  • Color conversion layer refers to a layer that converts the blue light emitted from the backlight into the red and green light. Heavy metal-free quantum dots and perovskite nanocrystals have attracted great attention as base materials for color conversion layers due to their outstanding optical characteristics. Here, we review recent advances in the development of color conversion layers based on quantum dots. First, we overview the representative optical characteristics of quantum dots and perovskite nanocrystals, and then introduce printing techniques for color converting layers including photolithography, inkjet printing, and nanoimprinting. Finally, we conclude this review with a brief perspective.

  • In this study, we fabricated high quality color conversion component with green/red phosphor and low melting glass frit. The color conversion component was prepared by placing the green and red phosphor layer on slide glass via screen printing process. The properties of color conversion component could be controlled by changing coating sequence, layer thickness and heat treatment temperature. We discovered that optical properties of color conversion component were generally determined by the lowest layer. On the other hand, the heat treatment temperature also affected to correlated color temperature (CCT) and color rending index (CRI). The color conversion component with a green (lower) - red (upper) layer which was sintered at $550^{\circ}C$ showed the best optical properties: CCT, CRI and luminance efficacy were 3340 K, 78, and 56.5 lm/w, respectively.

  • Optical properties of white organic light-emitting devices (WOLEDs) fabricated utilizing a phosphor layer acting as a color conversion layer were investigated. The WOLEDs were achieved due to the enhancement in the color conversion efficiency of the phosphor layer, and the chromaticity coordinates of WOLEDs were (0.29, 0.33).

  • Recently, the color separation issue of wide-spreading white LEDs has attracted attention due to their wide applicability as light sources in direct-lit LCD backlights. These wide-spreading LED packages usually consist of LED chips, a color-conversion phosphor layer, and a light-shaping lens. The technical aspect of this color issue was related to a method for balancing the yellow spectral component emitting from phosphors with respect to the blue one from the LED chip as a function of viewing angle. In this study, we suggested an approach for carrying out quantitative analysis for the color separation problem occurring in wide-spreading LED packages by optical simulation. In addition, the effect of an internal scattering layer on the color uniformity was investigated, which may be considered as a potential solution for this problem.

  • A highly efficient white phosphorescent OLED with a "tetra-chromatic" emission was fabricated by using an external color tuning layer (ECTL) which is composed of a layer of greenish yellow organic dye dispersed in PMMA on the outside of the glass. The ECTL combining with a lower red dopant concentration in the device has been found to improve the efficiency of a conventional WOLED by more than 27%.

  • Power conversion efficiency of the red and green phosphors was measured and analyzed. Two different samples of phosphors of thickness 50 ${\mu}m$ were prepared: one was the phosphor layer coated on the transparent substrate and the other was prepared on the reflective substrate. The 445 nm blue laser diode beam was used as the exciting beam. The conversion efficiencies of the red and green phosphor layers were 41.4% and 46%, respectively. The quantum efficiencies of the red and green phosphors were 60.4% and 53.5%, respectively.

  • We propose a dual Fabry-Perot interferometer (DFPI) structure that combines two Fabry-Perot interferometers. The structure is designed to have spectral peaks in the red, green, and blue regions simultaneously, to be applicable to R, G, and B subpixels without any patterning process. The optimized structure has been fabricated on a glass substrate using a thermal evaporation technique. When the DFPI structure was attached to the quantum-dot color-conversion layer, the full width at half maximum values of the green and red spectra decreased by 47.29% and 51.07% respectively. According to CIE 1931 color space, the DFPI showed a 37.66% wider color gamut than the standard RGB color coordinate. Thus it was experimentally proven that the proposed DFPI structure improved color purity. This DFPI structure will be useful in realizing a display with high color purity.

  • The conversion of printed maps into computerized databases is an enormous task. Thus the automation of the conversion process is essential. Efficient computer representation of printed maps and line drawings depends on codes assigned to characters, symbols, and vector representation of the graphics. In many cases, maps are constructed in a number of layers, where each layer is printed in a distinct color, and it represents a subset of the map information. In order to properly represent the character layer from color map images, an interactive clustering and character extraction technique is proposed. Character is usually separated from graphics by extracting and classifying connected components in the image. But this procedure fails, when characters touch or overlap lines-something that occurs often in land register maps. By vectorizing line segments, the touched characters and numbers are extracted. The algorithm proposed in this paper is intended to contribute towards the solution of the color image clustering and touched character problem.

  • In this work, buffer layers with various conditions are inserted at an n/i interface in hydrogenated amorphous silicon semitransparent solar cells. It is observed that the performance of a solar cell strongly depends on the arrangement and thickness of the buffer layer. When arranging buffer layers with various bandgaps in ascending order from the intrinsic layer to the n layer, a relatively high open circuit voltage and short circuit current are observed. In addition, the fill factors are improved, owing to an enhanced shunt resistance under every instance of the introduced n/i buffer layers. Among the various conditions during the arrangement of the buffer layers, a reverse V shape of the energy bandgap is found to be the most effective for high efficiency, which also exhibits intermediate transmittance among all samples. This is an inspiring result, enabling an independent control of the conversion efficiency and transmittance.

  • To evaluate the nutritional values of Spirulina platensis as the protein supplement for laying heo diet, two experimental diets (Control, Spirulina platensis 2%) were prepared. Total 120, 40-wk old ISA Brown layer hens were randomly employed with 15 hens per replicate and 4 replicates per treatment. Hen-day egg production, egg weight, feed intake, intake /egg weight, egg shell thickness, yolk color score and yolk cholesterol content were examined during 6 weeks of experimental period. Hen-day egg production and feed conversion ratio (intake /egg weight) were significantly (P<0.01) improved by the 2% Spirulina plalensis supplementation. However, there were no differences in egg weight and feed intake between hens fed two experimental diets. Egg from hens fed Spirulina platensis 2% diet have more yellowish yolk color than the control egg although there was no difference in egg shell thickness. Yolk cholesterol content was significantly (P
