space with simple activities of daily living while no any service low leisure program was provided. However, the dependent group mainly consisted of residents who had a low level of independence in ADL and IADL, so that their behaviors of space occupancy were entirely negative.

  • The growth in the number of single-member households is a critical issue worldwide, especially among the elderly. For those living alone, who may be unaware of their health status or routines that could improve their health, a continuous healthcare monitoring system could provide valuable feedback. Assessing the performance adequacy of activities of daily living (ADL) can serve as a measure of an individual's health status; previous research has focused on determining a person's daily activities and extracting the most frequently performed behavioral patterns using camera recordings or wearable sensing techniques. However, existing methods used to extract common patterns of an occupant's activities in the home fail to address the spatio-temporal dimensions of human activities simultaneously. Though multiple sequence alignment (MSA) offers some advantages - such as inherent containment of the spatio-temporal data in sequence format, and rapid identification of hidden patterns - MSA has rarely been used to extract in-home ADL routines. This research proposes a method to extract a household occupant's ADL routines from a cumulative spatio-temporal data log of occupancy collected using a non-intrusive method (i.e., a tomographic motion detection system). The findings from an occupant's 28-day spatio-temporal activity log demonstrate the capacity of the proposed approach to identify routine patterns of an occupant's daily activities and to reveal the order, duration, and frequency of routine activities. Routine ADL patterns identified from the proposed approach are expected to provide a basis for detecting/evaluating abrupt or gradual changes of an occupant's ADL patterns that result from a physical or mental disorder, and can offer valuable information for home automation applications by enabling the prediction of ADL patterns.

  • Leukocyte common antigen-related phosphatase (LAR) has been considered a promising target for the development of therapeutics for neurological diseases. Here, we report the first example for a successful application of the structure-based virtual screening to identify the novel small-molecule LAR inhibitors. Five of these inhibitors revealed micromolar inhibitory activities with the associated $IC_{50}$ values ranging from 2 to 6 ${\mu}M$. Because the newly identified inhibitors were also screened for having desirable physicochemical properties as a drug candidate, they may serve as a starting point of the structure-activity relationship study to optimize the medical efficacy. Structural features relevant to the stabilization of the new inhibitors in the active site of LAR are discussed in detail.

  • One of the most common communication mechanisms to describe a situation or a process is a story written as an ordered sequence of events or activities. For example, a shop floor supervisor may present the operations of his manufacturing system by describing the processes of manunfacturing a product in his shop. Although IDEF3 is one of the most commonly used methods for describing a business process, but it is not common for a manufacturing process. In this study, we tried to apply IDEF3 for describing a manufacturing process. Problems and suggestions such as selection probability, programmable process modeling, manufacturing resource model were presented.

  • Public sectors around the world utilize social media tools and technologies in their daily activities for a variety of purposes, including disseminating useful information, fostering mass collaboration, and enforcing laws and regulations. A number of social media-based government stage models have emerged to document this use. In this chapter, we conducted a qualitative meta-synthesis of four social media-based government models. These models include 1) the open government maturity model, 2) the social media utilization model, 3) the adoption process for social media, and 4) the social media-based engagement model. The concepts, metaphors, and themes contained in these developmental models are extracted through a series of in-depth semantic analyses of descriptions, resulting in a common frame of reference.
