An RGB to RGBY Color Conversion Algorithm for Liquid Crystal Display Using RGW Pixel with Two-Field Sequential Driving Method

  • This paper proposes an RGB to RGBY color conversion algorithm for liquid crystal display (LCD) using RGW pixel structure with two-field (yellow and blue) sequential driving method. The proposed algorithm preserves the hue and saturation of the original color by maintaining the RGB ratio, and it increases the luminance. The performance of the proposed RGBY conversion algorithm is verified using the MATLAB simulation with 24 images of Kodak lossless true color image suite. The simulation results of average color difference CIEDE2000 (${\delta}E^*_{00}$) and scaling factor are 0.99 and 1.89, respectively. These results indicate that the average brightness is increased 1.89 times compared to LCD using conventional RGB pixel structure, without increasing the power consumption and degrading the image quality.

  • This paper proposes a color image coding algorithm based on shape-adaptive all phase biorthogonal transform (SA-APBT). This algorithm is implemented through four procedures: color space conversion, image segmentation, shape coding, and texture coding. Region-of-interest (ROI) and background area are obtained by image segmentation. Shape coding uses chain code. The texture coding of the ROI is prior to the background area. SA-APBT and uniform quantization are adopted in texture coding. Compared with the color image coding algorithm based on shape-adaptive discrete cosine transform (SA-DCT) at the same bit rates, experimental results on test color images reveal that the objective quality and subjective effects of the reconstructed images using the proposed algorithm are better, especially at low bit rates. Moreover, the complexity of the proposed algorithm is reduced because of uniform quantization.

포먼트 이동과 스펙트럼 기울기의 변환을 이용한 음색 변환 (Voice Color Conversion Based on the Formants and Spectrum Tilt Modification)

  • The purpose of voice color conversion is to change the speaker identity perceived from the speech signal. In this paper, we propose a new voice color conversion algorithm through the formant shifting and the spectrum-tilt modification in the frequency domain. The basic idea of this technique is to convert the positions of source formants into those of target speaker's formants through interpolation and decimation and to modify the spectrum-tilt by utilizing the information of both speakers' spectrum envelops. The LPC spectrum is adopted to evaluate the position of formant and the information of spectrum-tilt. Our algorithm enables us to convert the speaker identity rather successfully while maintaining good speech quality, since it modifies speech waveforms directly in the frequency domain.

  • In this paper, we propose a new saturation enhancement algorithm which is processed on the new color space, called Normalized YCbCr(NYCbCr). The algorithm consists of two processing unit. One is color space conversion from YCbCr to NYCbCr, and the other is using adaptive saturation mapping function(ASMF). NYCbCr color space is designed to prevent shortcomings such as luminance and hue shift of YCbCr color space and by saturation enhancement. ASMF is effective to enhance saturation properly for each image and to protect low saturation regions of color images from over-saturation. we verified our method using several color images. Experimental results show that the proposed method enhance the saturation with minimizing Luminance and Hue shift.

  • This paper presents a mobile color-compensating application using a RGB color compensation algorithm. The proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to differentiate images which cannot be distinguished by them. The suggested mobile application has two functions: converting images taken by camera and converting contents in the device screen. The proposed application is computationally inexpensive, since it does not require color space transformation. Simulation results show that the proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to receive information expressed by colors such as subway line maps.

  • To enable AI(artificial intelligence) to realize visual emotions, it attempts to create music centered on color, an element that causes emotions in paintings. Traditional image-based music production studies have a limitation in playing notes that are unrelated to the picture because of the absence of musical elements. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to set the group of music through the average color of the picture, and to produce music after adding diatonic code progression and deleting sound using median value. And the results obtained through the proposed algorithm were analyzed.

