Alloy 625의 특성과 조직에 미치는 원심주조품 두께의 영향 (Effect of Centrifugal Casting Thickness on the Mechanical Properties and the Microstructure of Alloy 625)

  • 초내열합금 625 튜브의 제조에 필요한 원심주조품의 두께에 따라 응고조직과 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 10, 17, 50 mm 두께로 원심주조한 625합금에서 두께의 증가에 따라 주상정 부분의 길이와 2차 수지상 간격이 약간 증가하였으나 상온 인장특성은 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 주상정 부분의 응고는 일방향응고의 형태로 응고가 진행되기 때문에 일방향응고 조건을 변화시켜 2차 수지상의 간격을 비교하여 각 두께의 주조품에서 응고속도를 계산하였다. 두꺼운 주조품일수록 내부 다결정 조직의 비율이 증가하였다. 다결정 부분의 인장특성은 주상정 부분의 평균값과 유사한 값을 보였으며 이는 2차 수지상의 간격보다 결정립 형태의 영향인 것으로 사료된다.

알루미늄 합금의 TCG 조직의 형성기구 (Mechanism of Twin Columnar Growth in Aluminum Alloys)

  • Commercial semicontinuous cast ingots of aluminum alloys often exhibit large grains composed of parallel arrays of continuous lamellae. Each lamella consists of a central {111} coherent twin boundary and wavy solidification boundary. This microstructure is referred to as a twin columnar growth(TCG) structure. The factors influencing the formation of a TCG structure include a unidirectional thermal gradient and the critical range of the alloying element content. The higher the thermal gradient is, the shorter the twin plane spacings are. The composition profile for an untwinned dendrite shows maximums at the positions of the interdendritic channels and the minimum appears at the center of the dendrite. While for twinned dendrite, it has wavy apperance. This profile has two local minimums instead of one shown in the untwinned.

  • 이 논문은 화재원인판정에 있어서, 교류전류에 의해 용융된 나전선의 발열특성을 기술한 것이다. 실험을 위해 동전선은 1.2[mm], 1.6[mm], 2.0[mm]의 직경인 것을 준비하였다. 단면분석을 통해 용단전류가 전선에 공급되었을 때, 수지상 조직은 약40[$^{\circ}$] 또는 60[$^{\circ}$]의 각도로 성장하는 것을 확인하였다. 용단전류가 커지면 커질수록 수지상 조직의 성장각도는 줄어들었다. 그것은 주상조직과 유사하다는 것을 확인하였다.

선단과냉을 고려한 이원합금의 주상 수지상응고 모델 (A model for columnar-dendritic solidification of binary alloys accounting for dendrite tip undercooling)

  • A simplified model for predicting microsegregation during columnar-dendritic solidification of binary alloys is developed, in which back diffusion, dendrite arm coarsening and dendrite tip undercooling are simultaneously incorporated. The inclusion of tip undercooling is accomplished by modifying the initial conditions of the existing solute diffusion model, in such forms that tip undercooling depresses the beginning of solidification below the liquidus temperature, and that the secondary arm spacing evolves in accordance with the minimum undercooling theory. Sample calculations for the well-known benchmark system show that the present predictions not only consist with the extablished limiting cases, but also agree favorably with the available experimental data within a reasonable tolerance. In particular, a typical decreasing trend in the eutectic fraction at high cooling rates is successfully resolved. Comparison of the individual and combined effects of characteristic parameters in reference with the limiting cases reveals the interactions among parameters. Every parameter plays the role of reducing the eutectic fraction, and the degree of influence depends primarily on the cooling rate. Coarsening enhances the effect of tip undercooling, while suppressing that of back diffusion. A vigorous back diffusion seems to restrain the apperance of the undercooling effect. Overall, each contribution of the three parameters to microsegregation is estimated to be of the same order, which suffices to justify the present study.

저압용 나전선의 단락조건에 의한 단면 분석 (The Cross Section Analysis CSA based on the Short Circuit Conditions of the Low Voltage Bare Wires)

  • In this paper, we studied the cross section analysis based on the short circuit conditions of the low voltage bare wires. The copper wires prepared for the experiment were 1.2mm 1.6mm and 2.0mm in diameter. Through the cross section analysis(CSA), it was confirmed that the dendrite structure grew at the angle of about $40^{\circ}$ or $60^{\circ}$ when the fusing current was applied to the wires. The larger the fusing current is, the more decreased the growth angle of the dendrite structure is. It was confirmed that the dendrite structure was arranged like the columnar structure. In this paper, the characteristics analysis of short circuit was carried out in the range of transient duration.

