A Study on the Color Management using sRGB Standard Color Space (sRGB 표준색공간을 이용한 컬러매니지먼트에 관한 연구)

  • The solution way of color difference in display device is using a device profile recorded with color dimension, color properties of each device and is using sRGB color space. The color matching is better sRGB than RGB color space. The sRGB is independent device color space and based on the monitor characteristice. An accurate characterization of the display device is essential for color matching. The calibration and characterization process in display device is needed to transform the device dependent color to the device independent color. The process of characterization performs a linerizaiton and transforms the linearized values into the CIE XYZ tristimulus values. The purposes of this paper is to estimate color reproduction using device profile and to explain the propriety of transformation method using variable.

Optimized Optical Design of LCD Color-matching BLU Using an RGB Light Source (RGB 광원을 사용한 고효율 LCD Color-matching BLU의 광학적 설계)

  • An LCD backlight unit (BLU) using RGB light sources is designed and simulated, in order to improve its optical energy efficiency. A color-matching BLU is designed with a lenticular lens array (LLA) with elements that image the linear RGB light sources onto the RGB subpixels of the color filter. Type-A and Type-B simulations are performed, according to the location of the light sources. As a result, the luminance increases to 210% in Type-A and 270% in Type-B respectively. The optimum values for the height and the gap of the LLA for maximum efficiency are found to be $25{\mu}m$ and $3{\mu}m$ respectively.

  • This paper presents a vehicle detection method that uses convolution matching method based on a simple color information. An input image is expressed as 8 oriented color expression(Red, Green, Blue, White, Black, Cyan, Yellow, Magenta) considering an orientation of a pixel color vector. It makes the image very reliable and strong against changes of illumination condition or environment. This paper divides the vehicle detection into a hypothesis generation step and a hypothesis verification step. In the hypothesis generation step, the vehicle candidate region is found by vertical edge and shadow. In the hypothesis verification step, the convolution matching and the complexity of image edge are used to detect real vehicles. It is proved that the proposed method has the fast and high detection rate on various experiments where the illumination source and environment are changed.

  • There has been an enormous emergence of imaging systems dedicated to hardcopy and softcopy color-appearance comparisons. Pre-press industry use the CRT as a soft proofing device to preview and aid with color corrections and changes before producing the final printed image. Color DTP system is required an accurate image-matching between CRT-image and printed image. In other to develop the color DTP,CRT calibration and CRT color transform to CIE color system are necessary. In this paper, we described a method CRT color transform to CIELab color system using RGB image raw data. Experimental results show that described method is useful valid of color image matching.

Face Detection Algorithm Using Color Distribution Matching (영상의 색상 분포 정합을 이용한 얼굴 검출 알고리즘)

  • Face detection algorithm of OpenCV recognizes the faces by Haar matching between input image and Haar features which are learned through a set of training images consisting of many front faces. Therefore the face detection method by Haar matching yields a high face detection rate for the front faces but not in the case of the pan and deformed faces. On the assumption that distributional characteristics of color histogram is similar even if deformed or side faces, a face detection method using the histogram pattern matching is proposed in this paper. In the case of the missed detection and false detection caused by Haar matching, the proposed face detection algorithm applies the histogram pattern matching with the correct detected face area of the previous frame so that the face region with the most similar histogram distribution is determined. The experiment for evaluating the face detection performance reveals that the face detection rate was enhanced about 8% than the conventional method.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the color matching program with the excellent camouflage capacity in the near infrared range($\~$1100nm) including the visible light range for cotton fabrics. It was measured IR spectral reflectance in the range of $380\~1,100nm$ after dyed with vat dyes, and we made database for reflectance with various concentration on vat dyes which have a low reflectance value in the infrared range. The color matching algorithm that could be simulated in both the human visible light and the near infrared range was constructed by numerical analysis method using the database. In this study we also developed the dyeing conditions and dyeing process through the continuous-dyeing experiment with the vat dyes for cotton fabrics.

  • In this paper, we propose face feature extraction algorithm through stereo image's matching value. The proposed algorithm detected face region by change the RGB color space of skin color information to the YCbCr color space. Applying eye-template from extracted face region geometrical feature vector of feature about distance and lean, nose and mouth between eye extracted. And, Proposed method could do feature of eyes, nose and mouth through stereo image's matching as well as 2D feature information extract. In the experiment, the proposed algorithm shows the consistency rate of 73% in distance within about 1m and the consistency rate of 52%in distance since about 1m.

  • In this paper, a novel approach that makes use of both shape and color information to retrieve character images in terms of similarity distance from a large-capacity image database or from a streaming image database, in particular, character image logo or trademark. In order to combine both features of completely different characteristics bipartite matching has been employed in computing similarity distance, The proposed method turned out to bealso very effective in matching natural object or human-drawn images whose shape varies substantially.

Precise Stereo Matching Technique Based on White Auxiliary Stripe (백색 보조 띠 기반의 정밀 스테레오 정합 기법)

  • This paper proposes a novel active stereo matching technique using white auxiliary stripe pattern. The conventional active stereo matching techniques that uses two cameras and an active source such as projector can accurately estimate disparity information even in the areas with low texture compared to the passive ones. However, it is difficult that the conventional active stereo matching techniques using color code patterns acquire these patterns robustly if the object is composed of various colors or is exposed to complex lighting condition. To overcome this problem, the proposed method uses an additional white auxiliary stripe pattern to get and localize the color code patterns robustly. This paper proposes a process based on adaptive thresholding and thinning to obtain the auxiliary pattern accurately. Experimental results show that the proposed method more precisely measures the stepped sample whose depth is known in advance than the conventional method.

  • In this paper, the problem concerning the color accuracy of imaging systems using color filters is examined. It is shown that the only solution to the problem is to build systems with the spectral response matching the CIE curves as closely as possible. If the spectral response does not closely match the CIE curves, it was demonstrated that calibration cannot solve the problem and will result in very unstable colorimeters. A practical solution that uses telecentric lenses on the sensor side in addition to dedicated color filters for each CCD detector is presented. For systems that closely match the CIE curves, an innovative method of improving the color accuracy based on the precise measurement of the spectral response is presented. The small discrepancies in the spectral response with regard to the CIE curves are corrected in different ways during the measurements. Finally, it is shown that the tristimulus calibration that is used for display measurement is very unstable for systems without CIE matching and is much more stable with systems that closely match the CIE curves.
