For plastics samples, a method using combustion ion chromatography was selected as a method for rapid low-cost analysis to test whether hazardous substances are contained or not. Using combustion ion chromatography, a verification test for F, Cl and Br compounds generated a linear calibration curve with a correlation coefficient of $r^2$ = 0.999~1.000 in the calibration range from 0.5 to 4.0 mg/kg. The detection limits were found to be 0.005~0.024 mg/kg and quantitative limits were found to be 0.014~0.073 mg/kg. The recoveries of combustion ion chromatography using certified reference material (CRM) were found to be 95.5~104.9%. Based on these results, a proficiency test was conducted together with several laboratories in and out of the country, to make comparative analysis of the results from each laboratory. As a result, the data supported the use of combustion ion chromatography as an effective analysis method to deal with regulations for halogen-free electronic products and for other hazardous substances in the electronic products.

In-house code which simulates the performance of pre-burner in staged-combustion liquid-fueled rocket engine was developed and demonstrated. Chemical reaction of pre-burner was modeled based on analytic algorithm of CEA (Chemical Equilibrium with Applications) and gas dynamics model was incorporated with it. Comparison results between in-house code and CEA have shown small relative errors except at very high or very low O/F ratio. Also the performance curve obtained by in-house code revealed that the calculated values follow the overall trend of real engine (RD-8) performance quite well and at steady-state operation, the deviation became very small.
Fast-time instability is investigated for diffusion flames with Lewis numbers greater than unity by employing the numerical technique called the Evans function method. Since the time and length scales are those of the inner reactive-diffusive layer, the problem is equivalent to the instability problem for the $Li\tilde{n}\acute{a}n#s$ diffusion flame regime. The instability is primarily oscillatory, as seen from complex solution branches and can emerge prior to reaching the upper turning point of the S-curve, known as the $Li\tilde{n}\acute{a}n#s$ extinction condition. Depending on the Lewis number, the instability characteristics is found to be somewhat different. Below the critical Lewis number, $L_C$, the instability possesses primarily a pulsating nature in that the two real solution branches, existing for small wave numbers, merges at a finite wave number, at which a pair of complex conjugate solution branches bifurcate. For Lewis numbers greater than $L_C$, the solution branch for small reactant leakage is found to be purely complex with the maximum growth rate found at a finite wave number, thereby exhibiting a traveling nature. As the reactant leakage parameter is further increased, the instability characteristics turns into a pulsating type, similar to that for L < $L_C$.
The relationship among the flame radiation, NOx emissions, residence time, and global strain rate are examined for turbulent non-premixed jet flames with wide variations in coaxial air conditions. Measurements of NOx emission, flame geometry and flame radiation were made to explain the NOx emission scaling based on global parameters such as flame residence time, global strain rate, and radiant fraction. The overall 1/2-power scaling is observed in coaxial air flames, irrespective of coaxial air conditions, but the degree of deviation from the 1/2-slope curve in each case differs from one another. From the comparison between the results of pure hydrogen flames and those of helium diluted hydrogen flames, it is observed that flame radiation plays a significant role in pure hydrogen flames with coaxial air and the deviation from 1/2-power scaling may be explained in two reasons: the difference in the flame radiation and the difference in jet similarity in coaxial air flames. From the radiation measurements, more detailed explanations on these deviations were suggested.

In this study, combustion modeling of ZPP and $BKNO_3$ mainly used in the PMD industries has been performed. Saint Robert's law, energy conservation equation, and the Noble-Abel equation of the state have been used for governing equations. The results of pressure obtained from established combustion models and actual CBT have been compared. In the case of ZPP, the model has predicted a pressure curve similar to that of the experimental results, but $BKNO_3$ has showed that the maximum pressure of the model is greater than the experiment at small chamber volume. For these gaps, the probability of $BKNO_3$ unburning has been considered.

An experimental study on flame lift-off characteristics of propane jet flame highly diluted with nitrogen has been conducted introducing acoustic forcing with a tube resonant frequency. A flame stability curve is attained according to forcing strength and nozzle exit velocity for $N_2$ diluted flames. Flame lift-off behavior with forcing strength and nozzle exit velocity is globally categorized into three; a well premixed behavior caused by a collapsible mixing for large forcing strength, a coexistent behavior of well-premixed and edge flames interacting with well-organized inner fuel vortices for moderate forcing strengths, and edge flame behavior for small forcing strengths. Special focus is concentrated on the coexistent behavior of the flame base in lifted flame since this may give a hint to a possibility which the flame base behaves like a well-mixed premixed flame in highly turbulent lifted flames. It is also shown that the acoustic forcing to self-pulsating laminar lifted flame affects flame lift-off behavior considerably which is closely related to downstream flow velocity, mixture strength, effective fuel Lewis number, and flame stretch.

Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating irregular motion and are widely used in many automatic equipments, such as textile machinery, internal combustion engines and other automatic devices. In order to obtain the positive motion of follower by rotating cam, its shape should be correctly designed and manufactured. However, complex engineering tasks are required in a design and manufacturing of cams. And also, the manufacturing of general cam is demanded high costs. For the designing of cam, it must be decided that what kind of motion has to be transmitted to follower before selecting the curve of cam and designing profile of cam. However, even though the exact profile of cam is designed at the progress of design, if it doesn't have precision at the manufacturing progress, it's impossible to get expected result. We will develop cam simulation apparatus for measuring cam curve and get profile data before analyzing an error through comparison with design data of cam.

The dome stretching and tension test have been made to obtain a forming limit curve(FLC) for the copper alloy which is used for manufacturing the regenerative cooling chamber. For experimental survey of the forming limit curve, we have used in-plane tension specimen to obtain tension-compression strain state and also out of plane specimen to obtain tension-tension strain state through dome stretching test. All specimens are divided into longitudinal and radial direction specimens by the manufacturing method. The test results shows that in tension-tension region, copper alloy possesses a maximum major strain of 62.3% and maximum minor strain of 58.6%. In the tension-compression region, maximum major strain is 60.5% and maximum minor strain is 25.8%.

In this paper, a theoretical study of low frequency non acoustic instability, the $L^*$ instability, of a solid rocket motor is investigated. The $L^*$ stability criterion is determined by analysing the $L^*$ stability curves of two very distinct propellants for five different geometrical combustors. The $L^*$ instability of two extreme fuels showed totally different behavior in terms of operating pressure of the combustor. A parametric study on the stability for different chamber volume and different throat area keeping constant $L^*$ is conducted and analyzed. It was found that one of the main parameters, the non-dimensional critical characteristic time, requires an enough margin from the critical $L^*$ stability curve.
This study was conducted by utilizing simulation (FDS6) the fire characteristics of the flammable substances such as cable compartment of a small space in the EPS room type. In the partitioned space of a room EPS supply of oxygen does not facilitate the combustion of the upward-sloping curve, as in a standard fire curve is not observed. Simulation results in a situation where ventilation is limited to the heat release rate and smoke emission characteristics of the fire showed a complex and unstable form a repeating rise and fall. Fire time was longer than the fire load. Change in the smoke emission than the heat release rate is slow, but changes of the overall surface was found to exhibit affinity.
