A new method in robot path generation is presented using an analysis of the characteristics of multi-robot collision avoidance. The research is based on the concept of the collision map, where the collision between two robots is presented by a collision region and a crossing curve TLVSTC (traveled length versus servo time curve). Analytic collision avoidance is considered by translating the collision region in the collision map. The 4 different translations of collision regions correspond to the 4 parallel movements of the actual original robot path in the real world. This analysis is applied to path modifications where the analysis of collision characteristics is crucial and the resultant path for collision avoidance is generated. Also, the correlations between the translations of the collision region and robot paths are clarified by analyzing the collision/non-collision areas. The influence of the changes of robot velocity is investigated analytically in view of collision avoidance as an example.

For the use of a mobile robot in dynamic environment, a collision-avoidance algorithm with moving obsta- cle is necessary. In this paper, a collsion-avoidance algorithm of a mobile robot is presented, when a mobile robot detects the collision with moving obstacle on the navigational path. Using reported positions of moving obstacle with sensors, the mobile robot predicts the next position of moving obstacle with possibility of collision. The velocity of moving obstacle is modeled as random walk process with Gaussian distribution. The optimal collision-avoidance path in which turning motion of the mobile robot is considered is generated with relative velocity between the mobile robot and moving obstacle. For the safety of collision-avoidance path, attractive potential with the safety factor is suggested. The simulation results using this algorithm show the mobile robot avoids collision with moving obstacle in many cases.

Collision avoidance is a method to direct a mobile robot without collision when traversing the environment. This kind of navigation is to reach a destination without getting lost. In this paper, we use a genetic algorithm for the path planning and collision avoidance. Genetic algorithm searches for path in the entire, continuous free space and unifies global path planning and local path planning. It is a efficient and effective method when compared with traditional collision avoidance algorithm.

This paper presents the lane change system for collision avoidance. The proposed algorithm for the collision avoidance consists of path generation and path following. Using a calculated TTC (Time to Collision), partial braking is operated and collision avoidance path is generated considering relative distance, velocity and acceleration. Based on the collision avoidance path, desired yaw angle and yaw rate are calculated for the automated path following. The lateral controller is designed by a Lyapunov function approach using 3 D.O.F vehicle model and vehicle parameters. The required steering angle is determined from wheel velocity, longitudinal and lateral velocity in order to follow the desired yaw angle and yaw rate. This system is developed MATLAB/Simulink and its performance is evaluated using the commercial software CarSim.
Various modified algorithms of rapidly-exploring random tree (RRT) have been previously proposed. However, compared to the RRT algorithm for collision avoidance with global and static obstacles, it is not easy to find a collision avoidance and local path re-planning algorithm for dynamic obstacles based on the RRT algorithm. In this study, we propose boundary-RRT*, a novel-algorithm that can be applied to aerial vehicles for collision avoidance and path re-planning in a three-dimensional environment. The algorithm not only bounds the configuration space, but it also includes an implicit bias for the bounded configuration space. Therefore, it can create a path with a natural curvature without defining a bias function. Furthermore, the exploring space is reduced to a half-torus by combining it with simple right-of-way rules. When defining the distance as a cost, the proposed algorithm through numerical analysis shows that the standard deviation (σ) approaches 0 as the number of samples per unit time increases and the length of epsilon ε (maximum length of an edge in the tree) decreases. This means that a stable waypoint list can be generated using the proposed algorithm. Therefore, by increasing real-time performance through simple calculation and the boundary of the configuration space, the algorithm proved to be suitable for collision avoidance of aerial vehicles and replanning of local paths.

In multi-mobile robot environment, path planning and collision avoidance are important issue to perform a given task collaboratively and cooperatively. The proposed approach is based on a potential field method and fuzzy logic system. For a global path planner, potential field method is employed to select proper path of a corresponding robot and fuzzy logic system is utilized to avoid collisions with static or dynamic obstacles around the robot. This process is continued until the corresponding target of each robot is reached. To test this method, several simulation-based experimental results are given. The results show that the path planning and collision avoidance strategies are effective and useful for multi-mobile robot systems.
A new collision avoidance algorithm is presented for two mobile robots in narrow corridor environments. When two robots meet each other in a narrow corridor, one should yield the way to the other robot. To solve the problem arising in this situation, they exchange their path to get information about crossing-points to check avoidance conditions, which are necessary for choosing the robot to yield. The conditions are summarized as follows. 1) If one robot blocks the path to the closest crossing-point in front of the other robot. 2) If the closest crossing-point of each robot is the same point. 3) Which robot is closer to the closest crossing-point. In this paper, we propose a path planning algorithm for the robot which yield the way. Simulation results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed collision avoidance algorithm.

In this paper, a new collision avoidance algorithm based on the dynamic model of a mobile robot is proposed. In order to avoid obstacles on the path of a mobile robot, intelligent force control is used to regulate accurate distance between a robot and an obstacle. Since uncertainties from robot and environment dynamics degrade the performance of a collision avoidance task, neural network is used to compensate for uncertainties so that the collision avoidance can be performed intelligently. Simulation studies are conducted to confirm the proposed collision avoidance tracking control algorithm.
An AGV(Automated Guided Vehicle) where is running on production automated system is related efficiency of production system similarly. On previous study proposed a path collision avoidance algorithms using shortest path of AGV. Running time about loading and unloading with shortest path of AGV is important factor to decide the production system efficiency. In this paper, we propose a method of shortest path and shortest time. Also propose the decision making method of collision avoidance position for setup a shortest runway for next command. To do verify the proposed method consist a simulation for AGV. Finally, we compare and analyse the proposed system between the existing system and show that our system can effectively the performance.
Recently, the use of robots for painting operations has received much attention, as it is a powerful means for automation and quality improvement. Collision-avoidance is a key issue in the path planning for painting operations. In this paper, we develop a computationally efficient algorithm for the generation of collision-free path for two types of motion: a) Gross motion when the robot approaches the painting area, and b) Fine motion while spraying the surface. The former is a typical collision-avoidance problem, but the latter calls for special attention as the painting mechanics has to be incorporated into path planning. The developed algorithm is applied for the internal coating of the car body whose structure is the major source of collision.
