  • Up to 10% of the global population suffers from color vision deficiency (CVD) [1], especially deuteranomaly and protanomaly, the conditions in which it is difficult to discriminate between red and green hues. For those who suffer from CVD, their career fields are restricted, and their childhood education is frustrating. There are many optical eye glasses on the market to compensate for this disability. However, although they are attractive due to their light weight, wearing these glasses will decrease visual brightness and cause problems at night. Therefore, this paper presents a supplementary device that comprises a head-mounted display and an image sensor. With the aid of the image processing technique of digital color space adjustment implemented in a high-speed field-programmable gate array device, the users can enjoy enhanced vision through the display without any decrease in brightness.

  • This paper presents a new image cache algorithm for real-time implementation of high-resolution color image warping. The cache memory is divided into four cache memory modules for simultaneous readout of four input image pixels in consideration of the color filter array (CFA) pattern of an image sensor and CFA image warping. In addition, a pipeline structure from the cache memory to an interpolator is shown to guarantee the generation of an output image pixel at each system clock cycle. The proposed image cache algorithm is applied to an FPGA-based real-time color image warping, and experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed method.

  • Geostationary Ocean Color Imager(GOCI), the World's first spaceborne ocean color observation satellite operated in geostationary orbit, was successfully launched on May 2010. The main missions of GOCI is the coastal environment monitoring of GOCI in order to meet the necessity of long-term climate change monitoring and research. The GOCI have higher spatial resolution than MODIS, $500m{\times}500m$, and 8 spectral ocean color channels. GOCI have a capability for observation on the coastal environment change, GOCI perform the observation with 8 times a day. In this paper, we presented the more improved results for observation on the coastal environment change than MODIS ocean color sensor and detected the spatial difference of CDOM for monitoring coastal environment change.

  • We developed a 4 inch (qVGA, 320x240) a-Si TFT LCD which has the function of color scanner. We have designed the novel pixel structure and got good scanning quality with minimum aperture loss. In this new pixel, the sensor capacitance was increased in double without decreasing the aperture loss.

  • In this paper, to improve the well-known photo conductivity degradation of amorphous silicon, a new LASER immersion treatment has been applied. The optical feedback control LED backlighting system with integrated LCD panel sensor increased the color variation less than 0.008 ${\Delta}u'v'$ compared to 0.025 for a non-feedback system.

  • Autonomous farm operation needs to be developed for safety, labor shortage problem, health etc. In this research, an autonomous tractor for tillage was investigated using machine vision and a fuzzy logic controller(FLC). Tractor heading and offset were determined by image processing and a geomagnetic sensor. The FLC took the tractor heading and offset as inputs and generated the steering angle for tractor guidance as output. A color CCD camera was used fro the image processing . The heading and offset were obtained using Hough transform of the G-value color images. 15 fuzzy rules were used for inferencing the tractor steering angle. The tractor was tested in the file and it was proved that the tillage operation could be done autonomously within 20 cm deviation with the machine vision and the FLC.

  • Polydiacetylenes (PDAs) are very attractive chemical substances which have distinctive features of color change and fluorescence emission by thermal or chemical stress. Especially, when PDAs contact with solutions of a particular pH, such as a strong alkaline sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution or a strong acidic hydrogen chloride (HCl) solution, PDAs change their color from non-fluorescent blue to fluorescent red. In this study, we propose a novel method to detect alkaline pH using PDAs and NaOH solutions by hydrodynamic focusing on a microfluidic chip. Preliminary results indicate that the fluorescent intensity of PDAs increases in respond to the NaOH solution concentrations. Also, the fluorescence is quenched back when the PDAs are in contact with a HCl solution. These results are useful in a microfluidic PDA sensor chip design for pH detection.

  • Recent development of IT industry including smart phones and communication technologies has resulted in rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and relevant markets. The access to IoT is becoming easier thanks to the boards and IoT products, such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Large-scale business sites use IoT technology to manage inventories, but small-scale business sites do not. In the present study, We ported Linux-based Raspbian to Raspberry Pi, It utilizes web server communication to control the Arduino through the application We used a color sensor to figure out the kind of inventory. We also built a database using MySQL to store the data. We used raspberry pi to check whether the proposed system works and apply it to small-scale business.
