A Study on Three-Dimensional Image Modeling and Visualization of Three-Dimensional Medical Image (삼차원 영상 모델링 및 삼차원 의료영상의 가시화에 관한 연구)

  • 3-D image modeling is in high demand for automated visual inspection and non-destructive testing. It also can be useful in biomedical research, medical therapy, surgery planning, and simulation of critical surgery (i.e. cranio-facial). Image processing and image analysis are used to enhance and classify medical volumetric data. Analyzing medical volumetric data is very difficult In this paper, we propose a new image modeling method based on tetrahedrization to improve the visualization of three-dimensional medical volumetric data. In this method, the trivariate piecewise linear interpolation is applied through the constructed tetrahedral domain. Also, visualization methods including iso-surface, color contouring, and slicing are discussed. This method can be useful to the correct and speedy analysis of medical volumetric data, because it doesn't have the ambiguity problem of Marching Cubes algorithm and achieves the data reduction. We expect to compensate the degradation of an accuracy by using an adaptive sub-division of tetrahedrization based on least squares fitting.

The Study concerning the Process of Textile Planning for Domestic Textile Converter (국내 소재 컨버터의 소재 기획 프로세스에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper was to figure out the status quo of development of textiles in fashion industry by analyzing through in-depth interview with domestic women's wear converters on the process of textile planning. Professionals in top3 domestic women's wear converters were selected and interviewed in-depth on actual work process of textile development. The result of the research is as follows. First, the interviewed converters were having transactions with entire domestic target market of women's clothing and also exporting to China. Second, production of textile was mostly domestic, with some from China. Third, the number of textile development was 20 - 50 items per season accordingly to size of converter, and the number was larger if taking into account the sourcing development, the special finished fabric development and the print design development. Fourth, for methods to gather information, converters got ideas through overseas exhibitions, overseas color swatch books, fashion-related web sites and market research. Fifth, when setting up direction of textiles, it was investigated that they had motif from in-trend material or on previous season's best-selling material. Sixth, textile planning map did not start from early in season but prefers in-progress board map. Seventh, ways for many method types for textile planning were found depending on sales type of converter and textile production price.

Visual Multi-touch Input Device Using Vision Camera (비젼 카메라를 이용한 멀티 터치 입력 장치)

  • In this paper, we propose a visual multi-touch air input device using vision cameras. The implemented device provides a barehanded interface which copes with the multi-touch operation. The proposed device is easy to apply to the real-time systems because of its low computational load and is cheaper than the existing methods using glove data or 3-dimensional data because any additional equipment is not required. To do this, first, we propose an image processing algorithm based on the HSV color model and the labeling from obtained images. Also, to improve the accuracy of the recognition of hand gestures, we propose a motion recognition algorithm based on the geometric feature points, the skeleton model, and the Kalman filter. Finally, the experiments show that the proposed device is applicable to remote controllers for video games, smart TVs and any computer applications.

A Vehicle License Plate Recognition Using the Feature Vectors based on Mesh and Thinning (메쉬 및 세선화 기반 특징 벡터를 이용한 차량 번호판 인식)

  • This paper proposes an effective algorithm of license plate recognition for industrial applications. By applying Canny edge detection on a vehicle image, it is possible to find a connected rectangular, which is a strong candidate for license plate. The color information of license plate separates plates into white and green. Then, OTSU binary image processing and foreground neighbor pixel propagation algorithm CLNF will be applied to each license plates to reduce noise except numbers and letters. Finally, through labeling, numbers and letters will be extracted from the license plate. Letter and number regions, separated from the plate, pass through mesh method and thinning process for extracting feature vectors by X-Y projection method. The extracted feature vectors are compared with the pre-learned weighting values by backpropagation neural network to execute final recognition process. The experiment results show that the proposed license plate recognition algorithm works effectively.

Cut Detection Algorithm Using the Characteristic Of Wavelet Coefficients in Each Subband (대역별 웨이블릿 계수특성을 이용한 장면전환점 검출기법)

  • In this paper, an algorithm using wavelet transform for detecting a cut that is a radical scene transition point, and fade and dissolve that are gradual scene transition points is proposed. The conventional methods using wavelet transform for this purpose is using features in both spatial and frequency domain. But in the proposed algorithm, the color space of an input image is converted to YUV and then luminance component Y is transformed in frequency domain using 2-level lifting. Then, the histogram of only low frequency subband that may contain some spatial domain features is compared with the previous one. Edges obtained from other higher bands can be divided into global, semi-global and local regions and the histogram of each edge region is compared. The experimental results show the performance improvement of about 17% in recall and 18% in precision and also show a good performance in fade and dissolve detection.