합금응고시 주상정으로부터 등축정 수지상으로의 천이에 관한 해석 (The analysis of columnar to equiaxed dendritic transition during alloy solidification)

  • 일반적으로 재료의 응고조직은 주상정과 등축정 수지상 영역으로 이루어지는데 이것은 제품의 기계적, 물리적 성질과 밀접한 관계를 가지기 때문에 주상정-등축정 천이에 관한 많은 이론적 연구가 행하여지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 J.D. Hunt에 의하여 일방향응고시 주상정앞에서의 핵생성과 결정성장조건을 이용하여 구하여진 해석학적 주상정-등축정 조건식을 바탕으로 응고속도에 따라 변하는 분배계수와 액상선기울기를 적용하여 수정된 조건식을 구하였다. 그리고 Al-Cu합금에 대하여 응고변수인 핵생성수, 핵생성온도, 합금의 조성, 응고속도 온도기울기에 따른 천이현상의 변화를 조사하였다.

  • For a fire cause judgement this paper describes the short circuit characteristics of a electric wire through the cross section analysis under ac condition. The cower wires prepared for the experiment were 1.2mm, 1.6mm, and 2.0mm in diameter. Through the cross section analysis(CSA), it was confirmed that the dendrite structure grew at the angle of about $40^{\circ}\;or\;60^{\circ}$ when the fusing current was applied to the wires. The larger the fusing current is, the more decreased the growth angle of the dendrite structure is. It was confirmed that the dendrite structure was arranged like the columnar structure. In this paper, the characteristics analysis of short circuit was carried out in the range of transient duration and the correlation constant k was investigated by measuring the short circuit duration and the fusing current.

  • The solar energy is dramatically increasing as the alternative energy source and the silicon(Si) solar cell are used the most. In this study, the improved process and equipment for the metallurgical refinement of multicrystalline Si were evaluated for the inexpensive solar cell. The planar plane and columnar dendrite aheadof the liquid-solid interface position caused the superior segregation of impurities from the Si. The solidification rate and thermal gradient determined the shape of dendrite in solidified Si matrix solidified by the directional solidification(DS) method. To simulate this equipment, the commercial software, PROCAST, was used to solve the solidification rate and thermal gradient. Si was vertically solidified by the DS system with Stober process and up-graded metallurgical grade or metallurgical grade Si was used as the feedstock. The inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP) was used to measure the concentration of impurities in the refined Si ingot. According to the result of ICP and simulation, the high thermal gradient between the two phases wasable to increase the solidification rate under the identical level of refinement. Also, the separating heating zone equipped with the melting and solidification zone was effective to maintain the high thermal gradient during the solidification.

  • In the analysis of a mushy solidification system with natural convection using a fixed grid method, the enthalpy method has been used to account for the release of latent heat. The variable viscosity, Darcy source, and hybrid methods have been employed for the velocity suppression in a mushy region. The choice of the values of solid viscosity and permeability constant in conjunction with the Darcy source term plays an important role in forming the location and shape of the phase boundaries. In this work the effects of these major parameters related to steady-state behavior in the system of mushy solidification are investigated through a simple test problem. The effective specific heat based on the spatial gradients of the enthalpy and temperature is adopted for the treatment of the release of latent heat. The effects of the Prandtl and Rayleigh numbers on the shape of mushy region are examined using the hybrid method.

  • The effects of varying the pouring temperature and the die preheating temperature in producing centrifugally cast HP alloy modified with Nb was evaluated on the basis of the resultant macrostructure, microstructure and hardness of these castings. Increased die preheating temperatures and pouring temperatures resulted in an increase in the thickness of the columnar dendritic zone, the primary and secondary dendrite arm spacing and the thickness of the zone of porosity at the casting I.D.(inner diameter). Lower die preheating temperature and pouring temperatures result in increased grain fineness and an increased zone of equiaxed grains. A higher hardness was achieved toward the casting O.D.(outer diameter) compared to the casting I.D., attributable to alloy segregation toward the casting I.D. and segregation differences resulting from reduced solidification cooling rates toward the casting I.D. Also, a higher hardness was realized at the cold end of the casting attributed to a more uniform distribution of carbides.
