Brake Juder Analysis for Small Size Bus

  • In this paper, a method to improve judder by changing the front and rear wheel brake force distribution ratio was proposed. ADAMS, a commercial dynamic analysis software was used to model a small size bus and its modeling procedure was explained. By using the ADAMS vehicle model, the judder phenomena of the small bus were analyzed, and based on analysis results, the validity of the improvement method was proposed. Also in order to lessen the problem jubber sensitivity analysis and test results were proposed.

  • The purpose of this study is to apply in various fields of products economically and practically using the characteristic of ash of holed briquette coal in maximum. According to the test results, the cure rate of ash of holed briquette coal is comparatively late. But it has shown nearly same level of physical properities compared with other fillers except hard clay and grey carbon.

  • Usually, bacterial spores are hundreds or thousands of times more resistant to chemical sanitizers than are vegetable bacteria. Consequently, it is hard to assess whether a commercial sterilant, containing hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid as ingredients, has or does not have sporicidal activity under certain conditions using the National Standard Test Method for assessing bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Hence we established alternative the standard test method and requirements to determine whether they are effective in showing at least reduction of $10^3$ in the number of Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633 spores under the required test condition for evaluation of sporicidal activity including verification methodology. This standardized method has proved to be suitable for evaluating effectiveness of commercial sterilants and could be used as Standardization Test Method for assessing sporicidal activity.

The Characteristics of Exhaust Emissions by Durability Test with Biodiesel Fuel (20%) in a Commercial CRDI Diesel Engine (상용 CRDI 디젤기관에서 바이오디젤유 20% 적용시 내구시험에 따른 배기배출물 특성)

  • A CRDI diesel engine used to commercial vehicle was fueled with diesel fuel and 20% biodiesel blended fuel (BDF 20%) and tested at the Seoul-10 mode for 150 hours. Engine dynamometer testing was completed at regularly scheduled intervals to monitor the engine performance and exhaust emissions. To check the engine parts (valve, injector), the engine was inspected after 150 hours running test. It was concluded that there was no unusual deterioration of the engine, or the changes in engine power (below 1.9%), smoke (below 4.1%), NOx (below 3.7%) and durability characteristics in spite of operation of 150 hours run with BDF 20%. The difference of kinetic viscosity for engine oil (before and after durability testing) was below 0.19% at $100^{\circ}C$.

  • In an attempt to test experimental condition of preparing grape powder, grapes having less commercial value was used and tried. With drying method, spray and freeze drying were satisfactory to produce power. Moisture content and odor retention were better by the latter method. Three grape strains stored for 40 days contained more odors than those stored for 5 days. Maltose 90% plus dextrin 10% was suitable for drying support. To increase odror sense, citric acid and vitamin C can be added up to 0.1 and 0.2%, respectively. Considering these conditions, grape complex powder prapared from grape powder 20% comprising drying support, glucose 79.7%, citric acid 0.1%, vitamin C 0.2% with freeze drying was the best by overall evaluation including sensory test. When campbell and neomuscut were mixed by 15:5 or 10:10, sensory evaluation was also ameliorated.

Perceptual Evaluation of Duration Models in Spoken Korean

  • Perceptual evaluation of duration models of spoken Korean was carried out based on the Classification and Regression Tree (CART) model for text-to-speech conversion. A reference set of durations was produced by a commercial text-to-speech synthesis system for comparison. The duration model which was built in the previous research (Chung & Huckvale, 2001) was applied to a Korean language speech synthesis diphone database, 'Hanmal (HN 1.0)'. The synthetic speech produced by the CART duration model was preferred in the subjective preference test by a small margin and the synthetic speech from the commercial system was superior in the clarity test. In the course of preparing the experiment, a labeled database of spoken Korean with 670 sentences was constructed. As a result of the experiment, a trained duration model for speech synthesis was obtained. The 'Hanmal' diphone database for Korean speech synthesis was also developed as a by-product of the perceptual evaluation.

  • Multi-leaf springs are widely used for a major suspension component in many commercial vehicles. The modeling technique of multi-leaf springs is one of the most difficult problems in suspension modeling as the elements have complicated nonlinear characteristics such as a hysteresis behavior due to the friction. In this paper, hysteretic characteristics with the static and dynamic test are modeled and are simulated with three links and joints in MSC.ADAMS. Simulation results showed good agreements with test results. Using this methodology, it is expected that dynamic characteristics of suspension system with multi-leaf spring can be more accurately evaluated in vehicle dynamics.

  • This paper describes experimental investigation on neon refrigeration system using commercial helium compressor. In this paper, neon refrigeration cycle is calculated with assumption of ideal heat exchanger. From analysis, 32.6 K of the lowest temperature and 0.945 of quality after expansion are predicted. Cryogenic heat exchangers for pre cooler and main heat exchanger are designed and fabricated with configuration of tube-in-tube heat exchanger. In experiments, cooling performance test are performed as variation of charging pressure and orifice hole diameter. From experimental results, the lowest temperature of 44.0 K was measured with 500 ${\mu}m$ orifice and 1500 kPa of charging pressure.

  • Six corrosion inhibitors for cooling water use were evaluated by means of a corrosometer in a laboratory bench scale test. A steel probe (Alloy 1020) was exposed and checked for the extent of corrosion in a recirculating water system, changing inhibitors and their concentrations at $40^{\circ}C$. A 95% inhibition was provided at the following concentrations of inhibitors. 50 ppm sodium hexametaphosphate 50 ppm commercial inhibitor A 50 ppm commercial inhibitor B 100 ppm disodium phosphate 200 ppm sodium chromate Sodium silicate was found to be use-less in this test. It was also observed that some inhibitors worked less effectively on the acid-cleaned steel probe.

  • Muffler sound quality of a vehicle has widely been evaluated using commercial softwares. However, the commercial softwares are providing only simple sound quality index. To get better sound quality evaluation method of the muffler, a new approach is suggested based on the subjective sound quality test. The suggested subjective sound quality evaluation method is refined with the fuzzy theory. The developed method is applied for the evaluation of various kinds of vehicle muffler sounds.
