INFRARED COLOR-COLOR DIAGRAMS FOR AGB STARS

  • We present infrared color-color diagrams of AGB stars from the observations at near and mid infrared bands. We compile the observations for hundreds of OH/IR stars and carbon stars using the data from the Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX), the two micron sky survey (2MASS), and the IRAS point source catalog (PSC). We compare the observations with the theoretical evolutionary tracks of AGB stars. From the new observational data base and the theoretical evolution tracks, we discuss the meaning of the infrared color-color diagrams at different wavelengths.

Expression of Coat Color Associated Genes in Korean Brindle Cattle by Microarray Analysis

  • The aim of the present study was to identify coat color associated genes that are differentially expressed in mature Korean brindle cattle (KBC) with different coat colors and in Hanwoo cows. KBC calves, before and after coat color appearance, were included. Total cellular RNA was isolated from the tail hair cells and used for microarray. The number of expressed coat color associated genes/probes was 5813 in mature KBC and Hanwoo cows. Among the expressed coat color associated genes/probes, 167 genes were the coat color associated genes listed in the Gene card database and 125 genes were the pigment and melanocyte genes listed in the Gene ontology_bovine database. There were 23 genes/probes commonly listed in both databases and their expressions were further studied. Out of the 23 genes/probes, MLPH, PMEL, TYR and TYRP1 genes were expressed at least two fold higher (p<0.01) levels in KBC with brindle color than either Hanwoo or KBC with brown color. TYRP1 expression was 22.96 or 19.89 fold higher (p<0.01) in KBC with brindle color than either Hanwoo or KBC with brown color, respectively, which was the biggest fold difference. The hierarchical clustering analysis indicated that MLPH, PMEL, TYR and TYRP1 were the highly expressed genes in mature cattle. There were only a few genes differentially expressed after coat color appearance in KBC calves. Studies on the regulation and mechanism of gene expression of highly expressed genes would be next steps to better understand coat color determination and to improve brindle coat color appearance in KBC.

  • The Chinese Ink Painting is an art with long history in Chinese culture. Painters can obtain various kinds of scenery by mixing water and ink properly. These papers provides a colorization technique that can transfer gray scale paintings to color paintings. Various colorization techniques for photorealistic images have good results. But these techniques are uncertainly suitable for Chinese Ink Painting. In our method, users only provide a gray scale Chinese Ink Painting and a similar color Chinese Ink Painting subjectively, system can automatically transfer the color from color painting to gray scale painting. We also provide a method for users to refine the automatically generated result.

  • A new manufacturing method using laser transfer technology was developed for a color filter of TFT-LCD. This method can make red, green and blue color layer at the same time without several baking processes. Simple process, no residue, good edge profile, and so on are merits of this process. The same performances (such as color characteristics, reliability, hardness and so on) of current color filter were achieved with this process.

  • 디지털 카메라 시스템에서 CMOS 이미지 센서 (CMOS image sensor, CIS)는 낮은 가격, 작은 시스템 크기, 특히 적은 소비전력의 장점을 가지고 있어 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 CIS에서 획득된 영상의 색은 원래의 피사체와 서로 다르고, CIS를 사용한 서로 다른 디지털 카메라는 촬상 특성의 차이에 의해서 통일한 자극치에 대해서 서로 다른 특성을 가지게 된다 이러한 CIS의 촬상 특성에 의해서 표준 색에 대한 출력 특성이 서로 다르게 되고, 영상 출력 장치에서도 동일한 색 재현을 기대하기가 어렵기 때문에 CIS를 위한 컬러 보정이 요구된다. 기존의 컬러 보정 방법은 많은 시간에 걸친 여러 변의 반복적 실험 과정에 의한 경험적 방법을 통해서 구하고 있으며, 그 결과 또한 만족스럽지 못한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 CIS를 이용한 디지털 카메라를 위한 효과적인 컬러 랩 방법을 새롭게 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 화이트 밸런스만을 조정한 카메라 자체의 전달 특성을 구하고, 이상적인 표준 카메라의 전달 특성에 가깝도록 컬러 보정 행렬을 통해 컬러 보정을 수행한다. 실험 결과, 카메라 전달 특성이 보정 전에 비해 표준 카메라의 전달 특성에 매우 가깝게 보정되었으며, 제안한 방법을 적용한 디지털 카메라의 출력 영상에 대한 화질도 상당히 향상된 것을 확인하였다.

