광공진 현상을 이용한 입체 영상센서 및 신호처리 기법 (Optical Resonance-based Three Dimensional Sensing Device and its Signal Processing)

  • A three-dimensional image capturing device and its signal processing algorithm and apparatus are presented. Three dimensional information is one of emerging differentiators that provides consumers with more realistic and immersive experiences in user interface, game, 3D-virtual reality, and 3D display. It has the depth information of a scene together with conventional color image so that full-information of real life that human eyes experience can be captured, recorded and reproduced. 20 Mega-Hertz-switching high speed image shutter device for 3D image capturing and its application to system prototype are presented[1,2]. For 3D image capturing, the system utilizes Time-of-Flight (TOF) principle by means of 20MHz high-speed micro-optical image modulator, so called 'optical resonator'. The high speed image modulation is obtained using the electro-optic operation of the multi-layer stacked structure having diffractive mirrors and optical resonance cavity which maximizes the magnitude of optical modulation[3,4]. The optical resonator is specially designed and fabricated realizing low resistance-capacitance cell structures having small RC-time constant. The optical shutter is positioned in front of a standard high resolution CMOS image sensor and modulates the IR image reflected from the object to capture a depth image (Figure 1). Suggested novel optical resonator enables capturing of a full HD depth image with depth accuracy of mm-scale, which is the largest depth image resolution among the-state-of-the-arts, which have been limited up to VGA. The 3D camera prototype realizes color/depth concurrent sensing optical architecture to capture 14Mp color and full HD depth images, simultaneously (Figure 2,3). The resulting high definition color/depth image and its capturing device have crucial impact on 3D business eco-system in IT industry especially as 3D image sensing means in the fields of 3D camera, gesture recognition, user interface, and 3D display. This paper presents MEMS-based optical resonator design, fabrication, 3D camera system prototype and signal processing algorithms.

저속 카메라 통신용 자동 디스플레이 검출을 위한 Lambertian 색상 분할 및 Canny Edge Detection 알고리즘 연구 (A Study on Lambertian Color Segmentation and Canny Edge Detection Algorithms for Automatic Display Detection in CamCom)

  • 최근 가시광원을 사용하는 카메라 통신 기술의 발전과 더불어 디스플레이를 통해 가시광 데이터를 표출하고 이를 인식하는 기술에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있다. 기존의 디스플레이 기반 CamCom 기법은 사용자가 설정한 RoI 영역 기반의 2차원 컬러코드를 인식하는 방식을 사용하였으나, 이는 보행 상황 등 수신위치가 변동되는 상황에 적합하지 않은 단점이 존재한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 카메라 통신에서 자동 RoI 설정을 위해 적용될 수 있는 Lambertian 색상 분할과 Canny 엣지 검출이 결합된 알고리즘 기반의 자동 디스플레이 검출 기법에 대하여 제안하였다. 기존 디스플레이 검출 기법은 디스플레이에서 표출되고 있는 콘텐츠의 변화가 발생하면 검출율이 현저히 감소하는 문제점이 존재하며, 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위하여 lambertian 색상 분할 및 canny 엣지 검출을 결합한 알고리즘 적용을 통헤 자동으로 디스플레이를 검출 할 수 있는 기법을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서는 디스플레이 엣지 인식을 위해 사용되는 다양한 알고리즘을 분석하고 변화하는 컬러코드 콘텐츠 인식시 성능을 측정하였으며, 제안한 저속 카메라 통신용 자동 디스플레이 검출을 위한 lambertian 색상 분할 및 Canny Edge Detection 알고리즘을 적용한 실험 결과 약 96%의 검출율을 달성함을 확인하였다.

