  • In this paper, we propose hand tracking system combined with color and motion information. Most of hand detection and tracking systems are performed by modeling skin color. However, in this approach, since it is highly influenced by light or surrounding objects, accurate values cannot be derived constantly. Also, depending on the skin color, hand tracking may be interrupted by not only the hand but also the background with a color similar to that of the face and skin. Therefore, we design the hand tracking that can effectively track a hand by using motion history image(MHI) and combining it with CamShift. The proposed system is implemented based on C/C++, and the experiments proved that the proposed method shows stable and excellent performance.

  • We investigate a visual object tracking algorithm based upon particle filters, namely CONDENSATION, in order to combine multiple observation models such as active contours of digitally subtracted image and the particle measurement of object color. The former is applied to matching the contour of the moving target and the latter is used to independently enhance the likelihood of tracking a particular color of the object. Particle filters are more efficient than any other tracking algorithms because the tracking mechanism follows Bayesian inference rule of conditional probability propagation. In the experimental results, it is demonstrated that the suggested contour tracking particle filters prove to be robust in the cluttered environment of robot vision.

  • Generally, it is difficult to find constant patterns on identifiers in a container image, since the identifiers are not normalized in color, size, and position, etc. and their shapes are damaged by external environmental factors. This paper distinguishes identifier areas from background noises and removes noises by using an ART2-based quantization method and general morphological information on the identifiers such as color, size, ratio of height to width, and a distance from other identifiers. Individual identifier is extracted by applying the 8-directional contour tracking method to each identifier area. This paper proposes a refined ART2-based RBF network and applies it to the recognition of identifiers. Through experiments with 300 container images, the proposed algorithm showed more improved accuracy of recognizing container identifiers than the others proposed previously, in spite of using shorter training time.

  • Spatiograms are histograms augmented with spatial means and covariances to capture a richer description of the target. We present a particle filtering framework for region-based tracking using spatiograms. Unlike mean shift, the framework allows for non-differentiable similarity measures to compare two spatiograms; we present one such similarity measure, a combination of a recent weighting scheme and histogram intersection. Experimental results show improved performance with the new measure as well as the importance of global spatial information for tracking. The performance of spatiograms is compared with color histograms and several texture histogram methods.

  • Among the visual sensibility studies, many studies of color or movement have been done, but not much have been done about whether it can evoke sensibility in static form itself. Therefore, in this study, visual attention by AOIs(Area of Interests) combined with color based on three basic forms was analyzed using eye tracking, and the results were visually expressed through Heat Map and Gaze Plot. In addition, A Paired t-test was performed on the mean difference between the two groups to verify the statistical significance of each color and form. As a result of the experiment, the chromatic color form was more visual attention than the achromatic color form and warm color form was higher mean than cool color, so the visual attention was greater. In this study, it is meaningful to suggest a quantitative method which is easy to interpret objectively the design element that is easily interpreted subjectively. Based on the results of this study, if more further studies and quantitative analysis methods are presented that can identify differences in visual attention from various colors and forms, it can be used to provide guidelines for basic design.

  • We propose an global color model based method for tracking motions of multiple human using a networked multiple-camera system in intelligent space as a human-robot coexistent system. An intelligent space is a space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors(color CCD cameras for example), are distributed. Human beings can be a part of intelligent space as well. One of the main goals of intelligent space is to assist humans and to do different services for them. In order to be capable of doing that, intelligent space must be able to do different human related tasks. One of them is to identify and track multiple objects seamlessly.

  • Human body motion is a non-verbal part for interaction or movement that can be used to involves real world and virtual world. In this paper, we explain a study on natural user interface (NUI) in human hand motion recognition using RGB color information and depth information by Kinect camera from Microsoft Corporation. To achieve the goal, hand tracking and gesture recognition have no major dependencies of the work environment, lighting or users' skin color, libraries of particular use for natural interaction and Kinect device, which serves to provide RGB images of the environment and the depth map of the scene were used. An improved Camshift tracking algorithm is used to tracking hand motion, the experimental results show out it has better performance than Camshift algorithm, and it has higher stability and accuracy as well.

  • Nowadays, a private protection act has come into effect which demands for the protection of personal image information obtained by the CCTV. According to this act, the object out of interest has to be mosaicked such that it can not be identified before the image is sent to the investigation office. Meanwhile, the demand for digital videos obtained by CCTV is also increasing for digital forensic. Therefore, due to the two conflicting demands, the demand for a solution which can automatically mask an object in the CCTV video is increasing and related IT industry is expected to grow. The core technology in developing a target masking solution is the object tracking technique. In this paper, we propose an object tracking technique which suits for the application of CCTV video object masking as a postprocess. The proposed method simultaneously uses the motion and the color information to produce a stable tracking result. Furthermore, the proposed method is based on the centroid shifting method, which is a fast color based tracking method, and thus the overall tracking becomes fast.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for tracking objects continously and successively based on fusion of region information, color information and motion template when multiple objects are occluded and splitted. For each frame, color template is updated and compared with the present object. The predicted region, dynamic template and color histogram are used to classify the objects. The vertical histogram of the silhouettes is analyzed to determine whether or not the foreground region contains multiple objects. The proposed method can recognize more correctly the objects to be tracked.

  • This paper presents the method for detection and tracking of multiple humans robustly in mobile platform. The perception of human is performed in real time through the processing of images acquired from a moving stereo vision system. We performed multi-cue integration such as human shape, skin color and depth information to detect and track each human in moving background scene. Human shape is measured by edge-based template matching on distance transformed image. Improving robustness for human detection, we apply the human face skin color in HSV color space. And we could increase the accuracy and the robustness in both detection and tracking by applying random sampling stochastic estimati...
