  • This study introduced a lattice Boltzmann computational scheme capable of modeling thermo hydrodynamic flows with simpler equilibrium particle distribution function compared with other models. The equilibrium particle distribution function is the local Maxwelian equilibrium function in this model, with all the constants uniquely determined. The characteristics of the proposed model is verified by calculation of the sound speeds, and the shock tube problem. In the lattice Boltzmann method, a thermal fluid or compressible fluid model simulates the reflection of a weak shock wave colliding with a sharp wedge having various angles $\theta$$\sub$w/. Theoretical results using LBM are satisfactory compared with the experimental result or the TVD.

  • The present paper focuses on size optimization of double layer barrel vaults considering nonlinear behavior. In order to tackle the optimization problem an improved colliding bodies optimization (ICBO) algorithm is proposed. The important task that should be achieved before optimization of structural systems is to determine the best form having the least cost. In this study, an attempt is done to find the best form then it is optimized considering linear and non-linear behaviors. In the optimization process based on nonlinear behavior, the geometrical and material nonlinearity effects are included. A large-scale double layer barrel vault is presented as the numerical example of this study and the obtained results indicate that the proposed ICBO has better computational performance compared with other algorithms.

  • We perform hydrodynamical simulations of a late-type galaxy experiencing frequent high-speed encounters with intruding galaxies, called "galaxy harassment". Specifically, we simulate a Milky Way-like galaxy colliding consecutively with six twice-massive early-type galaxies containing hot diffuse gas on their halos, with various impact parameters ranging from 65 kpc/h to 15 kpc/h at the relative speed of about 1500 km/s. We show that galaxy-galaxy encounters play a significant role in a cluster environment in gas stripping and star formation quenching through hydrodynamic interactions of late-type galaxies with cluster early-type galaxies.

  • Asteroids represent a significant resource for space exploration and scientific research. Various scientific missions have already performed and planned to investigate and understand the characteristics of asteroids. This talk introduces many space missions to asteroids. Representing missions to asteroids are the NASA's NEAR, Deep Space-1, Dawn, OSIRIS-Rex, SCOUT, DART, and ESA's Rosetta, and JAXA's Hayabusa 1 and 2, and DESTINY+ missions, and others. Although it is a very rare event, the possibility of Earth-crossing asteroids (ECAs) colliding with the Earth can never also be ignored. Numerous mitigation concepts also have been proposed to deflect ECAs in preparing for the disasters which might occur in future days. In the early studies for mitigation schemes, most of analyses were centered on to deflect ECAs with impacting the energy to the object to change its orbit. This talk also introduces many methods to deflect the orbit of ECAs, and shows spacecraft trajectories to asteroids.

  • Okakura Kakuz$\bar{o}$ (1863-1913), the founder of the Japan Art Institute, is best known for his proclamation, "Asia is One." This phrase in his book, The Ideals of the East, and his connections to Bengali revolutionaries resulted in Okakura being remembered as one of Japan's foremost Pan-Asianists. He did not, however, write The Ideals of the East as political propaganda to justify Japanese aggression; he wrote it for Westerners as an exposition of Japan's aesthetic heritage. In fact, he devoted much of his life to the preservation and promotion of Japan's artistic heritage, giving lectures to both Japanese and Western audiences. This did not necessarily mean that he rejected Western philosophy and theories. A close examination of his views of both Eastern and Western art and history reveals that he was greatly influenced by Hegel's notion of dialectics and the evolutionary theories proposed by Darwin and Spencer. Okakura viewed cross-cultural encounters to be a catalyst for change and saw his own time as a critical point where Eastern and Western history was colliding, causing the evolution of both artistic cultures.

  • In Underwater Flight Vehicle depth control system, the followings must be required. First, it needs robust performance which can get over modeling error, parameter variation and disturbance. Second, it needs accurate performance which have small overshoot phenomenon and steady state error to avoid colliding with ground surface or obstacles. Third, it needs continuous control input to reduce the acoustic noise and propulsion energy consumption. Finally, it needs interpolation method which can sole the speed dependency problem of controller parameters. To solve these problems, we propose a depth control method using Fuzzy Sliding Mode Controller with feedforward control-plane bias term and Neural Network Interpolator. Simulation results show the proposed method has robust and accurate control performance by the continuous control input and has no speed dependency problem.

Secondly, It need no oveshoot phenomenon to avoid colliding with ground surface and obstables. Thirdly, It need continuous control input to reduce the acoustic noise and propulsion energy consumption. Finally, It need effective interpolation method which can reduce the dependency of control parameters on speed. To solve these problems, we propose the Fuzzy-PID depth controller with the control parameter interpolators. Simulation results show the proposed control scheme has robust and accurate performance with continuous control input.

  • The present article proposes a new droplet collision model including the stretching separation regime and the formation of satellite droplets. The new model consists of a several equations to calculate the post-collision characteristics of colliding droplets and satellite droplets. These equations are derived from the energy balance of droplets between before and after collision. For binary collision of water droplets, the new model shows good agreement with experimental data for the number of satellite droplets. Nevertheless, it is thought that, in order to guarantee the generality of the new model, the improvements should be performed to consider the effects of the bouncing and the reflexive separation, which is essential process in the collision of hydrocarbon droplets.

  • This paper presents a method for solving the path planning problem for robot manipulators. The technique allows manipulators to move from a specified starting point to a goal without colliding with objects in two dimensional environment. Approximate cell decomposition with a greedy depth-first search algorithm is used to guide the end effector though Cartesian space and genetic algorithms are used to solve the joint variable for the robot manipulators.

  • In this paper, an analytical method is proposed to find the dimensions of impact stresses with using the dimensions of impact loading parameter regardless of mass of impactor, velocity of impactor, and plate thickness. In analytical method of Impulsive stresses, the three-dimensional dynamic theory of elasticity using rectangular coordinates and the potential theory of displacement are utilized, and when the measurement of Impact loading is difficult especially for a steel ball colliding on an infinite plate, the impact loading can be obtained by using the classical plate theory and Hertz’s contact theory. And in the numerical analysis, the fast Fourier transform (F. F. T.) algorithm and the numerical inverse Laplace transformation are used because the analysis of impact loading Is difficult to obtain solutions by using the thress-dimensional dynamic theory of elasticity.