Optical and Near-IR Photometry of the NGC 4874 Globular Cluster System with the Hubble Space Telescope

  • We present our study of analyzing the photometric properties of the globular cluster (GC) system which resides in the extended halo of the central bright Coma cluster galaxy NGC 4874. The core of the Coma cluster of galaxies (Abell 1656) was observed with both the HST Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) in the F475W (g475) and F814W (I814) and Wide Field Camera 3 IR Channel (WFC3/IR) in the F160W (H160) filters. The data analysis procedure and GC candidate selection criteria are briefly described. We investigate the interesting "tilt" features in color-magnitude diagrams for this GC system and their link to the nonlinear color-metallicity relation for GCs. The NGC 4874's GC system exhibits a bimodal distribution in the optical g475-I814 color and much more than half the GCs fall in the red side at g475-I814 ~ 1.1. This bimodality is weakened in the optical-IR I814-H160 color; the quantitative analysis on the features of both color distributions using the Gaussian Mixture Modeling code proves the bimodalities are different. Both colors, thus, cannot linearly reflect the bimodality of an underlying metallicity, supporting the suggestion that observed bimodalities in extragalactic GC colors are the metallicity-to-color projection effect.

Implementation of an improved real-time object tracking algorithm using brightness feature information and color information of object

  • As technology related to digital imaging equipment is developed and generalized, digital imaging system is used for various purposes in fields of society. The object tracking technology from digital image data in real time is one of the core technologies required in various fields such as security system and robot system. Among the existing object tracking technologies, cam shift technology is a technique of tracking an object using color information of an object. Recently, digital image data using infrared camera functions are widely used due to various demands of digital image equipment. However, the existing cam shift method can not track objects in image data without color information. Our proposed tracking algorithm tracks the object by analyzing the color if valid color information exists in the digital image data, otherwise it generates the lightness feature information and tracks the object through it. The brightness feature information is generated from the ratio information of the width and the height of the area divided by the brightness. Experimental results shows that our tracking algorithm can track objects in real time not only in general image data including color information but also in image data captured by an infrared camera.

  • Two dimensional flame temperature and KL value distribution from the luminous flame containing soot in a DI diesel engine were measured by the tow-color method using tow different wavelengths of the flame image. The combustion chamber of a DI diesel engine was visualized by elongating the piston and cylinder and the flame in the combustion chamber was photographed on a nega-color film using a high speed camera. In this study, color CCD camera was used to digitize the three color density of the film exposed to the flame and standard lamp . The accuracy of the measuring method depends on the calibration line of film made from a high temperature standard tungsten lamp. The formation and oxidization of soot in the diesel engine were studied by observing measured time history of KL factor and flame temperature . Also , effects of various shapes of combustion chamber and fuel injection on flame temperature. Also, effects of various shapes of combustion chamber and fuel injection on flame temperature and KL value distribution were examined.

단일 센서 디지털 카메라를 위한 디모자이킹 기술에서의 보간법 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Interpolation in Demosaicing Techniques for Single Sensor Digital Camera)

  • 본 논문에서는 단일 센서 디지털 카메라를 위한 디모자이킹 기술에서의 보간법 성능을 분석하고자 한다. 디모자이킹 기술에 사용되는 보간법들 중에서 상대적으로 복잡도가 낮고 영상 화질이 우수한 방법들인 BI(bilinear interpolation), ACPI(adaptive color plane interpolation), ECI(effective color interpolation), Ideal ACPI, EECI(Enhanced effective color interpolation)를 선택하여 분석한다. 각 방법들의 알고리즘을 소개하고 각 알고리즘에 대한 실험을 수행한다. 이 실험은 24개의 코닥 이미지를 이용하여 객관적인 영상 화질과 수행속도를 비교 평가한다. 실험 결과로 ECI가 복잡도 대비 영상 화질이 우수하다는 것을 보여준다.