객체 기반 3D 업체 영상 변환 기법 (Object-based Conversion of 2D Image to 3D)

  • 본 논문에서는 움직임 추정 (motion estimation, ME), 컬러 라벨링(labeling) 그리고 Non-local mean 필터를 이용하여 2D 영상을 3D 업체 영상으로 변환하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법에서는 먼저 프레임 간의 움직임을 추정하여 객체의 움직임 벡터를 추출하고 주어진 영상에 대해 컬러 라벨링 작업을 수행하여 영상을 분리한다. 움직임 추정 결과와 컬러 라벨링 결과를 비교 분석하여 영상내의 객체를 추출하고 추출된 객체를 이동하여 우 영상을 생성하게 되는데 이때 우 영상을 생성하는 과정에서 채워지지 않은 가려짐 영역이 발생하며 전체 화소간의 상관도를 고려하는 Non-local mean 필터를 사용하여 보상한다. 이후 원본 영상인 좌 영상과 생성된 우 영상으로 비윌 주사하여 최종 3D 업체 영상을 재현한다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안된 기법으로 생성된 3D 업체 영상에서 객체위주의 안정된 업체 변환이 수행되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

TV컬러 배경영상에서 얼굴영역 검출 알고리즘 (Algorithm of Face Region Detection in the TV Color Background Image)

  • 본 논문에서는 텔레비전 칼라영상에서 사람의 피부색을 기반으로 얼굴영역을 검출하는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 피부색을 샘플링하여 기준영상으로 놓고, 텔레비전 영상의 화소와 기준영상의 화소 사이의 유클리디안(Euclidean) 거리를 이용하여 얼굴후보 영역결정을 하였다. 얼굴 후보영역에서 눈 검출은 RGB 칼라를 CMY칼라 모델로 변환 하여 Y와 C 사이의 색차성분에 대한 평균값과 표준 편차를 이용하여 검출 하였다. 입술 영역은 RGB 칼라모델에서 YIQ 칼라 공간으로 변환 하여 Q 요소로 입술 영상을 검출 하였다. 얼굴영역 검출은 눈 영상과 입술 영상을 논리연산 하여 지식 기반으로 결정 하였다. 제안된 방법의 타당성을 입증하기 위하여 텔레비전 칼라영상에서 입력받은 정면 칼라 영상으로 실험한 결과, 얼굴영역 검출이 얼굴의 위치와 크기에 관계없이 검출됨을 보였다.

한국 오프셋 인쇄산업에 적합한 CMS 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Color Proofing CMS Development for the KOREA Offset Printing Industry)

  • The CMS(color management system) software was to enable consistent color reproduction from original to reproduction. The CMS was to create RGB monitor and printer characterization profiles and then use the profiles for device independent color transformation. The implemented CMM(color management module) used the CIELAB color space for the profile connection. Various monitor characterization model was evaluated for proper color transformation. To construct output device profile, SLI(sequential linear interpolation) method was used for the color conversion from CMYK device color to device independent CIELAB color space and tetrahedral interpolation method was used for backward transformation. UCR(under color removal) based black generation algorithm was used to construct CIELAB to CMYK LUT(lookup table). When transforming the CIE Lab colour space to CMYK, it was possible to involve the gray revision method regularized in the brightness into colour transformation process and optimize the colour transformation by black generation method based on UCR technique. For soft copy colour proofing, evaluating several monitor specialism methods showed that LUT algorithm was useful. And it was possible to simplify colour gamut mapping by constructing both the look-up table and the colour gamut mapping algorithm to a reference table.

  • TV technology started from black and white TV. Color TV invented and users request more realistic TV technology. The next technology is 3DTV. For 3DTV, 3D display technology, 3D coding technology, digital mux/demux technology in broadcast and 3D video acquisition are needed. Moreover, Almost every contents now exist are 2D contents. It causes necessity to convert from 2D to 3D. This article describes 2D/3D conversion algorithm and H/W platform on FPGA board. Time difference makes 3D effect and convolution filter increased the effect. Distorted image and original image give 3D effect. The algorithm is shown on 3D display. The display device shows 3D effect by parallax barrier method and has FPGA board.
