In this paper, we have studied the color compensation method for 3D that enables 3D color presentation similar to 2D. The color compensation method uses the difference of color presentation in 2D and 3D mode. First, the RGB I/O relationship curve was derived in 2D and 3D mode based on the input RGB color bar images. The relationship was modeled in modified power-law forms. Based on the modeling information, we generated color mapping tables, which can be used for compensating the difference of colors. The proposed color mapping block can be added at the output block of a 3DTV system, where the 2D content can be bypassed but the 3D content RGB data can be processed using the color mapping table. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves color presentation of a 3DTV system using a proper color compensation based on 2D presentation.

An efficient color compensation method is proposed to reduce the color difference between the camera based inspection system and the colorimeter based inspection system in a plasma display panel production line. The color compensation matrix can be constructed by using the relationship between RGB to XYZ conversion matrices, which are obtained by the RGB primaries and reference white chromaticity coordinates. Experimental results show that the non-contact color inspection system using the proposed color compensation method satisfactorily compensates the chromaticity coordinates acquired by the area color CCD camera to be matched to those measured by the colorimeter for various test color.
It is often desirable that manufacturers and users can convert the reference white of display into the preferred color temperature by controlling the color temperature that is one of representative color characteristics of a light source. Accordingly, this paper proposes an efficient method of color compensation for displaying the uncalibrated video signal in PDP-TV and is also shown to be successfully coupled with flexible color temperature conversion based on the signal processing technique.

Many well-known pixel compensation circuits have been applied to control TFT $V_{th}$ variations on small size AMOLED panels. For large (>30-inch) AMOLEDs, luminance and color uniformity are affected by TFT variations, but also by ELVDD IR drop and cavity non-uniformity which are not easily compensated by in-pixel circuits. AMOLED panels may also suffer from manufacturing-induced mura. An external compensation method based on optical measurements is proposed and applied to large AMOLED panels. It improves luminance uniformity by up to 95% at 200nits and color uniformity by up to 99% (${\Delta}$u'v' <0.004) on large AMOLED panels, and provides-increased margin against processinduced mura.
The quality of projector output image is influenced by the surrounding conditions such as the shape and color of screen, and environmental light. Therefore, techniques that ensure desirable image quality, regardless of such surrounding conditions, have been in demand and are being steadily developed. Among the techniques, radiometric compensation is a representative one. In general, radiometric compensation is achieved by measuring the color of the screen and environmental light based on an analysis of camera image of projector output image and then adjusting the color of projector input image in a pixel-wise manner. This process is not time-consuming for small sizes of images but the speed of the process drops linearly with respect to image size. In large sizes of images, therefore, reducing the time required for performing the process becomes a critical problem. Therefore, this paper proposes a fast radiometric compensation method. The method uses color filters for eliminating the color mixing between projector and camera because the speed of radiometric compensation depends mainly on measuring color mixing between projector and camera. By using color filters, there is no need to measure the color mixing. Through experiments, the proposed method improved the compensation speed by 44 percent while maintaining the projector output image quality. This method is expected to be a key technique for widespread use of projectors for large-scale and high-quality display.
In this paper, we describe the color reproduction system for color images captured by digital camera. The system uses a color compensation chart to estimate the transformation between the colors in the image and the reference colors in the chart. The color reproduction process consists of two steps, i.e., the profile creation process and the profile application process. During the pro-file creation process, the relationships between the captured colors and the ref-erence colors are estimated. And the system creates a color profile and embeds the estimation result in the profile. During the profile application process, the colors in the images which are captured under the same condition as that of the chart image are reproduced using the created color profile. To evaluate the per-formance of the system, we perform experiments under various conditions. And we compare the results with those of widely used commercial applications.

In a drop-on-demand thermal ink-jet printer, the dot size of an ink droplet expelled from a printer depends on the absorption of the paper. This causes severe differences between output images on the different paper materials. In this paper, the color matching algorithm for different papers is proposed. To achieve corresponding color reproduction, dot gain compensatio nbased on saturation was applied to predict color reproduction on a printer. If the dot gain of pigment increases, the white portion of paper decreases while the saturation value increases monotonically. As the results of dot gain compensation, intensity change may appear. Therefore, an intensity compensation without any hue variation is followed to match the colors of different subtrates.

This paper presents a mobile color-compensating application using a RGB color compensation algorithm. The proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to differentiate images which cannot be distinguished by them. The suggested mobile application has two functions: converting images taken by camera and converting contents in the device screen. The proposed application is computationally inexpensive, since it does not require color space transformation. Simulation results show that the proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to receive information expressed by colors such as subway line maps.

In this paper, we propose a method for the pattern inspection of LCD module using the color compensation and pattern matching. The pattern matching is generally used for the inspection method of LCD module at the industry. LCD module has many defections such as the brightness difference of the back light, the optic feature of liquid crystal, the difference of the light penetrated by driving LCD and the color difference by the lighting. The conventional method without the color compensation can not solve these defections and decreases the efficiency of inspecting LCD module. The method proposed to inspect defective badness through the pattern matching after it compensated color difference of the LCD occurred by the various causes. At first, it revises with setting by standard tone of color with the LCD pattern of the reference image. And It perform the preprocessing and pattern matching algorithm on the compensated image. In experiment, we confirmed that this algorithm is useful to detect some defections of LCD module. The proposed methods was easy to detect the faulty product.
Underwater photographing and image recording are essential for pre-excavation survey and during excavation in underwater archaeology. Unlike photographing on land, all underwater images suffer various quality degradations such as shape distortions, color shift, blur, low contrast, high noise levels and so on. Outcome is very often heavily photographing equipment and photographer dependent. Excavation schedule, weather conditions, and water conditions can put burdens on divers. Usable images are very limited compared to the efforts. In underwater archaeological study in very turbid water such as in the Yellow Sea (between mainland China and the Korean peninsula), underwater photographing is very challenging. In this study, off-site image distortion and color compensation techniques using an image processing/analysis software is investigated as an alternative image quality enhancement method. As sample images, photographs taken during the excavation of 800-year-old Taean Mado Shipwrecks in the Yellow Sea in 2008-2010 were mainly used. Significant enhancement in distortion and color compensation of archived images were obtained by simple post image processing using image processing/analysis software (PicMan) customized for given view ports, lenses and cameras with and without optical axis offsets. Post image processing is found to be very effective in distortion and color compensation of both recent and archived images from various photographing equipment models and configurations. Merits and demerit of in-situ, distortion and color compensated photographing with sophisticated equipment and conventional photographing equipment, which requires post image processing, are compared.
