  • Colour properties can be classified based on hue, brightness, and saturation, and the characteristics of colour perception vary by colour property. In terms of colour perception, surrounding colours are viewed together rather than independently, and the characteristics of the original colour perception may vary depending on the colour characteristics of the surrounding. Thus far, research on colour perception and sensibility has focused on a monotonic environment, which is different from colour perception in real life. As such, a fundamental study on colour perception considering surrounding colours must be conducted. In this study, a psychophysical experiment was conducted, and the results were analysed to study the colour perception characteristics by edge brightness, Edge brightness was set as a variable based on the visual traits that are most sensitive to brightness, and the experiment was conducted using the Munsell colour system to specify the stimulus colour. Based on the analysis of the experimental outcomes, this study reveals the significance of fundamental research data on the visual and perceptual characteristics of colour perception with regard to edge brightness and provides directions for future research.

  • Liquid crystal display (LCD) devices contain a colour filter which can visualise colour images by transmitting or absorbing light. Colour properties of LCD mainly depend on colour materials such as pigments and polymeric binders. In this paper, colour properties were studied to improve colour quality of LCD. Generally, the colour properties can be classified into three categories which are colour purity, brightness and contrast ratio. For this study, photo resists were prepared by treatment of pigments and synthesis of polymeric binder. The treated pigments were dispersed and formulated with additives for preparing a photo resist that could be used for manufacturing colour filters. As a result of what we studied, type, mixture ratio and concentration of pigments were very important to improve colour purity of LCD device.

  • Objectives The aim of this study is to propose an optimized tongue colour interpolation method to achieve accurate tongue image rendering. Methods We selected 60 colour chips in the chips of DIC color guide selector, and then divided randomly the colour chips into two groups. The colour chips of a group (Gr I) were used for finding the optimized colour correction factor of error and those of the other group (Gr II) were used for verifying the correction factor. We measured colour value of the Gr I colour chips with spectrophotometer, and took the colour chips image with a digital tongue image system (DTIS). We adjusted colour correction factor of error to equal the chip colour from each method. Through that process, we obtained the optimized colour correction factor. To verify the correction factor, we measured colour value of the Gr II colour chips with a spectrophotometer, and took the colour chips image with the DTIS in the two types of colour interpolation mode (auto white balance mode and optimized colour correction factor mode). And then we calculated the CIE-$L^*ab$ colour difference (${\Delta}E$) between colour values measured with the spectrophotometer and those from images taken with the DTIS. Results In auto white balance mode, The mean ${\Delta}E$ between colour values measured with the spectrophotometer and those from images taken with the DTIS was 13.95. On the other hand, in optimized colour correction factor mode, The mean ${\Delta}E$ was 9.55. The correction rate was over 30%. Conclusions In case of interpolating colour of images taken with the DTIS, we suggest that procedure to search the optimized colour correction factor of error should be done first.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the general Kasa. More specially, the objectives of the research was (a) to determine the reason why dyes the colour of kasa; (b) to examine the kinds of Kasa colour; (c) to provide the dyeing method of Kasa colour; (d) to clarify the prohibited colour and the permitted limit; and (e) to find which and why kasa colour in our country use. The reason why dyes the colour of Kasa are the following; (a) it differentiates between the white robe in the leading ascetic life of Buddhism at ones home and that of the entering the priesthood. (b) it protects the victim of robbery (c) it discards the attachment to the ownership (d) it lessens the burden of at alms. The kinds of Kasa's color consist of several one such as 증(cheung), 흑(heuk), 전(chun), 목란(mokran), and so on. The three colour among them use as the colour of kasa in the each vinaya pitaka. The dyeing method of kasa is composed of two ways; One is to dye the whole Kasa; the other is to dye the part of Kasa. Recently, in our country, the red which is the branch of kalasama is the leading colour of Kasa.