Histogram Matching Algorithm for Content-Based Dnage Retrieval (내용기반 영상검색을 위한 히스토그램 매칭 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we describe the Perceptually Weighted Histogram(PWH) and the Gaussian Weighted Histogram Intersection(GWHI) algorithms. These algorithms are able to provide positive results in image retrieval. But these histogram methods alter the histogram of an image by using particular lighting conditions. Even two pictures with little differences in lighting are not easily matched. Therefore, we propose that the Histogram Matching Algorithm(HMA) is able to overcome the problem of an image being changed by the intensity or color in the image retrieval. The proposed algorithm is insensitive to changes in the lighting. From the experiment results, the proposed algorithm can achieve up to 32% and up to 30% more recall than the PWH and GWHI algorithms, respectively. Also, it can achieve up to 38% and up to 34% more precision than PWH and GWHI, respectively Therefore, with our experiments, we are able to show that the proposed algorithm shows limited variation to changes in lighting.

A Car License Plate Recognition Using Colors Information, Morphological Characteristic and Neural Network (컬러 정보 및 형태학적 특징과 신경망을 이용한 차량 번호판 인식)

  • In this paper, we propose a new method of recognizing the vehicle license plate using color space, morphological characteristics and ART2 algorithm. Morphological characteristics of old and/or new style vehicle license plate among the candidate regions are applied to remove noise areas using 8-directional contour tracking algorithm, then follow by the extraction of vehicle plate. From the extracted license plate area, plate morphological characteristics of each region are removed. After that, labeling algorithm to extract the individual characters are then combined. The classified individual character and numeric codes are applied to the ART2 algorithm for the learning and recognition. In order to evaluate the performance of our proposed extraction and recognition of vehicle license method, we have run experiments on 100 green plates and white plates. Experimental results shown that the proposed license plate extraction and recognition method was effective.

Video Based Tail-Lights Status Recognition Algorithm (영상기반 차량 후미등 상태 인식 알고리즘)

  • Automatic detection of vehicles in front is an integral component of many advanced driver-assistance system, such as collision mitigation, automatic cruise control, and automatic head-lamp dimming. Regardless day and night, tail-lights play an important role in vehicle detecting and status recognizing of driving in front. However, some drivers do not know the status of the tail-lights of vehicles. Thus, it is required for drivers to inform status of tail-lights automatically. In this paper, a recognition method of status of tail-lights based on video processing and recognition technology is proposed. Background estimation, optical flow and Euclidean distance is used to detect vehicles entering tollgate. Then saliency map is used to detect tail-lights and recognize their status in the Lab color coordinates. As results of experiments of using tollgate videos, it is shown that the proposed method can be used to inform status of tail-lights.

  • It is Face recognition is a very important process in image monitoring and it is a form of biometric technology. The recognition process involves many variables and is highly complex, so the software development has only begun recently with the development of hardware. Face detection technology using the CCTV is a process that precedes face analysis, and it is a technique that detects where the face is in the image. Research in face detection and recognition has been difficult because the human face reacts sensitively to different environmental conditions, such as lighting, color of skin, direction, angle and facial expression. The utility and importance of face recognition technology is coming into the limelight over time, but many aspects are being overlooked in the facial area detection technology that must precede face recognition. The system in this paper can detect tilted faces that cannot be detected by the AdaBoost detector and It could also be used to detect other objects.

A Study on the Characteristics of Hybrid-Plasma Torch for Dyeing Wastewater Treatment (염색폐수 처리를 위한 하이브리드 플라즈마 특성연구)

  • Water treatment study employing plasma is thoroughly examined in the following paper. The research using water plasma torch showed superior results in terms of economical and energy efficiency due to the substantial reduction of electric power. A comparison of streamer and arc discharge phenomena taken place in water was put under close scrutiny. Dyeing wastewater exposed to the plasma treatment was sampled and analyzed for relative dissolved ozone concentration, hydrogen peroxide, as well as the color removal efficiency. It was found that streamer discharges is more effective than arc discharge in growth of $H_2O_2$ and $O_3$ by plasma chemical constituents, though plasma torch had small oxidation reagents selectivity. Thus, streamer discharges, due to the efficient plasma-chemical reactions environment, proved to be more efficient compare to the thermal arc plasma loading.
