Analysis of the Influence of CO2 Capture on the Performance of IGCC Plants (가스화 복합화력발전 플랜트에서 CO2제거가 성능에 미치는 영향 해석)

  • In the power generation industry, various efforts are needed to cope with tightening regulation on carbon dioxide emission. Integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) is a relatively environmentally friendly power generation method using coal. Moreover, pre-combustion $CO_2$ capture is possible in the IGCC system. Therefore, much effort is being made to develop advanced IGCC systems. However, removal of $CO_2$ prior to the gas turbine may affect the system performance and operation because the fuel flow, which is supplied to the gas turbine, is reduced in comparison with normal IGCC plants. This study predicts, through a parametric analysis, system performances of both an IGCC plant using normal syngas and a plant with $CO_2$ capture. Performance characteristics are compared and influence of $CO_2$ capture is discussed. By removing $CO_2$ from the syngas, the heating value of the fuel increases, and thus the required fuel flow to the gas turbine is reduced. The resulting reduction in turbine flow lowers the compressor pressure ratio, which alleviates the compressor surge problem. The performance of the bottoming cycle is not influenced much.

  • This paper presents a gas turbine data acquisition and monitoring system using a LabVIEW programming. The developed real-time monitoring system entitled a C-Tune DAS Plays an important role to make an analysis of the real-time operation of the gas turbine under maintenance. the LabVIEW based software is divided into three parts according to their original functions; Data acquisition, Data analysis and display, and Data storage. The data acquisition part receives data from a PMS (Plant Management System) server and two cFPs (Compact-Field Point). To verify the validity of the developed system, it is applied to gas turbines in the combined cycle power plant in Korea.

Emotional Labor Experienced of Ward Nurses (포커스 그룹으로 본 병동간호사의 감정노동 경험)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study was to describe the emotional labor experiences of ward nurses in Korea. Methods: The data were collected through focus group interviews with seven ward nurses. The phenomenological analytic method suggested by Colaizzi was used to analyze the data. Results: Four theme clusters and eleven themes emerged from the analysis. The first theme cluster, 'Terrible working environment' includes changes in the health environment and realities of nursing organization. The second theme cluster, 'Suppressed feelings' includes institutionalized power trip, patient-centered emotion management and burning. The third theme cluster, 'Tired body and mind' includes withdrawal, wounded self-esteem, burnout and turnover desicion. The fourth theme cluster, 'Want to be comforted' includes emotional control and wishing to live as a nurse. Conclusions: The findings of this study provide an understanding of the emotional labor experiences of ward nurses to explain their perceptions and language. The essence of the emotional labor of ward nurses is a negative working environment created by increased competition in the healthcare industry and the nature of nursing organization, and as a result their quality of life has fallen.

  • Inter-turn short circuits can have significant effects on a generator and its performance. The Inter-turn short circuits sensor for synchronous generator's field winding has been developed. The sensor, installed in the generator air-gap, senses the slot leakage flux of field winding and produces a voltage waveform proportional to the rate of change of the flux. For identification of reliability for sensor, a shorted- turn test was performed at the Seoinchon combined cycle power plant on gas turbine generator and stim turbine generator. This sensor will be used as a detecting of Inter-turn short circuits for synchronous generator's field winding.

  • 군산복합화력발전소의 냉각수 취수부는 부지 여건상 수로의 길이가 짧고, 좌안이 좁아진 후 단차가 있는 형태에 직각으로 흐름방향이 전환되면서 CWP로 유입되는 구조로 설계되었기 때문에 CWP 운영에 불리한 수리현상이 예상되어 수치모의와 수리모형실험을 통한 사전검증이 필요하였다. 이에 $FLOW-3D^(R)$를 이용한 3차원 수치모의와 축척 1/10의 수리모형실험을 통하여 면밀히 검토한 결과 CWP 진입부의 깊은 수심이 흐름을 감세하여 0.3m/s 이하의 유속분포를 나타내 균등취수에 문제가 없는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • 본 논문에서 복합 화력 발전을 위한 개방화 되고 표준화된 보일러/터빈 통합 감시제어 시스템을 개발하였고, 검증하였다. 통합 감시 제어 시스템은 복합 화력 공정의 HRSG, BOP, DEHC 계통을 위한 통합 감시 제어 시스템이다. 복합 화력 공정에서 시스템은 다양한 운전모드와 잦은 기동, 정지에 의해 운영되는 특징이 있다. 통합감시제어시스템은 복합모드 제어를 수행하고 고급제어를 포함하는 고기능제어 시스템으로 개발되었다. 타 시스템과의 효율적인 연계를 위해 표준화된 인터페이스의 개방형 시스템으로 개발하였으며, 원거리관리를 위한 Web monitoring 기능을 수행하고, 효율적인 실시간 이력 시스템을 포함한다. 개발된 시스템은 현장에서 실제로 검증되었다.

Noise Prediction of HRSG for Gas Turbine (복합발전용 배열회수보일러의 소음예측)

  • HRSG, which is one of main components of the combined cycle power plant,is composed of an inlet duct, a main body and casing, an outlet duct and a stack. It is important to design HRSG wihtin the allowable noise limit. For this purpose, it is necessary to analyze and predict the noise reduction and radiation at HRSG. In this paper, the technology for the noise prediction at each part of HRSG has been based on the empirical and field data, and also the HRSG noise prediction program has been developed. In order to verify the developed technology and program a field test is conducted. The results of noise prediction show good agreement with the measured.

  • Daily generation scheduling system (DGSC) is a main tool in the power system operation. In Korea, a DGSC was developed in 1982 and it was updated continuously. However, as new type of generators and the number of constraints are introduced. it is very difficult to use the old DGSC. This paper presents a proposal for the development of new DGSC. In the Proposed proposal, line flow constraint and dispatch of combined cycle plant are included.

  • On-line diagnosis system has been developed and is now applied the detection of shorted turns in the field winding of large generator. This system consists of data aquisition system and display PC. The data aquisition system detects voltage waveforms from flux probe sensor installed in the stator slot. The display PC shows theshorted-turn situation of generator rotor winding. A shorted-turn diagnosis test wasperformed on five gas turbine generators at the Seoinchon combined cycle power plant. The test was conducted using an new diagnosis system and digital oscilloscope which can identify the pole location, the slot number and the number of shorted turns within each slot. It is confirmed that results of two systems are very same in the field tests.

Fatigue Life Analysis of SA508 Gr. 1A Low-Alloy Steel under the Operating Conditions of Nuclear Power Plant (원자력발전소 운전환경에서 SA508 Gr. 1A 저합금강의 피로 수명 분석)

  • Fatigue has been known as a major degradation mechanism of ASME class 1 components in nuclear power plants. Fatigue damage could be accelerated by combined interaction of several loads and environmental factors. However, the environmental effect is not explicitly addressed in the ASME S-N curve which is based on air at room temperature. Therefore many studies have been performed to understand the environmental effects on fatigue behavior of materials used in nuclear power plants. As a part of efforts, we performed low cycle fatigue tests under various environmental conditions and analyzed the environmental effects on the fatigue life of SA508 Gr. 1a low alloy steel by comparing with higuchi's model. Test results show that the fatigue life depends on water temperature, dissolved oxygen and strain rate. But strain rate over 0.4%/s has little effect on the fatigue life. To find the cause of different fatigue life with ANL's and higuchi's model, another test performed with different heat numbered and heat treated materials of SA508 Gr. 1a. On a metallurgical point of view, the material with bainite microstructure shows much longer fatigue life than that with ferrite/pearlite microstructure. And the characteristics of crack propagation as different microstructure seem to be the main cause of different fatigue life.
