Analysis of liberal arts education based on NCS and K-CESA in dental hygiene

  • Objectives: This literature review seeks to identify the current status of the liberal arts education of dental hygiene majors offered by universities in Korea and the U.S. and provide a comparative analysis of the data on liberal arts education in both countries. Methods: From April 3, 2017 to May 1, 2017, research data on curriculum topics were collected from 60 selected universities. The data were collected from university websites, which also provided the universities' emails and dental hygiene major descriptions. We calculated the descriptive statistics of the variables and performed independent t-tests on the data. Results: In all the domains of the NCS and K-CESA, the dental hygiene major currently offers courses on language and communication and general education, focusing on self-management and development. Few universities offer subjects from other disciplines. Conclusions: Pro-actively exploring strategies is a prerequisite to the systematic operation of standardized dental hygiene education. It is imperative to conduct research consistently on relevant topics, such as teaching methods, general education standards, and connectivity between major subjects and the goals and effects of exposure to a general education.

  • 본 논문에서는 2006학년도부터 2013학년도 입학생을 중심으로 입학전형별 학업성취도의 차이를 분석하였다. 학업 부진학생이 증가하는 문제를 분석하기 위하여 대학생 핵심역량진단검사와 3년간의 개설과목의 학점 분포를 분석하였다. 분석결과 교양강화를 위한 학점 수 증가와 신입생들의 외국어 강좌의 부적응이 주된 원인이었다.

성별과 보행 속도에 따른 하지 관절의 기여도 분석 (An Analysis on the Contribution of Lower Limb Joint According to the Gender and Gait Velocity)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the gender differences on gait pattern and the kinetics on lower extremities according to the different gait speed. Ten collegiate male students (age : $23.80{\pm}2.94$ yrs, height : $179.40{\pm}5.04$ cm, weight : $66.57{\pm}5.64$ kg) and ten female students (age : $23.40{\pm}2.91$ yrs, height : $166.06{\pm}5.61$ cm, weight : $53.76{\pm}2.75$ kg) participated in this study. To investigate the role, the ratio of the use, and the effectiveness of each joint during gait, we examined the joint work and the contribution to total work. The results of this study were as follows: First, gait pattern was not differ between male and female, hip joint ROM increased with the increase of gait speed both male and female. Second, the eccentric work of the ankle joint decreased with the increase of the gait speed both male and female, on the other hand increased on the knee joint. Third, in the result of the contribution to total eccentric work, male in both the two gait speed was the biggest on the hips joint. However, female in normal gait speed was the greatest on the ankle joint, was the most on the knee joint in the fast gait speed. Forth, the concentric work on the ankle and hip joint increased with the increase of gait speed both male and female. Fifth, in the result of the contribution to total concentric work, there is no difference in the male both the two gait speed, however decreased in the female on the knee joint with the increase of the gait speed, on the other hand increased on the ankle joint.

대학생들의 교양체육 수업만족도가 운동지속의사에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Satisfaction with Physical Education, General Education Courses on Exercise Adherence in University Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대학생들의 교양체육 수업만족도가 운동지속의사에 미치는 영향을 규명하여 대학교 교양체육 수업을 더욱 활성화시키고 확대할 수 있는 방안을 모색하여 학생들이 지속적으로 체육활동에 참여할 수 있는 기초 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 2009년 현재 대전시 및 충남에 소재한 4년제 대학에 재학 중인 남 여를 대상으로 486명을 표집하여 설문지를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는SPSS 14.0을 사용하여 빈도분석, 신뢰도 분석, 기술통계분석, t-test와 일원변량분석(one-way ANOVA) 및 상관분석을 실시하였고, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 수업만족의 하위요인 및 운동지속의사 차이에서 성별, 전공별, 학년에서 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 상관관계에서 수업만족도의 하위요인과 운동지속의사 간의 모두 정적(+) 상관을 나타내었다. 또한 교양체육의 수업만족도는 운동지속의사에 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 수업만족도가 높을수록 운동지속의사가 높음을 의미하며, 차후 평생체육에 참여를 유도하기 위해 대학 교양체육의 역할을 제시하고 있다.