  • The digital colour reproduced on a display can be transferred to the image through various colour spaces, and the colour transferred to the image is one of the most important factors, among both subjective and objective factors, in image quality evaluation. Therefore, the digital colour must be continuously studied objectively and quantitatively along with the display development. At the same time, the subjective evaluation should be accompanied by systematic and quantitative research as the visual characteristics must be fully reflected. In this study, we applied different lightness levels of the background in order to examine the movement phenomenon of colour properties among the digital colour properties reproduced on the display. A psychophysical experiment was conducted for the condition where various colours were presented in the background, and the size of the colour stimulus was divided into the foveal vision and peripheral vision. Based on the evaluation results of the experiment, the colour properties movement phenomenon is identified according to the lightness of the background and the size of the colour stimulus for five colours among KS basic colours selected by experimental stimulus. Furthermore, a research direction to reproduce colour on displays in the future is proposed.

  • Hue, value, and chroma are the fundamental colour components used in colour property research to identify colour in the digital media environment. In the Munsell colour system, which is based on the characteristics of visual perception, the basic properties are classified into hue, value, and chroma. The methods for recording these three properties can be divided into the colour appearance system and the colour mixing system: in the former, they are documented based on a colour chart that focuses on visual perception, and in the latter, accurate numerical records are kept without concern for discolouration. Colour terminology is crucial for conveying and expressing colours, and colours can be classified and defined according to the combination of hue, value, and chroma. With the development of various media, it has become possible to represent a range of colours previously unachievable, necessitating basic research into the characteristics of colour perception by further subdividing digital-oriented colour studies. In this study, we conducted psychophysical experiments to identify and analyse the categories of value and chroma needed to recognise each colour among the ten representative colours of the Munsell colour system, based on visual perception on a display. This study analyses the results of these experiments, defines their significance as foundational research data on colour perception characteristics, and suggests directions for future research.

  • This study has been made to examine the symbolic meaning of our traditional costume colours based on the theory of yin-yang Wu-hsing the interaction of yin and yang with the rotation of the five agents wood firt earth metal and waters. Presenting the spirt and the life of our race the costume culture has been keep-ing its own systematic symbol. Being sensible the colour has to be under-stood as the colour sense therefore the cos-tume colour has begun to have the symbolic meaning with the feeling or the mental value. According to the theory of yin-yang wu-hsing the costume colour has presented our racial sprit way of thinking and way of life for a long time and it has become the tra-ditional culture at last. Based on the doctrine of cosmic harmony through the motion of yin and yang or the passive and active elements are their five agents form the material force of everything. The order of nature has its counterpart in five symbolic costume colours wood-blue ; fire-red: earth-yellow; metal-white: water-black. The five colours are called the primary colours. which produce the next compound colours. Accepted in the social system as well as the social stats the costume colour has set up systematically. The theory of Yin-yang Wu-hsing has given the five colours the symbolic meanings and its mainstream has been the function of Sangsaeng and Sangeuk which are genera-ted by the power of virture. The former is mu-tually beneficial while the latter destructive. The colour as a costume colour has been made distinction between the colour of the up-per classes and the colour of the middle and lower classes and the specific colour has presented the symbolic meanings. The yeollow the red and the purple have been regarded as the colour of king queen and upper classes Being the colour recognition the costume colour has been established by the society and the race generally Implied the spiritual elements the colour recognition could select the lucky colour in accordance with one's des-tiny. Besides the colour recognition has begun to appear as the racial costumes to protect the society and to pray for good fortune. According to the theory of Yin-yang Wu-hsing the costume colour has been forming through our long history and has become our costume culture. Therefore the colour of the costume has signified not only the colour sense but also the important symbolic meanings.

  • The colour response reflects the cultural psychology of a nation or an ethnical group. Therefore the necessity and the importance of the investigations about the colours have been raised recently because of the possibilities for the diverse and practical applications in the modern industries. But there are certain tendencies for the investigations of the colours that depend upon the traditional and generalized approaches with which the meaning of the colour is used to be limited with the generalized interpretations that does not use to pay attention on the unique characteristics of a nation or an ethnical group. The object of this study has been planned and realized for the case study in Mexican City. In February of the year 2010 the colour response enquete had been realized during seven days and 128 peoples had participated. We've obtained information through the questionnaire method, getting the fact that the mexicans do response in some other ways. The results of this investigation tell us that the positive colours and the negative ones are different from the colours that the americans and the britains select. This investigation will serve as a basic study on the cultural psychology of the mexicans through the colours.