  • 본 논문에서는 multi-camera를 이용한 인터넷 기반의 지능적 감시 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 두 종류의 카메라, static camera와 pan-tilt camera, 를 이용하여 출입구를 감시하고, 비인가자를 추적한다. static camera는 출·입을 검출하고 출입자를 인가자와 비인가자로 분류하는데 이용되고, pan-tilt camera는 비인가자로 분류된 출입자를 추적하는데 이용된다. 제안된 시스템은 세 가지 단계: 출입구 감시, 출입자 검출 및 분류(인가자/비인가자), 비인가자 추적으로 구성된다 출입구 감시는 출입문의 밝기값 변화를 이용한다 출입자 검출 및 분류는 skin color 모델과 얼굴 크기, 위치와 관련된 휴리스틱을 이용하여 얼굴을 검출하고, PCA(Principal Component Analysis)를 이용한 eigenspace상에서의 유클리디언 디스턴스로 템플릿 얼굴과 입력 얼굴의 유사도를 계산하여 인가자인지 비인가자인지 분류한다. 비인가자 추적은 pan-tilt 카메라를 이용하여, static camera에서 분류된, 비인가자의 움직임을 검출하고 카메라를 제어함으로써 추적한다 제안된 시스템은 무인 감시 상황에서 비인가자의 출입시 감시자에게 경고 신호를 제공하고, 감시지역에서 사건 발생시, 사건의 개요를 파악하는 중요한 정보를 빠른 시간에 제공할 수 있다는 장점을 가진다.

RGB-D 센서, AR 마커, 색수정 알고리즘을 활용한 매니퓰레이터 투명화 (Transparent Manipulators Accomplished with RGB-D Sensor, AR Marker, and Color Correction Algorithm)

  • The purpose of our sensor system is to transparentize the large hydraulic manipulators of a six-ton dual arm excavator from the operator camera view. Almost 40% of the camera view is blocked by the manipulators. In other words, the operator loses 40% of visual information which might be useful for many manipulator control scenarios such as clearing debris on a disaster site. The proposed method is based on a 3D reconstruction technology. By overlaying the camera image from front top of the cabin with the point cloud data from RGB-D (red, green, blue and depth) cameras placed at the outer side of each manipulator, the manipulator-free camera image can be obtained. Two additional algorithms are proposed to further enhance the productivity of dual arm excavators. First, a color correction algorithm is proposed to cope with the different color distribution of the RGB and RGB-D sensors used on the system. Also, the edge overlay algorithm is proposed. Although the manipulators often limit the operator's view, the visual feedback of the manipulator's configurations or states may be useful to the operator. Thus, the overlay algorithm is proposed to show the edge of the manipulators on the camera image. The experimental results show that the proposed transparentization algorithm helps the operator get information about the environment and objects around the excavator.

  • A face recognition is currently the field which many research have been processed actively. But many problems must be solved the previous problem. First, We must recognize the face of the object taking a location various lighting change and change of the camera into account. In this paper, we proposed that new method to find feature within fast and correct computation time after scanning PC camera and ID card picture. It converted RGB color space to YUV. A face skin color extracts which equalize a histogram of Y ingredient without the Luminance. After, the method use V' ingredient which transforms V ingredient of YUV and then find the face feature. The result of the experiment shows getting correct input face image from ID Card picture and camera.

  • The studies to estimate the surface spectral reflectance of an object have received widespread attention using the multi-spectral camera system. However, the multi-spectral camera system requires the additional color filter according to increment of the channel and system complexity is increased by multiple capture. Thus, this paper proposes an algorithm to reduce the estimation error of surface spectral reflectance with the conventional 3-band RGB camera. In the proposed method, adaptive principal components for each pixel are calculated by renewing the population of surface reflectances and the adaptive principal components can reduce estimation error of surface spectral reflectance of current pixel. To evacuate performance of the proposed estimation method, 3-band principal component analysis, 5-band wiener estimation method, and the proposed method are compared in the estimation experiment with the Macbeth ColorChecker. As a result, the proposed method showed a lower mean square ems between the estimated and the measured spectra compared to the conventional 3-band principal component analysis method and represented a similar or advanced estimation performance compared to the 5-band wiener method.