올라퍼 엘리아슨의 작품에 나타난 블러 색채 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Blur Color in Olafur Eliasson's Works)

  • This thesis has purpose of explaining that blur color is not only appreciated but also undecided spacial color in contemporary space design and examining effects of space experience through the light. In keeping such developments, blur color has been perceived as the object of another tool in contemporary space and has provided us with new views by providing various program, sensor and screen from digital media. With the expansion of blur color, light has changed a spacial color structural that is not simple meaning factor into the essential concept. So this research aims to understand the principle of blur color in Olafur Eliasson's work, which of the fine artist in diverse fields from installation art to media art. The principle of blur color such as deconstruction of vanishing point, dimensional transfer, color gradation, and fiction of visual perception makes it possible to extract the expressed element and method of blur color. Meanwhile, the features of blur color such as sense of depth from viewpoint changes, hybrid from collapse of order, media metamorphosis from reconstitution and interaction from uncanny can be inferred from case analysis.

  • In this paper, a display color characteristic simulation algorithm is proposed for nonstandard display units under development. In this algorithm, signal transformation matrix is calculated from the transfer characteristic of a nonstandard display unit to reproduce the same color of the one on a standard CRT display. Proposed algorithm can be used for the simulation of various color reproduction characteristics and the performance improvement of the nonstandard display.

  • This paper presents an efficient method of estimating the correlated color temperature of an input color image and of generating a converted color image that can approximate the new target color temperature. After extracting the potential reference white region for an uncalibrated color image and estimating its correlated color temperature, the color conversion method produces a new color image with a target color temperature. Speed improvement and memory reduction have been achieved by using a simple transfer method without involving the CIE XYZ conversion step.

  • 본 논문은 얼굴의 표정 변화를 통해 감정을 분석하는 방법으로 조현병의 초기 증상을 스스로 인지할 수 있는 감정 트레이닝 프레임워크를 제안한다. 먼저, Microsoft의 Emotion API를 이용하여 캡처된 얼굴 표정의 사진으로부터 감정값을 얻고, 피크 분석 기반 표준편차로 시간에 따라 변화하는 얼굴 표정의 미묘한 차이를 인식해 감정 상태를 각각 분류한다. 그리하여 Ekman이 제안한 여섯 가지 기본 감정 상태에 반하는 감정들의 정서 및 표현능력이 결핍된 부분에 대해 분석하고, 그 값을 이미지 색상 변환 프레임워크에 통합시켜 사용자 스스로 감정의 변화를 쉽게 인지하고 트레이닝 할 수 있도록 하는 것이 최종목적이다.

Initial On-Orbit Modulation Transfer Function Performance Analysis for Geostationary Ocean Color Imager

  • The world's first geostationary ocean color imager (GOCI) is a three-mirror anastigmat optical system 140 mm in diameter. Designed for 500 m ground sampling distance, this paper deals with on-orbit modulation transfer function (MTF)measurement and analysis for GOCI. First, the knife-edge and point source methods were applied to the 8th band (865 nm) image measured April 5th, 2011. The target details used are the coastlines of the Korean peninsula and of Japan, and an island 400 meters in diameter. The resulting MTFs are 0.35 and 0.34 for the Korean East Coastline and Japanese West Coastline edge targets, respectively, and 0.38 for the island target. The daily and seasonal MTF variations at the Nyquist frequency were also checked, and the result is $0.32{\pm}0.04$ on average. From these results, we confirm that the GOCI on-orbit MTF performance satisfies the design requirements of 0.32 for 865 nm wavelength.
